A DTV lie of Walt Disney's characters without Walt's approval should not have an attraction in the parks...

A DTV anything should not have an attraction in the parks...

And this franchise which is not anywhere near the Disney Animated Classics should not have an attraction in the parks.

I might be okay with Neverland being where Pixie Hollow would be, and maybe a little tiny bit of it have a little Pixie Hollow, but otherwise no.

Pinocchio should be in Fantasyland, not Epcot! Epcot should be for science and history and "real" things that the fantasy characters just visit sometimes, because that's what it is! The fantasy and real stuff are seperate, so keep them to Walt's vision!

And doesn't Pinocchio have a "Village Haus" somewhere?

By the way, does anyone know, was Pixie Hollow ever mentioned in Peter Pan or J.M. Barrie's works? Was it on the map that Tinker Bell shows Peter Pan's hideout on in the original classic?
Disney Duster, it really is time to stop slamming the Disney Fairies franchise already.

You've stated your opinions loud and clear already. No need to become a broken record.

You keep saying what you think, too, in things like the Miley on the wall thread. And I changed to talking about the franchise in the parks now, not just if the franchise should be at all. Just as everyone else was talking about.

But anyway, did everyone else miss when I said it makes sense that Disny characters would visit Epcot, but not have their homes in it? Epcot is not for fantasy (looking at the imagination and non-magical ideas is different), maybe some of those characters based on countries' legends might be okay, but Fantasyland is for fantasy and that's where all the fantasy homes should be. There's no other way to slice it. Fantasyland is the home of Disney fantasy. The fantasy characters can visit Epcot but not have their homes there. Or their shops or restaraunts.

Why not just make the Village Haus look more like Gepetto's workshop and home? Then it would be like the Be Our Guest restaraunt which is at the Beast's castle.

That's not a bad idea at all! I don't know how people would feel about gift shops being attached to restaurants, but I think it'd make sense for Gepetto's shop. (Will the Be Our Guest restaurant have a gift shop?)

It might be of worth to note that there's an article about this in the new Disney Twenty Three Magazine issue that came out today.

Aw, Amy you always make people feel good. And amazingly always post new information on films and exciting projects...which also makes us feel good! And if you didn't keep it up, we would still like you, amazing Amy!

I think your idea and my idea applied to the village haus would work well...

I think only Belle's village should have a shop. It would make sense. Woah, it should totally have a book shop like the one she goes to in her village in the film (okay, it was the village library...).

"Made-up fairy friends!" OMG! You've been RIGHT the whole time, Disney Duster! It's a travesty! Why oh why should any made-up fairy have made-up fairy friends!?

Look, this is getting ridiculous. With the whole "Look, I'm trying to compromise with you so we can both get what we want." Does it really matter, honestly? The movie's been made, they're not going to re-make it just so that you can sleep safe and sound at night knowing (or not knowing!? That's the "fun part," right?) that there is no such thing as Pixie Hollow. Really, you're just sounding ridiculous. Honestly, it's hard not to respond to you, but I don't see why I bother saying anything anymore. If you want to cry into your pillow because the REAL Tinker Bell is in Never Land right now cutting herself because she's SO depressed that Disney has invented friends for her, then whatever. I just don't see what all the big fuss is about, and I'm going to try my best to ignore you from this point onward should you choose to continue your nonsensical rants.

But, on a positive note, you're exactly right about Belle's Bookshop. It's a brilliant idea, really! I mean, since Disney owns a publishing company, they could make a killing off of it, too! But.... are you sure you would want that? I mean, it might be a tad disrespectful. I mean, Belle never went to a bookstore, it was a library! If you don't have to return the books, it will shame the legacy of BatB as we know it! :o (But, I guess the fact that you're not arguing that point, well, yet anyway, shows that you have some sense... :) )

The big deal...is just because Walt Disney can't approve anything done to his characters, especially his film characters, he didn't want sequels to be made of his film characters, and I know I wouldn't want anyone saying something happened to my characters or making new characters for them, even if they were really good, after I was dead (unless I specified it was okay before my death).

You have talkec about why you disagree, I think, but I am just explaining why it's a big deal to me. Also, I don't really want to see things happen to my favorite, great, classic films that kind of changes them, unless I am able to think it didn't really happen (like Cinderella III), so I can enjoy it but say "well, it was only in a fake parallel altered time world." The fairy godmother says "Would you like me to return you to your former lives?" I think any sequel would just do something to my favorite orginal films, they would change how I see them, even ever so slightly (especially when they originally ended, "and they lived happily ever after").

As for Belle's book shop, that's a theme park, so that is a different medium. I's not a full-length movie, it's not in the same universe, but the theme park version. It's just different. Cinderella's castle isn't accurate to the film's castle either, and you bet I have a problem with that...but I understand it's a different, theme park version, not the "real" one from the film. Thank you for saying such positive things about my idea, though!!!

So the new coaster to replace the Barnstormer is now themed to clowns? Aw, I was hoping for something like Casey Jr. That would make sense.

Do we at least know what the coaster's name is?

All I'm trying to say is that none of it "Really Happened." You can go on thinking that it didn't "Really Happen." Just don't watch the movies, and then you'll never even know that what "happened" in them existed, and, for you, they will have never "Really Happened."

And did J. M. Barrie give permission to Walt to change his Peter Pan into Disney's Peter Pan? No, no he didn't. And, quite honestly, I don't think Barrie would have approved of Disney's Peter Pan. In my honest opinion, I think it's one of the weakest Disney films, plot-wise, even though it has a lot of very strong points. Would Walt approve of the Disney Fairies series? Most likely. Because in them, story is king, the gags are cute, the characters are loveable, and the visuals are breathtaking. And sure, Walt didn't like sequels, per se, but they've got a good thing going (like "The Three Little Pigs), and I'm sure he wouldn't have minded.

Same coaster, different theme.

I'm actually sad that the Barnstormer is loosing it theme. I was miles ahead of the other Vekoma Roller Skater models in terms of theme.

Oh Margos...it seems you keep forgetting some things I say. I mean, I guess it's okay because it just means some things are difficult to explain but it certainly is making me a little down.

Remember that Disney was created an adaptation, which is a version of something, not the very thing itself, and it has more creative freedom. But what the Disney people are doing today is not creating a new version of Tinker Bell (except that she is in CGI and has marks on her wings) but taking that same Walt Disney Tinker Bell and saying something happened to her when we don't know if Walt would approve of that story. Yes, it's very possible he might approve, but we can't know, and that's the truth there. But I was saying, it would be less bad if they said in the movie that it may or may not have really happened (may or may not have happened within the world Walt created), somehow, and so even people who watch the movie (instead of just ignoring the movie) can decide that or not.

You don't need to say anything else, I'm just saying you seemed to forget some things I've mentioned more than once. You just might not ever get what I mean but it's okay. I'm just expressing my wishes, and yes I think they should come true because then Walt would be more respected and you could decide for yourself whether what happened to Tinker Bell was true or not, you could believe it really happened (within the world Walt created) if you want, and you would want to, so then you could.

Further info on Fantasyland Forest
http://jimhillmedia.com/blogs/jim_hill/ ... -home.aspx

Info on the Be Our Guest restaurant:
Take – for example – the Be Our Guest restaurant which will be located at the very center of that Beauty & the Beast attraction that’s to be built as part of the Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland Forest expansion project. This giant facility – which will allow WDW visitors to dine in full-scale recreations of the Castle’s library, the West Wing & the Grand ballroom – will be a quick service restaurant for breakfast & lunch. But then – in the late afternoon – this space will then transform into an elegant full-service restaurant.

What’s more – as you sit there, enjoying your dinner – waiters & waitresses will push serving carts through each of this restaurant’s environments. And atop each of these carts will sit a Living Character Initiative version of a memorable supporting character from “Beauty and the Beast.” So imagine getting the chance to chat with Mrs. Potts or Lumiere as you dine in the Grand Ballroom. Or – better yet -- have Cogsworth point at his own face as he says “Oh, look. It’s almost time for dessert.”

Info on the "Dreams Come True with Cinderella" show:
Like how come no one’s put together yet that the “Dreams Come True with Cinderella” attraction that will be presented inside of the Tremaine Chateau in WDW’s Fantasyland Forest every 15 minutes is the exact same show that Tokyo Disneyland Guests will soon get to experience once this “Cinderella Castle Mystery Tour” replacement is installed at that theme park.

Which isn’t to say that the effects that will be presented as part of “Dreams Come True with Cinderella” show aren’t going to be absolutely spectacular. I was just talking with someone who’d seen the test footage for this attraction’s transformation sequence. Where Guests will get to see a live Cast Member – right before their eyes – transform from being this girl who’s dressed in rags to becoming a beautiful princess who’s ready to head out to the ball.

“I’m not going to tell you how this effect is actually achieved,” my source explained. “What I can tell you is that it’s not a Pepper’s Ghost effect or done with mirrors. The girl twirls around three times. And when she’s done, her hair & make-up are perfect. She’s even wearing the gown from the movie. What’s more – as soon as her transformation is complete – Cinderella then walks straight over to her Guests and then welcomes them to her meet-and-greet. People’s jaws are just going to drop open when they experience this portion of that Fantasyland Forest attraction.”

And yet, you just can't seem to remember that Walt didn't create Tinker Bell or Never Land, can you? And even if he did, there's a lot worse things to complain about. You see, the Disney Fairies series is an improvement on the Peter Pan universe. It isn't a blight, like Cinderella II.

No! The Tokyo Disney Attraction inside the castle was said to be a walk-through of Cinderella's story, just like the Sleeping Beauty walk-through! And it was supposed to have a recreation of the Grand Ballroom from the film! Making it be like the Tremaine Chateau inside that castle would not make sense! And we wouldn't get the dioramas or paintings or whaever else the walk-through was supposed to have!

Thank goodness it's just Jim Hill and he doesn't always know everything!

Margos, you're right about the one thing, but Walt Disney created his own adapted version of those characters, that are good, and well-loved. It's practically like creating something new, but the least it is is creating a fll-formed something out of words on paper.

As for the new franchise being an improvement...what the, Tinker Bell's bitchy personality in the original was faithful to Barrie's description! And anyway, what you said was opinion. I do not enjoy the Tinker Bell dtvs over the original classic Peter Pan, and I bet that goes for most people, too. And yes, the original classic is the better movie, too. The two things are almost so different you can't compare, though. You are right that it's better than Cinderella II though.

Fantasyland Cleaning
http://miceage.micechat.com/kevinyee/ky021110a.htm
(via disneyreport.com)
In the past few weeks, Mrs. Potts Cupboard (an ice-cream stand) in Fantasyland has received a facelift. Normally this would not be cause for too much attention. Such rehabs occur all the time, after all. But this particular event is associated with the massive Fantasyland expansion and retrofitting, part of which calls for a re-theming of the Pooh attraction façade. If Pooh is to change, then it stands to reason that Mrs. Potts would have to change also.

But if you look at the scale of the change—removing a tower window and replacing the slate roof with a thatched roof—then it's easy to start asking questions. It's not a dramatic change; in fact, it's a pretty insignificant change. And that, paradoxically, gives me fresh hope that the Fantasyland makeover will not be a hatchet job. In my opinion, if they are willing to expend significant resources to make a minor theming change, then this will be an expansion/makeover that pays attention to DETAILS, not only major capital improvements (i.e., new buildings). They could have easily left Mrs. Potts alone, and I'm not sure anyone would have noticed. That they didn't is an extremely positive development.

We’ve also heard that the Barnstormer kiddie coaster will be rethemed not only to Dumbo in general, but Dumbo's clowns in particular.

Tokyo's Mystery Tour has been gone for years now.

The show in Tokyo's Cinderella Castle will be the same, it doesn't have to take place in the Tremaine chateau for it to be the same show.
