I think that TV specials, as with the short films, would be a good means of carrying on with the Toy Story legacy without upsetting a pretty solid trilogy. I must say, however, that I really hope they come up with better titles, especially since they will be completely different sorts of films (i.e. half-hour specials for TV as opposed to theatrical feature films).

I'm sure they will - if you follow the link, the actual source doesn't use the terms "Toy Story 4" or 5... the site that posted the link is simply calling them that.

half-hour specials. So for each, we can expect about 15 minutes with an increasingly ridiculous amount of commercials.

Awesome, that's all I wanted them to do in the first place. Keep the franchise going, but if it sucks I can rest assured it was never a real movie anyway and in my mind wont really count towards the cannon. (if it actually fits and is good, all the better)

what's interesting is that this concept harkens back to "A Tin Toy Christmas", sort of bringing this franchise full-circle.

Notice he said "sequels" instead of "a sequel", meaning he was referring to more than just Monsters University (although that's really a prequel.)

Personally, I am not worried about sequels/prequels. So far they have announced several original movies (unless they can get canceled like Newt). And if sequels ARE announced, they might be for 2015, 2016 and and forward.

I think Pixar is employing the same technique as Dreamworks in that they release some movies that are completely original in addition to sequels to popular franchises. I think it's a sound strategy as it allows them to work on new ideas and projects while working on franchises that are guaranteed money makers that will keep them afloat.

I'm more interested in what he said about more original films on the way that we couldn't guess; if the concepts are as interesting as the ones in the upcoming film inside the human mind and Dia de los Muertas then I'll be very happy. In regards to sequels, if one of them is a sequel to The Incredibles then I would be happy. Other than that and possibly Finding Nemo, I don't see any other Pixar film that is an obvious candidate to have a possible sequel so I'll take the comments with a grain of salt and keep an open mind until the studio makes any official announcements.

For what? For making sequels? I get that people are worried that Pixar will abandon their original movies in favor of safe sequels that generate a lot of revenue. But like I just stated, what has been announced has been 100 percent original movies, with just one prequel film in existence, Monsters University.

And if sequels happen to be coming, they might happen in 2015 or so in addition to the original films. Besides, are we quick to forget that Pixar's most beloved franchise, Toy Story, has three films, a cartoon spin-off series, two theatrical shorts, smaller shorts for TV, several attractions at Disney and many other things? Oh right, because they were good. I don't mind sequels as long as they are good to great. The only sequel dud we have right now is Cars 2, and Monsters University is still quite far off. Sorry for the negative talk, I just... Well, I'm sure Pixar's got more than just sequels in mind for the next few years. At least, I hope they've got more original movies in mind. And I apologize for any negativity towards sequels at the moment. It's just that if the movie is not open-ended, it should stay that way. Especially in the case of a certain trilogy from Pixar. I just can't see a fourth movie happening. They closed the book with 3, but I don't really mind shorts, or Toy Story Toons.

Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to Monsters University.

I'm worried that Pixar is getting greedy. I've worried that the business side is gonna crush the creative side. They've gone from "no sequels unless they're awesome" and "some sequels if people want to work on them" to "we're making more sequels" in 4 years (?). They certainly don't need the money, they have great people there, they are not short of ideas.. so? Why all the sequels / prequels?
We've also read that TS3 and Monsters Uni were picked up by Pixar cause Disney had already started on them. Well, what if Uni can't be the film that TS3 was? And what's next? the cancelled nemo sequel?
I'm holding off my final judgement until I've seen Uni and Brave, but as I've said, my respect for Pixar has lessened greatly - and I have deep respect for they previous films and the people that worked on them.

PS. I know it's early, but Brave is not getting great reviews either
