It hasn't been officially confirmed but according to this, it's going to be CG. Granted, it's not much but if you take into account the recent reports about the lack of hand-drawn projects at the studio, it adds up.
Super Aurora wrote:Considering this is Marvel movie, they usually do their animation productions in hand drawn style. I don't think they have ever done one in CGI.
The upcoming Iron Man & Hulk: Heroes United is going to be in CG. Also, we're not sure how much involvement (if any) Marvel will actually have with Big Hero 6.

That's what made me unsure what this medium was going to be. the lack of mention of any news concerning Hand drawn made me wonder this might be CGI, yet on the other hand the examples I said earlier was another reason why I thought that of possibility it could be hand drawn. Either way doesn't matter to me. But I do personally think hand drawn works much better in superhero movies/shows than CGi.

But that's mere speculation. They don't have any inside information about the project.
True, but I don't think it takes a genius to figure out that does it not make sense to have movie that is based on a Marvel property be supervise by ............ a Marvel company.........who knows the Marvel stories and properties better than anyone else in the company?

I'm not saying that Marvel is not going to be involved; I'm just saying that we don't know for sure at this moment.
Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if Marvel turned out not be involved that much with the project. I don't think Lasseter would be willing to share creative control over a WDAS film.
Q: There’s been talk of a Big Hero 6 movie. Any updates you can offer on that project?
Harrison Wilcox: Mr. Joe Quesada would be the best person to ask about stuff like this.
Q: Is there anything at all you can reveal about some of Marvel’s upcoming animated plans?
Harrison Wilcox: Not if I want to keep my job. But there is some stuff that, as a fan, I'm very excited about in the coming year. Announcements coming soon -- my guess would be mid July for some reason...

"We've ramped up to doing one film a year, and the movies are overlapping now. Big Hero Six is taking a story pause, but it'll probably be in production by August or September. Artists are pitching their ideas to to John [Lasseter], and people who are starting to develop something now will have to get at the back of a long line, because there's lots of pictures in development. John likes to have environments and worlds and character ideas pitched to him, not honed down plots".
It's a good thing that there's so many different projects happening. Not too many years ago there was a lot less movies in work. Another employee told me that Big Hero Six has a couple of Marvel reps who sit in some of the story meetings and kick in suggestions (although Disney artists are doing the boarding and scripting.) [...]
Disney says that "Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada has been participating in brainstorming sessions about the project." (Which is what one of the artists on the third floor of the hat building told me yesterday.)
Steve Hulett wrote:There are several [projects] lined up on the tarmac. Big Hero Six is still deep in story. Mr. Lasseter will be down shortly to flog development along, also hold meetings large and small.
Honor Hunter wrote:The film has gone through a couple screenings and Lasseter is very happy with the direction of the film, although several Bothans I talked to weren't as warm to the story. But, animated films change monthly, as Lasseter's notes and the Story Trust work to refine the elements of the picture.
"We're doing more pictures now, more stuff is in development. Big Hero 6 is going to overlap with Frozen. Management wants to do one picture a year now. They're not going to be laying a lot of people off, because they're going to need them."
I'm not excited for this movie at all tbh. I think Disney should have made this film traditional animation because that's how all marvel comics are and traditional animation just seems to fit super heroes better overall. I wish they would have came up with a new set of superheroes if they were going to make a movie instead of digging up some old Marvel characters. I honestly was hoping Disney wouldn't have made a super hero movie in the first place, there is a lot of CGI super hero films, and I can't help but think of the Incredibles when I think of this film. I'll try to keep an open mind, but I'm not thinking the outlook is that great.
I have no idea what to expect of this so I don't really have an opinion either way. I'm just happy there seems to be a steady production flow at Disney now. It looks like they're showing some confidence in WDAS for once.
The clip just showcases a setting with no clearly visible characters, but it does look visually strong.

From a Japanese guy's pov, im glad that it's not set in Tokyo or an actual real city, because it doesn't exactly look like a Japanese city. Still I think they did it better than cars 2, from at least what i see in the video clip.
btw, did anyone see the wreck-it ralph clip showing as ads? LOL
PatrickvD wrote:Oh and let the outcry over the fact that Disney released footage of BH6 before Frozen BEGIN! (don't disappoint me, I want angry stuff!! )
Yeah, it is very frustrating. Frozen comes out in a few months while we have a whole year for BH 6. Again, it doesn't say a lot and sometimes, video footages come out before a year. But, the footage is pretty.

Other than San Francisco, I think the feel of the city is based on Blade Runner which is why I'm so fucking excited and happy for this movie. It look awesome!
Fun fact Blade Runner is actually very popular in Japan.I mean in the 90's I believe some anime were based on the movie. One anime that comes to mind is Bubblegum Crisis.

I'm well aware of that considering half of the influences in Blade Runner comes from the neon lights and busy city entertainment in places like Shinjuku and Shibuya, Tokyo.
Many Anime are based on Blade Runner and the cyberpunk movement. AKIRA is big example.
From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes “Big Hero 6,” an action comedy adventure about brilliant robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada, who finds himself in the grips of a criminal plot that threatens to destroy the fast-paced, high-tech city of San Fransokyo. With the help of his closest companion—a robot named Baymax—Hiro joins forces with a reluctant team of first-time crime fighters on a mission to save their city.
In the comics Hiro's last name is Takachiho. I wonder why Disney changed his last name to Hamada?
