I remember the opening. The live action Belle was walking around town with her book. I had a VHS or two of it, but I sold them at a yard sale! Stupid, stupid me!

Beauty and Debate
I'm sorry this got so off-topic.
I want to thank CJ for looking out for me. I really needed you. I don't know what all the views and feelings of the moderators are, but I know it must be hard not to chime in about controversial or important subjects. Thank you for acccepting me and letting me be who I am and talk about what I want (under the rules) in this place.
UncleEd, if you weren't attacking, you were still insulting and trying to make me feel bad. Saying something you believe that might happen to make me feel bad is one thing, saying something to be hurtful is another.
It seems that you are simply lucky that you are the "norm". It's easy for you to say anyone different from you is wrong and should change to become right again. Well the norm is just the majority, and in this place some of your opinions and views are not the norm. Maybe this can help you understand. But I certainly hope no child of yours ever turns out to like or be anything different from what you consider the norm, because I worry that you will not accept them and love them as they are, and if you wish to eliminate anything different, you may end up eliminating loved ones.
And as I said, it's not wrong to want to believe in something that reality contradicts, unless it affects others in reality, so don't try to make the real world fit your perfect vision.

No, it's not. The moral of the story is to not judge a book by it's cover. If you can't understand something as simple as that then how can you follow any film's plot?

UncleEd, That right there is a personal attack against Disney Duster's intelligence."
No, it was an attack on public schools.
"I will not tolerate anymore attacks against any of your fellow forum members. I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt about your Archie Bunker comment, but it is clear that you intended that comment as a slur, which is most definitely a personal attack. Consider this your second warning."
I never got a first warning and if you don't like what I have to say then kiss my ass and don't read it. How dare you tell me what I meant in a statement. I know what I meant and if you can't figure it out maybe you went to public screwl too. I bet you even have a bumper sticker that reads 'Celebrate diversity" on your car. That's all fine for you until you disagree with someone like me, who is right. and NEVER wrong. OOOOO, just wait until I report this place to Pat Robertson....

Like it or not the things I say are are the norm and are factual. Many of the things you have said, however, are based on emotion and fall like a house of cards.

Ha! Where did that come from? And you claim I pesonally attack you. If that's not a personal attack I don't know what is.

This whole "There's no such thing is nomal" is just something freaks made up to make themselves feel accepted. It's since been latched onto by pop culture as a way to justify anything goes. There are limits to life, there are rules, there are rights and there are wrongs. People who refuse to admit that are living in a liberal, kook, extreme fantasy world that just doesn't exist and can't exist. Not everyone can be right so why should we accept all things as equal and valid (unless they're traditional)? You're either right or wrong and I'm never wrong so you obviously are.

Just because times have changed doesn't mean the original moral has changed.
Ok imagine this then,
you are a 17 year old girl, who has an arranged marriage to a pig of a man, who just happens to be wealthy. She is unhappy.
She hears this story and it gives her hope, that some day her pig will turn into her ideal man.

"thats the moral of the story.

The moral is don't judge a book by its cover, not stay with an abusive man.

And that so happens these days....emotional arguments ALWAYS requiire what if's that could happen but aren't very likely to happy. The sky can fall and we could all go dancing around in the acid rain naken but that's not enough to prove a point. Besides, ZI thought you were trying to claim it's about saying with an abusive man, now it's an arranged marriage too...
Let's talk about arranged marriage. In places where they still do them they're surprisingly successful. I asked some kids from India about them and found out why. The reason why is they try to make it work. They accept that they're goingto be matched so they make an effort to be happy with each other. And what's wrong with that? In some ways this "I must be happy and satisfied in every aspect of my life" is what has led to so much unhappiness in the world. Just because we can now have anything from any time period from any place in the world at our finger tips doesn't mean we should. There was a day when catching a favorite film on TV wasspecial because you couldn't own them. Now that we can get anything we want whenever we want it's robbed us of our specialness we once gave many things in life.

UncleEd, you are clearly overstepping the line. And your actions have been noted. We're not going to debate about if you did or didn't intend a post to be a personal slur or attack. All we ask is people post on this forum and show respect for others. Your tone and language clearly isn't showing respect to other posters or other moderators. Either dial it down or stop posting.

You've had a chip on your shoulder about me from day one in our Song of the South debate a few years ago. I always give people the respect they deserve and I never use foul language.

Or better yet, if you don't want to read it then don't. Free speech doesn't guarentee a freedon NOT to be offended, even though you're being silly about this...

No, it's not. You said it's a beastly man a girl doesn't want to be with. That is such an extreme it doesn't happen. I was merely stating how this ideal of perfection without any flaws is why the divorce rate is so high. Rather than work through a problem it's easier to bail.

If I have a chip on my shoulder or not is irrelevant, and does not affect any moderating decisions made. Were you suspended then, or had any of your posts edited or removed? Or now being as you have started posting again? I even just a hour or so ago provided an answer to one of your questions on another thread. It seems the only one with the chip is you.UncleEd wrote: You've had a chip on your shoulder about me from day one in our Song of the South debate a few years ago. Being as you're so keen on pointing out that people aren't able to comprehend YOUR posts, I'll point out that you can't comprehend MINE. I did not say you used foul language, but the language you are using is carefully calculated to mock or belittle others, and that needs to change.
In addition you told a moderator to "kiss your ass".
Myself and fellow moderators do not have the option of "not reading it", especially if one of your posts has been reported. We are entrusted with the task of making this forum run as smoothly and trouble free as possible. Either change your posting style or suffer the consequences.

I'm going to move things back on topic by trying to answer Ariels Prince's question.
Honestly I'm not sure since I haven't seen the play myself, but I am assuming that Belle perhaps found the castle much in the same way she did in the original novel. How that is I'm not sure, although with a little google work I might be able to find out
Or someone else here knows and can help out

You know that bit where mrs Potts puts chip in the cupboard with a big load of his "brothers and sisters", I've been wondering if they are just random castle servants mrs Potts has taken under wing, or if they are his actual brothers and sisters, because there are A LOT in that cupboard.
any thoughts?

I thought the exact same thing! I think Mrs. Potts was just caring for them, and Chip was her biological son, because it would be awfully rude of her to pick favorites.Someday... wrote:You know that bit where mrs Potts puts chip in the cupboard with a big load of his "brothers and sisters", I've been wondering if they are just random castle servants mrs Potts has taken under wing, or if they are his actual brothers and sisters, because there are A LOT in that cupboard.

But then that brings the question: Why were there so many kids running around the palace, unless Beast captured them or something.

Well, here's three things to consider on the whole Mrs. Potts, Chip and co.
1. Perhaps Mrs. Potts was running an underground orphanage at the castle behind Adam/Beasts back
2. She got really busy with some random man, or Maurice?
3. Finally, my serious theory. Perhaps all the kids belong to the other inhabitants of the castle, not just Mrs. Potts. I mean, look at the whole dancing scene at the end, there's a lot of people standing there in nice outfits so perhaps the brothers and sisters belong to them, but because they were turned into teacups Mrs. Potts just assumed a mother hen position over them while they were transformed. Of course, she could also be the Castle Nanny on the side of her actual duties.
Or of course there's one thing to consider, perhaps they actually were just teacups in the end. There wasn't a rule saying all the furniture was actually a person, I mean they did need furniture to use before the spell.
One thing I've wondered, how do they know which end of the footstool dog is which? I mean if Belle just randomly picked him up, how would she know if it's his head she's scratching?
Yes I know that sounds a bit wrong and odd but something to consider as well.

I just realized that the voice of the Beast is the same person who plays the voice of Prince Alexander in the 1992 computer game King's Quest 6: Heir Today, Gone Tommorow. It's also interesting that the game has a section involving the story of Beauty and the Beast.

The original plot that was chucked out when Kirk Wise and Gary Trousedale were brought on board told of how the Beast and Belle had dinner every night, after which the Beast would ask Belle to marry him. Belle would say no. This would happen repeatedly over the course of the film. Don Hahn said this was scrapped because the film just played like two people having dinner for the whole movie.
Early visual development also indicates that Belle's sisters (the "Beauty" in the story had two) were also included.
This was covered a little bit on the DVD, and is the extent of my knowledge of the "original idea of the plot" you speak of.

Oh,okay
thanks for telling me
so it's very much like the original story (It will be intersing to see that thought),In the original story she had brothers and sisters thought.
I hope that next Platinum Edition will have more on this (I also wonder what was the original plot idea that Roger Rabbit had).

There's a beautiful French black & white movie called "La Belle et la Bete",
I recomened all B&B fans to watch it.
<a href="http://s231.photobucket.com/albums/ee23 ... =betb3.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee23 ... /betb3.jpg" border="0" alt="la belle et la bete"></a>
I think the Disney version must have been inspired by this movie, or maybe Walt wanted to make a B&B movie after watching the french version.
