No problem with being obsessed with something. Just keep it to one thread, kid.

Apparently it's on track for a 2010 release.

I have the old version, but I'll get this for sure. I hope it has updated bonus features. My main question is..... what will they add to the restoration of the film?

I have the old version, but only got it because well, what is a Disney DVD collection without Snow White? But I don't like it much at all and its not worth the double dip for me.

wow just wow!!! :o
i cant wait to see a more beautiful cover, i have the 2001 release and the cover is the beautifullest of all so i just cant wait to see what disney will come up with these are some of my ideas for the new cover art:
-the PLATINUM EDITION banner should be in red
-There should be a new logo with the same letters like SB
-behing the logo should be snow white biting the apple and the queen at her side
-under the logo the 7 dwarfs should be standing in a line with animals looking up at the witch and the prince on his horse
that would make it perfect
SUGGESTIONS...

Hmm,the background should be red (Red really fits Snow White),Snow White will be on/near a new logo, the Dwarfs, the Prince and the Evil Queen below and the Evil Queen hold an apple, the animale will be there too espcially the blue bird.
What the logo can be shaped like? (Like The Little Mermaid's shaped like a clam and Sleeping Beauty's shaped like a shield).
And they"ll come up with new outfits for the Princesses for the it like the Jeweled Princesses for Sleeping Beauty PE.

You arnt the only one not to own it Ariel's Prince! I was too young at the tme to really appreciate what the Platinums were when the firs few came out. I already had it on video, I didnt need it again. Really wished I had got it now ! Ah well, at least this is my chance ...

I am wondering what they will do about bonus features when the Platinum's repeat themselves. But, having said that, Sleeping Beauty has had a DVD release that was worthy of the 'Platinum' title (collectors edition), and yet they have found more bonus features to include on the new DVD.

UNLESS Disney knew they were going to repeat themselves on the Platinums, and deliberatly held back on the bonus features ....

One of the many things that I love about my Snow White dvd is how the Magic Mirror talks to you on the main menu of each dvd. I am curious if they will do something like this for the new dvd. Also for the Blu-ray if you connect to to the internet, maybe you can ask the Magic Mirror questions and maybe put your photo inside the Magic Mirror. Any thoughts and ideas on this :)

I have to agree here. There's not really anything more they can do to the film. The 2001 restoration was perfect (as was the rest of the DVD), and I'm also not sure what more they can add to the bonus features. They already put a game (which actually was somewhat entertaining) and great documentaries on the PE, along with the theatrical trailers. Either way, I'll still buy this release. I'll probably buy it on Blu-Ray, because I'm sure that by the time this comes out I will have a Blu-Ray player.

The thought of just watching it in full HD, is enough to make me look forward to this.

I'm curious as to how they'll handle this new release. I personally enjoy the current restoration, and in terms of bonus features, they covered pretty much everything there has been to cover on the film. Either way, I'll probably buy it since Snow White is my second favorite after Sleeping Beauty.

I loved the interactive element of the Magic Mirror with the first release, but I wonder if they'll continue that or not. Especially since Tony Jay, Disney's go to man for the voice of the Magic Mirror, passed away about two years ago. I would be happy if they do continue the Mirror interactivity, but at the same time, it isn't going to feel the same to me without hearing Tony's voice. :(

I am very excited for this release. The 2001 Snow White Platinum Edition was the first DVD my family ever purchased. I plan on upgrading all my DVD’s to Blu-Ray disc. The HD picture and sound is a major reason to upgrade. When I first heard about Sleeping Beauty I asked my family for a Blu-Ray player. I’m glad we waited though for the new players that were just released.

I am also concerned about the bonus features. Disney really did cover everything there was on Snow White for the 2001 release. I’m sure if they keep digging in their “vaults” they’ll find some new worthwhile content. Like PrincePhillipFan, I also liked the interactivity with the Magic Mirror. He was the perfect host. I’m sure if Disney decided to use the Mirror again they could find a suitable voice to replace Tony Jay.
