I beg your pardon?! You mean to say that drivel has made more money than any Disney animated film (adjusted for inflation)? :o

Oops, my mistake. I just looked it up and Ice Age 3 is actually the second-highest grossing animated film worldwide (not adjusted for inflation). #1 is Shrek 2.

Adjusted for inflation, the ten highest grossing animated films of all-time are:

1. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
2. 101 Dalmatians
3. Fantasia
4. The Lion King
5. The Jungle Book
6. Sleeping Beauty
7. Shrek 2
8. Pinocchio
9. Bambi
10. Finding Nemo

Are you kidding?!? I can't imagine a movie theater not wanting to reap as much money out of HP as possible! HP will do a crapload better than Megamind will!

I'll say, especially when, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," is Harry's last adventure, divided into two parts for the movie, against his enemy, Lord Voldemort. Not only it would be better than, "Megamind," but also, "Rapunzel (Tangled)."

Let us not forget the toy companies and fast food restaurants and Hallmark Keepsake Ornament Catalogs that have already swung their Chinese factories into production to insure that stores have plenty of Rapunzel/Tangled/Whatever merchandise ready for the Christmas season. Tangled being delayed to 2011 would be a calamity for them and for the Disney licensing department, especially after they've already been sucker-punched with serial title changes and an apparent tilt away from the Princess-doll-buying portion of the market.

The movie would have to be a real mess for them to delay it significantly at this point. And unless they're having problems rendering the hair, the movie is NOT a real mess. It's actually pretty wonderful. I will be most irked if they "retool" it into a lesser movie than what they showed at the test screening.

As of June 24, The Animation Guild blog was talking about all the overtime work they were putting in on Tangled, but was not talking about a release date delay. And neither, apparently, is anyone else except that blog in Mexico, if my Googling skills are still what they used to be back in the 70s.

While I don't think taking on Harry Potter is good release date strategy, I also don't put much stock in this rumor until confirmed by a more reliable source or two.

They had better not push this back any farther. Look, I don't think it needs much retooling, from what mawnck has said about it. It sounds almost perfect. I am just so excited to see it, that I will be extremely upset if they delay it for a whole year!

I know! This is what makes me question the intelligence of this generation! Lion King- a better example- was one of the highest grossing Disney/animated movies because it was actually an AMAZING movie! Ice Age 3?! That was just mediocre. :x

Pardon me, I actually enjoyed ICE AGE 3 moreso than Bolt, PatF, UP, ratatouille and WALL-E.

It was an entertaining film with a good solid story, heaps of injokes and serious themes of family and the reality of loss. That, and green fart jokes.

Somewhat similar to the Lion King come to think of it. Except cuter.

Besides the rumor about delaying the film, there are other interesting news before that according to the same site that talks about the rumor. Please note: You must have a translator on your Internet in order to read the site.

This is the first time I've heard a rumor about a delay.

Has Disney ever delayed an 'animated classic' this close to release? The trailer is out - could they really pull a switcheroo now?

The last one I heard of was Cars. It was supposed to have a December 2005 release, but Disney thought the movie's theme fit the summer season better so they changed it.

I believe there have been more releases like that, but can't think of any at the moment.

post on animationguildblog on Tangled. The original poster made this comment:

(My caveat: I haven't a clue how the story plays ... or even exactly what the story is.)

To which someone, apparently an insider replied the following:

You can thank marketing for that. There's a new trailer coming soon and it should help in that regard. But I can tell you this, its a classic fairy tale mixed with good humor good romance and some good action. The villain is a passive-aggressive sinister b*tch, which causes some pretty intense stuff that I wont give away.

And for the record, the screening of Toy Story 3 I went to got a great audience reaction for Tangled.

But you're right about the changing of opinions. After screenings people are jazzed and amazed at how good the movie is, but then 3 months later when we're neck deep in the dregs of production, everyone hates everything (and forget how special the movie is), so be careful who you talk to, and when you talk to them...

RIGHT lets get this clear this is a rumor and my guess is that since it is from a spanish site it will already have a later date than the US. Disney has already released trailers and concept art reminding us of the date several times so dw (Y)

In the UK Tangled will not be released until January 2011/ Late December and seen as Spain and Uk are both in Euroupe the film will obviously be later than US

According to the same site that talks about the rumor of Disney's, "Rapunzel (Tangled)," there are some news before the rumor that talks about another trailer coming in August 2010. Which means there could be a chance to release the movie this year on November 24 besides postponing...maybe.

I think a differ release date is in order.....espcially since isn't Harry Potter 7 Part 1 suppose to come out the same weekend that Tangled announced...if so I woud agree with moving it to a differ weekend....becaues pitting it against Harry Potter is just Box Office Suicide

Thanks, that looks more like it! Although I'm still bothered that Shrek did better than Pinocchio and Bambi. :(

I thought the limited release was November 5, and the official release was 24, whereas HP's was Nov. 19? :?

It is but it's gonna fall in the same general area and I said before. Releasing Tangled 5 days after Harry Potter comes out is not likely to help the film (especially with the kind of marketing out now). HP7 will more than likely outdo Tangled during the Thanksgiving weekend and even if Tangled was released weeks before HP7, there's no guarantee that this will prevent another TPatF vs Avatar.
