What I was saying was that it didn't make sense to me for a store to put a dvd that was going into the vault on sale for such a low price as $8.99. I would think they would want to make as much money as possible on the dvds before they were all gone.
My bad. I misunderstood what you were saying. It would make more since for Disney to raise the price rather than lower it. That is wierd.
I used to think the same thing, but I don't think the "vault" dvds will sell if they raise the price once Disney said it was going into the vault. That's just bad economics. I think raising the price would only work for customers who absolutely must have the dvd before DIsney puts it away forever. Chances are, those types of customers already bought the dvd when it was first released. By saying it is going in the vault, Disney is:
1) Officially announcing they will no longer manufacture such and such DVD
2) Attracting customers who don't have it yet and may not have wanted it before but now will since it won't be available in the near future
3) Attracting average customers who don't go to this site and think the DVD will be gone forever.
4) Putting these DVDs on sale just gets them quicker off the shelves. It probably ends up raising more moeny by having a lot of ppl buy it all at once at a lower price rather than a little bit of ppl at paying a higher price. Classic supply and demand. The higher the price, the less product demanded. The lower the price, the more product demanded.
