I'm positive those are from Through the Keyhole. The color scheme of the film clips are WAY bolder than the ME/UAE transfer. I don't know if they're necessarily more accurate, but I'll say that I prefer these new ones. Wonderland's color palette should be bold and saturated. While we can't judge anything till the disc is popped in, I'm liking what I'm seeing.
And I'm also sure that this presentation will run throughout the duration of the film. The BBFC classification is more or less the running time of the film itself. If this were just a branching feature, we'd get separate listings for all the clips, and they'd add up to a lot less. That means this is an entirely separate video encoding on the disc, which is fine since Alice is so short.
That means this is basically a 70+ minute documentary. That to me is freaking awesome. I was worried by the press release's description that this would just be about the books, but it seems as though this will focus on both the books and the film.
I recognize Brian Sibley's voice in the clip discussing Alice being the potential first feature (which is a scenario I've often wondered about). That makes me happy since he's one of my favorite Disney historians, and he's easily one of the biggest Alice fans out there.
Oh, and the pencil test is sweet, too, even though I was expecting unique animation and not a rough pencil version of something in the final film.
Anyway, my excitement for this release has peaked to the point where I've been blowing off money on eBay buying random Alice crap I've been eying for years. I really do think that (audio and still features aside) this will be the definitive Alice release on home video. Once I get a hold of those missing laserdisc features, then I can make that claim more confidently. Either way, Kelvin is pleased.
