Alan, I would recommend the InCase line of products. I bought a black leather Incase wallet (with latch) for my iPod nano, and it protects all aspects of the iPod, has clear plastic/rubber over the screen, and allows access to the important jacks. I LOVE mine!

I don't know if they have that specific kind of case for the iPod Video, but here is a link to Best Buy's offerings:

I have an iSkin for my iPod. It protects the whole iPod, and you can take the iSkin off to wash it (if you need to).

Thanks

I've been searching throough a lot of stores such as target, circuit city, fye, and none of them have the cases for the fifth generation ipod (aka ipod video). They only have it for like Ipod foto and fourth generation. I think that best buy will not have the covers for the ipod video. Anyone knows any stores that do?

Banana Republic has some awesome cover right now, and for like under $15. There on sale too.

I bought this really intense cover for crash protection; I bought it via the online Apple store where you can browse many covers. It's called the Agent 18 "Mini Shock" - it has rubber inside and many klutz's at the Apple website where you can post comments on the product attest to its ability to protect the Ipod when you drop it. Mine is for the Mini but I would think they have it for the regular sized Ipod. Agent 18 is the company that makes it but I ordered it through Apple. It was like $25 and it has plastic screen protector. I use it with the clip and then I have my Disney (Jiminy Cricket) lanyard attached to it so there is like no way I am going to drop it. :) I used to have the skin but it has no protection for the screen which can scratch easily. I notice many people at the gym do not care and don't put their Ipods in any type of case!

Your iskin didn't come with a screen protector? My iSkin came with one.

I got the 60GB video for Christmas as well (as some of you probably saw, I had my 60GB photo purchased in september up in the trade forum before listing it on eBay [which turned out fairly well, actually, as it went for $375 USD; nearly what I paid for it]).

In any case, my preference as far as iPod cases go are the hard plastic shells. That said, I like both the Agent18 VideoShield and the XtremeMac Microshield.

My recommendation between those two would probably be the XtremeMac case, as it comes with the option of a belt clip.

There are also the leather cases from Vaja, of course, which are incredible; but extremely pricey:

you sold your ipod photo for $375? Wow, me friend bought an iPod photo (60 gigabytes) for only $150 on eBay...

For my iPod video, I bought the iskin case online... It costed 34.99 bought was like 42.49 with shipping! Hopefully the investment will be worth it, considering its protecting a $400 machine...

Yeah, I wasn't hoping for anywhere near what it ended up going for. I set the starting bid at $225 USD. It was mint, though, except for the lack of shrinkwrap on the box; even the protective stickers they come in were still on it. So I guess I got lucky the auction went so well.

There are advantages the photo has over the video I guess, though. Alot of older Macs don't have USB2, so there's no way the many people who own them can use the iPod video, and that top remote port was really useful. The docking port just isn't a convenient place to attach accessories; and I'm really surprised Apple didn't realize that prior to the video's release. I understand they wanted to slim the new models down, but at this point even the new 60GB is thinner than the old 20GB photo. I think they could've afforded to make them a tad thicker in order to maintain the remote port at least; and perhaps the firewire controller.

Doesn't the Agent18 work with the clip? I just looked in my Agent 18 box and there is one but I used the clip that came with the Ipod. The whole Ipod is almost completely shielded from possible scratches. I am super careful with it, but I do get a little bored of the white plastic case.... I had the skin on it at first but there was no protection for the screen. The skin is also a hassle to get on and off.

What clip do you mean? What I meant in that post, was that the XtremeMac Microshield comes with two back covers; one plain and one with a belt clip. The Agent18 VideoShield snaps together in the same way, but doesn't come with a second back piece.

Polar blast- but, of course, I'm a little biased. I love the color scheme of white and blue, and it looks awesome in that picture.

I, myself got an "Arctic frost" colored Evo3 case from my iPod video (from iskin), which is the same company that manufatures those cases. I love the beauty of a white ipod, so thats what I would choose

Sonic Boom's my favorite one, and the one I have for my own iPod (funnily enough, I got it as a Christmas present with my iPod which shows how much my family knows my taste).

That actually looks rather Wonderland-ish for some reason. I love the new avatar, btw. I've seen iPoppins before, but never iHatter.
