Thanks for the merging of the topic, and for the welcome. I will have to search from now on. Interesting to see how everyone arranges, majority appears to be release dates. The only problem that occurs is running out of that shelve space, but I think that is a good problem, because that means your collection is getting bigger.

I have a total of one Disney DVD, and all of my VHS tapes are currently sitting in piles on my floor. xP

When I do arrange them on a shelf, I'll do it chronologically by the date of original release.

I could have sworn that I had posted here... :?

Oh well... :P

I have the Disney Animated Classics (2-D) first, in alphabetical order. - Lion King 2 is also here, and 1 1/2 will go there I guess... I don't have any other sequels.

Following the Animated Classics, I have Chicken Little & Dinosaur. Valiant probably *SHOULD* be with these, but I have it with the Non-Disney/Pixar CG movies...

After that, I have my Pixar films, again in alphabetical order. I have the Walt Disney Treasures in a stack in my hall closet, with most of my box sets & TV shows... I really need more space!

I ran out of room in my main DVD rack, but I have other Disney Animation in one batch, and then Disney Live-Action in another batch (with Vault Disney at the beginning.) I don't really bother with separating Miramax, Touchstone, and so on, except for Roger Rabbit.

The Studio Ghibli films are separated out, but they are on a shelf with anime right now, instead of Disney.

EDIT: I forgot to add, I consider the Muppets to be their own thing, so I have all my Muppet movies and other Jim Henson stuff together...

My collection is in chronological order. And it's more simple this way, since here there is number in each spine of Disney animated film (Snow White is number 1, Pinocchio number 2 etc. Chicken Little is classic number 45 btw).
After those are Treasures in no particular order, then other Disney animated films (=sequels, Dinosaur, Pooh films etc.) in chronological order. Then Pixar films and Disney's all live action films I have (including Hollywood Pictures, Touchstone Pictures and Miramax films).
All in chronological order in its own "section".

it varies constantly.

I own several DTV sequels, so those are next to the originals, if they have been released, e.g. Lady and the Tramp and the sequel are next to each other, same for Bambi and Bambi 2, Santa Clause and Santa Clause 2, CInderella dn Cinderella 2.......

Sometimes I change their positions on the shelf around and they're in order of platinum release. Its changing constantly. Someday maybe I'll have a nice Disney Only shelf, but right now they share the shelves with non disney movies (that's one reason they vary on arrangement).
Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

I organize my Disney DVDs chronologically, beginning with Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Pixar DVDs follow DVDs from WDFA, and The Nightmare Before Christmas is all by itself.

All of my DVDs (save for my Disney Platinums, which are by themselves) are shelved together in alphabetical order.

I don't have much space to work with, just a small bedroom. I'm overwhelmed by DVDs and toys, ha. Even by my lingering VHS collection, though I've cut that in half by now. Anyway, most of my DVDs aren't really organized, but I do have two special shelves. One is on my book shelf, where I have only horror DVDs (though I think a few didn't fit there). In front of them I have some monster action figures, including the horseman on horseback from Sleepy Hollow. The other shelf I have is a metal shelf like one might keep in their garage. A little nicer than that, I guess. It's short though, with only three levels. On the top level, I have some of my Disney stuffed toys. On the middle rack, I have most of my Disney animated feature DVDs. I have them in order by release date. However, I also have some of the sequels set right after the originals. Like Cinderella 2 is right after Cinderella, even though it was released decades later. Same with Jungle Book 2, Little Mermaid 2, etc... (I actually still need to get a few of the sequels, like the last 2 Lilo flicks and Mulan 2). Anyway, that's how I have them in order.

I moved my DVDs to a bigger shelving unit. All of the live-action DVDs (including my whopping 3 Disney ones), television shows, and music DVDs are in that unit, all in alphabetical order by category (Disney has their own).

On the other shelving unit I have the Disney classics in chronological order on the top shelf and half of the second one, all of the Pixar films in chronological order on the rest of the second shelf, the "other" Disney animated films on the third shelf in chronological order, all of the Studio Ghibli films in chronological order also on the third shelf, and then my "other" animated films by miscellaneous companies in alphabetical order on the rest of the third shelf and almost the entire bottom/fourth shelf. I'm considering giving Don Bluth's movies and Dreamworks SKG (not Aardman/Nick Park stuff) films their own categories.

All of my movies (disney or not) are in Alphabetical, but than I bought a new bookcase just for my Disney movies only, so now I've arranged them Chronologically, the Pixar ones are mixed in there too for when they were released, but that might change. After that I have my live actions for Disney in alphabetical order, followed by Disney T.V shows like Ducktales etc. and than the ONE and only Disney Treasure I have, after that it's anything Disney on VHS that I've either taped off t.v or has a few episodes on it. All of the feature length Disney movies are in the Chronological Part since I only have a small handful of DVD's right now
