Why include a third disc containing the standard version of the movie with the Blu-ray version? As soon as a buyer drops the bucks for the Blu-ray version, the buyer has boarded the Blu-Ray ship so no more encouragement is needed with the inclusion of a standard version bonus disc. It seems to me a Blu-ray version bonus disc should be included with the DVDs to encourage people to buy Blu-ray.dvdjunkie wrote:Also the Blu-ray version has the two-disc collector's edition along with a third-disc which is the standard version of the movie. I think they want people to get a start on collecting blu-ray disc by doing this.

Yes, but then you couldn't use the Blu-ray. The way I see it is, if you buy the Blu-ray, you can use the bonus DVD in case you want to travel and watch it, or go over to someone elses house who doesn't have it/Blu-ray and you can watch it there. It actually makes a lot of sense.Sky Syndrome wrote:Why include a third disc containing the standard version of the movie with the Blu-ray version? Those things didn't acquire to me so no wonder I didn't see the sense in the inclusion of the standard version with the Blu-ray disc set. Now I see it's actually a pretty good idea.TheSequelOfDisney wrote:Yes, but then you couldn't use the Blu-ray. Sorry to quote myself, but does anybody know?DisneyFreak5282 wrote: I know Best Buy is offering a deal where if you buy SB on Blu-Ray you can send in any used Disney DVD and get a $10 Best Buy gift card. When they say "Disney DVD", do they strictly mean like DISNEY Disney or can it be a Buena Vista DVD? I've been trying to get rid of Season 3 of The Golden Girls and I've tried trading it in but apparently it's "too scratched", which it's not, it plays fine. Would they accept it or does it have to be strictly Disney? Because technically Buena Vista DOES distribute Disney DVDs.

That's actually what got me to order the Blu Ray disc even though I don't have a Blu Ray player yet. So I guess their marketing scheme worked!dvdjunkie wrote: Also the Blu-ray version has the two-disc collector's edition along with a third-disc which is the standard version of the movie. Count me in on being a sucker as well, i have the SE from a few years ago, and as this is my favorite Disney animated classic I knew that even though I don't have a blu-ray player yet, I wanted this dvd. The fact that for buying the blu-ray I also get the regular dvd version was just icing on the cake. Marketing plan accomplished in my book.
If Disney was really daring/smart, they would have just made it available in blu-ray only since it does come w/the regular dvd disc.

I find you pompous, judgemental, and completely self-absorbed.........would you be my friend?

When you buy the Blue Ray Disc for SB, it comes with this extra disc. Is that everywhere or just at Best Buy? Because I really want to get the Blue Ray Disc even through I do not have a player yet but I did not know if I could just go to Walmart to get this deal. Or if it is only Best Buy, do I have to buy it off online or if I got to the store could I also get the deal? Thank you for answering my questions. I'm new to all this blue ray stuff.

Well if you flip through this topic you'll find pics of the blu-ray version and re-remastered DVD. I would try to find some side by side comparison picks of the 03 DVD and the new release. The soundtrack should be better on this release as well. Overall, if you want it for the story and the story only then there is no point to upgrade because the story is probably one of the only things that will never change no matter when you get this.lapniappe wrote:HI- this is just a question.
I've got SB on Special Edition (spent a LOT on it too).
do I need SB on Platinum as well? I honestly never catch the technological upgrades (and don't have that technolgy anyway). I just love the story.
thanks.

Well it took a lot of effort, but I finally own the Blu-ray edition of the Sleeping Beauty PE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was such a mess, I went to a wal-mart that is about 5 mins away from my house to get it at midnight (which is my routine) but they wouldn't give it to me. They told me that a special crew coming in at 7am was in charge of stocking the new DVD's and Blu-ray's. Really, I know it was just sitting in a box on the other side of the door going into storage. I know that because I saw all the other DVD boxes for the new releases, so it really wouldn't have been that hard to fork it over. Instead i got mad and left. Then on the way home i realized that there was another wal-mart about 15 mins away that was open 24 hrs, so i called over there and they told me they'd get it out for me. I was so very happy! Now however i need to get some sleep because it's 2:30 now. (if the 1st wal-mart would've given me the move i probably would've finished watching it by now, what jerks)
