Blu-ray.com:

"Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has revealed that they will bring 'Pinocchio: 70th Anniversary Platinum Edition' to Blu-ray on March 10th, day-and-date with the DVD release. This second Platinum Edition Blu-ray from Disney will feature two recently discovered scenes and an alternate ending."

Well, this is good news. Two deleted scenes and an alternate ending. I really can't wait for this release.

When this Platinum edition of Pincchio comes out, I am curious if this edition will go over something that I have never heard anyone talk about before. When the movie starts it shows a book called "Alice in Wonderland" and another book called "Peter Pan" > You can see these 2 books right after the opening credits and right before the Pincchio book opens. Pincchio came out before both Alice and Wonderland and Peter Pan. I am curious if anyone will talk about this on the new Platinum edition.

I know I heard somewhere (maybe here, maybe on a DVD, maybe online) that both "Alice in Wonderland" and "Peter Pan" were already in the beginning process of being made in to movies. They couldn't have possibly been far along, but they were both being thought about as possible movies to be made.

Doesn't surprise me. Both Peter and Alice were contenders for the 1st animated film Walt would make. He really wanted to do Peter Pan first but couldn't get the movie rights to it for quite some time after Snow White was released.

So does this mean that the DVD won't have these 2 scenes & the alternate ending? :(

It's from Blu-Ray.com, so it probably only noted that the Blu-Ray has it, though I'm sure Disney will include it on the DVD.

I'm wondering if they'll include the deleted songs as well (such as "As I Was Saying to the Duchess" or "Three Cheers for Anything").

No.

From the original <a href="http://www.videobusiness.com/index.asp? ... eobusiness article</a>:
Pinocchio: 70th Anniversary Platinum Edition, streeting on March 10 (prebook Jan. 29) for $29.99 on DVD and $35.99 on Blu-ray, will feature two recently discovered scenes and an alternate ending.
So the material is standard for the PE on either format.

Edit: article also mentions a Feb date for the 20th Anniversary release of Oliver & Co.

Who's willing to bet it's the Special Edition DVD, except with a flashy new slipcover/cover art/disc art, DMR points, and a new "Fun with Languages" game?

What's a Fun With Languange game? (I don't have the Sleeping Beauty PE yet).
And Amy-I"m pretty sure that the DVD will also have deleted scenes and AE.

I am, though I hope they clean up the transfer a little bit. O&C is one of my favourite Disney movies, but I refuse to watch the DVD often because of it's horrible transfer.

O I know that both Alice and Wonderland and Peter Pan were stories that Disney had plans to make into movies when Pincchio came out. I still think it's neat that they put those books in the Pincchio movie long before the Disney movie versions of both Alice and Wonderland and Peter Pan come out.

The online version of <a href="http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/questex ... /#/6">Home Media Magazine</a> reports the BD will---like Sleeping Beauty---include a standard DVD of the feature. Nice.
