Hey guys, I've been gone a while

Anyways, I bought the Pocahontas DVD a while ago and Mum got me Pocahontas 2 for Christmas. When I watched Pocahontas, I really got into it, you know? Then after that I watched Pocahontas 2. Well I was kinda really shocked with what happened (won't say in case people haven't seen it), and now everytime I watch Pocahontas, Pocahontas 2 plays on my mind. It's weird lol, but it affected the movie for me, but maybe this will change soon.
"Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World" is the only sequel so far that has changed the way I look at the original. I like both movies (the original I like more), but it does affect how I see a particular character...and it bugs me, because I usually like that character...)

Quote from Walt Disney about a sequel to Snow White?

Post by littlefuzzy »

I saw reference to this quote over at IMDB, but not the actual quote. Apparently, Walt was asked about a sequel to Snow White at a news conference (or something,) and replied along the lines that sequels were just there to make money, and he wouldn't have any part of it...

If anyone knows of the actual quote, I would love to see it.

Disney and Sequels

Yea, he said that then. But later, he made two sequels to "The Three Little Pigs" that I believe he was quoted on feeling bad about. But he still did it, and I believe he did a lot of things that he previously said he wouldn't do for business and the like.

People today are greedy. They think they can make cheap sequels to kids when they should really be focusing on Bringing back the classics to a new generation.

i know snow white 2's plot:
snow white and the prince have a girl named rose, the queen's sister kidnapt the dawrves but dopey escape, snow white, the prince and rose go to visit them and dopey tell them that the dawrves were kidnapt by the queen's sister, snow white, the prince and rose (with the help of dopey) are going to save the dawrves from the queen's sister.
i think they're trying to make the old princesses to morden:
cinderella in cinderella III,snow white in this film and aurora in disney princess enchanted tales.

I heard at one point this was the plot... It actually sounded like to me a great sequel but I think just the Idea of Sequel to the first Disney Animated classic should sound forbidden... Of Course Cinderella II did prove that certain films should just stay there.... Unless it Cinderella III which is a great sequel... Anyhow here was the plot that I heard..

Snow White and her Prince go to visist the dwarves on their way to their honey moon and something about if I recall correctly something about the Evil Queen/Witch was so Evil that she came back as a ghost and Captured the prince and has hypnotized him or something and so the seven dwarves and I also heard that there was going to be an intro of an 8th dwarf...

At least that is what the guy who was escorting us around the Walt disney studios told my family when I went on My make a wish trip back in 2003..... I even remember saying even though I didnt like the idea just Do not let Dopey talk words in the sequel....

I think Ariel'sprince found that info a the link below... Whether or not is true I have no clue...

http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?t=17471
The evil Queen's sister Noriss learns from her magical crystal ball that the only way to make Snow White and her family leave the castle would be to kidnap her friends the dwarfs. She goes to the mine asking the little men to help her find her way home, then pulls out 7 bags to kidnap each one of them. Only Dopey can escape from her claws by hiding behind rocks. Snow White, the Prince, and their 13-year old daughter Rose come to the rescue of the dwarfs with the help of Dopey...

Disney and Sequels

That's weird, DisneyBoy20022, because that story sounds exactly like the April Fool's Joke Animated News played one time! Did someone who worked at Disney really say they were considering this?!

Oh, don't remind me! That had to be one of their best pranks ever! (Even though, I kinda got upset at it)

Animated News, likes to fool people around the 4th. Last year was a doozy, so I wonder what this year will bring! (hopefully, no more fake DTV's announcements)

Sequels don't have to be approached ONLY as a way to make money. It just depends how seriously the filmmaker's take the idea of making another good story around solid characters they've already created. There's no reason great characters would or should only have one good story in their lives worth telling. Walt made some good sequels to his live action stuff. Why should the animation be any different? I always found Rescuers Down Under to be superior to the original. As I understand it, Walt didn't want to do sequels to animation because of the time and money it took him to make one animated feature, and because of the difficulty in having to always top the previous film. It's too bad if he didn't like his Pig sequels, but I loved all of those shorts. Walt is probably my greatest hero outside of religious figures, ha, but I don't agree with him on EVERYTHING. After all, didn't he hate Alice in Wonderland?

There will be a squeal. It's called Snow White and The Seven Samurais. Joint collaboration with Walt(he's not really dead) and Akira Kurosawa.

It will be epic.

April Fool's: Snow White and the Eighth Dwarf
Oops.... My bad... perhaps I was confused about that.... Perhaps that is where I heard that.... Although I do remember telling the guy at the Disney Studios that if they did a Snow White Sequel I told him not to make Dopey Talk..... Although.....I could of sworn somthing there was true about and 8th dwarf because this April, Fool's joke was in 2005.... So I went on my make a wish trip in 2003.... I Honestly now am confused....... :?

Was it all in my mind??? I think i am going crazy.... either that or I am getting old.... I am turning 20 years old on March 10th so perhaps my memory is going

There was talk of a sequel a few years ago but sequel bashers ruined it and caused disney to give in to the hate.

If Disney wanted to do it, they would. They know that sequel bashers won't buy any DTVs they make, they sell them to the general public, especially kids. They don't really care what anti-sequelists say, they care more about what fans accepting of the sequel say (ie those who accept the sequels and hope for them to be good). Cinderella II was the top-selling Disney sequel that year, and from what I hear, one of the worst ones Disney has made.

I've heard rumours of a movie focused on the Dwarfs.

Do the dwarfs become samurais?

i'm glad they gave in and didn't make a sequel to Snow White. she's to much of a classic to ruin, besides where are they going to find someone who can do Snow perfectly along with the dwarfs. if they were to do a sequel it would have to be along the lines of Cinderella III's storyplot.
