eBay item #6318133225

Post by disneyunlimited »

It looks pretty impressive in the photo, although a lot of these Asian pirates do...

You've obviously lost out on eBay protection if you've bought it outside of eBay. Tut tut tut!

Anyway, as he says it can take him two days to ship from receipt of your payment you could always ask him in the meantime to confirm that it is a genuine Disney release and not a counterfeit.

You could always say you've shown the photo to a friend who is a Disney collector and they don't think it's genuine. If he ignores your emails and ships it to you regardless you can file a claim with PayPal if the goods are not the real thing.

Most pirate sellers know they are selling fake imports and would rather refund than end up in court with Disney prosecuting.

How much did you pay for it, if you wanted a legit copy, there are still many online resources you couldve gone through before Ebay.

Also, there is a R3 NTSC formatted Korean version which I believe is identical in every way, though it might not be any significant to you without a multi-region player... if you are capable of other region playback though, you might very well have the same copy we all do anyhow. Again, I believe the only difference was that it was R3 formatted but the discs were still NTSC playback.

and here it is... http://dvdheaven.com/list_detail.php?g_cat02=1&idx=798 - the specs seem identical.

again, it's essentially the same set. you might inquire first.

Even though the description says its an asian collection version, the picture looks to be the regular version. The iitem the sell must match the picture. If the item does not match he must give you a refund. If that doesnt work you and always scare him and tell him you are a lawyer.

That's good he gave you a refund to you.
Happy Birthday panhead4life!!!!
Most E-bayer sellers don't want to give a refund so I guess you were more then lucky.
If they don't want to give your refund you can press charges on him by telling E-bay.

Disney DVDs - buying experiences at eBay

Post by disneytreasurestin »

I believe many of us shopping at eBay for your Disney DVD collection. Is there any tips you could share to help others buying there or the stories about the best deal you've ever got at eBay?

i think there already is a post about this, but it may be to old so i will reply.

what i recommend is buy USED DVDs because they go for alot cheaper and you have alittle more of assurance of it being a real copy and not a fake bacsuse someone who sells Fakes, is in it for the Money and USED DVDs don't sell for that much. Thats just me, others may not agree but thats what I do and have had no problems so far.

It helps to check other auctions for a person selling a DVD, particularly a Limited Issue one. If you see they've got dozens of 101 Dalmatians, Lady and the Tramp, Little Mermaid, and Jungle Book DVDs, you can suspect they're bootlegs. Feedback isn't as useful, since people are likely to not notice an illicit DVD and not want to get negative feedback themselves by posting such information. Most of the Limited Issues on eBay anymore are illegal bootlegs.

when im on ebay i search the item, and then search it again except before i click 'Search' for a second time, click on 'Advanced Search' and select 'items located in United States' which will take out all of the bootlegs for me, and because the DVDs i search in the United States are usually not bootlegs.

Here are the steps (i know how i described them above sounds confusing):
1. Search the Item
2. Search it again
3. Click on Advanced Search (u need to search the item twice because the second time will make the advanced search option open)
4. Choose "items located in [country name]"

Can't go on that assumption, I had a person listed as a US seller, sent from Malaysia..

Need to go on pictures, feedback, and what other things seller is selling.

I agree.

I didn't know the Limited Issues were usually the bootlegs! I just won (well, a few weeks ago I think) a LI Peter Pan. The guy selling it didn't have great feedback but I looked at the items he was selling and they were all Air Jordan sneakers. A few people posted that they didn't think they were genuine, but no one complained of not getting their item or refunds when they were requested.

He was selling only a few new and sealed DVDs and showed the DVD sticker seal at the top of it. When I got it in the mail it even had the small Buena Vista stamp on the back of the shrinkwrap and a sticker on the front about some offer through Disney from 1999. Plays wonderfully and is definitely legit. :)

I'm sure it will be re-released at some point as a PE or something since it was only issued as an LI a while back, but I LOVE this movie and just couldn't wait!!! :pink:

That's the only Disney DVD I've bought on ebay though. I'm hesitant to buy a used one just because I'm so afraid of getting it and it skipping!!

don't buy from STDVDS. :x
that's a tip. ;)

 The BEST deal I got from EBAY that I remember was getting a real ULTIMATE TOY BOX for $51.80 total. :D

The seller only emailed me a picture of the whole box + discs and inserts(but didn't post it on the auction), stated that only the slipcover was ruined (thank goodness for the Disney Customer Service!), and had 100% feedback for both buying and selling with no neutrals.

So I sniped it and won it. WHEEEE! :float:
But that was back in September 2004; I don't know if anyone will have that kind of luck... :)

 So another tip is: it usually helps when you email the seller. That way you know he/she will always respond to you throughout the transaction!

Is there any reason you went for that instead of the superior but also discontinued Special Edition?

I just picked it up myself for roughly 55 bucks.. Typos are a wonderful thing. It didn't come up when you typed Disney DVD , but showed when you typed Toy Story..

Now I'll sell my toystory on ebay to recover a portion of that to lower the cost even more :-)

that's a smart idea, buy when people dont like want to buy a ripped cover or something, then maybe ill get lucky getting a new slipcover...and save myself some bucks.

im a little uneasy though, wat if they announce a new toy story set coming out and then i had already bid on the old set on the internet. that would suck, so im scared to buy it.

bbbbbuuuuuuttttt...
the Ultimate Toy Box is awesome! It's pretty too! :p It's a silver box and a clear slipcover! AND I actually watched the 3rd disc! :o
TS1 brought back memories, and after watching TS2 again...I loved it! I remember only watching it once when I was younger..

I think if you get the chance to get it at a cheap price, you should buy it.
Plus, I had the same attitude as you, "What if they annoucne a new TOY STORY set?" and I thought my Ultimate Toy Box will be useless and no one will want it!

BUT, 2099net assured me that UTB will be soo valuable! ;) It's made by Pixar! 8)
Would you want the set with Pixar TS1, Pixar TS2, Disney TS3?

magicalwands, I'll warn you now but you can double check:
Disney Customer Service does not have the boxes to hold the DVDs. (this goes for boxes that held the Aladdin Gift Set, LK Gift Set, Fantasia Anthology...)

thanks for the tip ! i double checked and they didn't have anymore.

maybe i'll get lucky and find it at one of those DVD non-retailer shops. there's one back at my aunt's house, maybe my mom will drive me ! :]

then if i have to rent it, ill rent it and say i lost it. it would suck to hear their price though lol
