Wait...? Okay, so I think I just figured this out- all these little limited releases are testing grounds to decide whether or not Disney wants to reissue BATB nation-wide in 3-D, and if they do poorly, then it won't get a nation-wide release.blackcauldron85 wrote:Beauty and the Beast Fathom Event September 29 and October 2

Or has this already been figured out? Because I'm a little behind on the Disney news right now...
It's playing about half an hour away from me on those dates. Since the main reason I wanted to attend the 3-D version was so I can experience the film itself in theaters (3-D or not), I'll be attending this one. I hope Disney does more Fathom Events for their films. I want to be able to see as many animated classics in theaters as I can, especially Walt-era ones if they're willing to do it.

I'll be attending this. Hoping more limited theatrical releases happen.

The special 3D edition of Beauty and the Beast
1. they kept in the stutter. you wanna wanna stay in the tower?!
2. no human again sequence. all backgrounds are kept as original.
3. original colors. not as bright as the trailer due to the glass tints. looks absolutely stunning. no orange tint. belle has brown hair. beast actually walks into the light.
4. original clogsworth animwtion. no reanimation.
5. 3D animation looks amazing. surprisinly organic. looks ironically much closer to the original theatrical release than the PE release.

Just saw it tonight and it is amazing. Like seriously.. It's much much better than what I thought it would be.
The 3D doesn't hurt the eyes at all, everything seems so much more organic and there isn't that red hue that was on the Platinum edition.
Seriously worth the hour and a half drive to get there

Here's the theatrical poster:

And here is the Spanish TV ad:
<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/dEm1x0RVg5s?fs ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/dEm1x0RVg5s?fs=1&hl=es_ES" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
This weekend I'm going to see it again! I can't wait!!!

So, I guess we're not getting a theatrical release here in the US? Seems its just going to be straight to 3D bluray. Really disappointing if that's he case.
Especially since its already been released elsewhere. I won't have a 3D tv for quite some time.
Same goes for the Lion King in 3D. I was looking forward to that one even more than beauty, since the lion king was the first movie I remember seeing in theaters.

Forgive me for not being able to pick up where I last left off in this thread. Ok, does anyone have any definitive idea of what is going on with the US release at this point? Clearly Valentine's 2011 is out of the question now. So axe that rumor. Next year? perhaps? or is it like the above posters have mentioned Disney may not release this at ALL in the US if it doesn't do well in other countries? I'm sorry that is just a very, very odd strategy for the company.

It has not been released in Norway either. (We have had a 3D release of The Nightmare Before Christmas a few years back, but no Beauty and the Beast 3D in the cinemas yet...)
