At the Prince's request here's my introduction

Post by Commodore Barbosa »

Hey everyone, as I'm sure most of you know I joined just a week ago, and I've yet to really let anyone know who I am.

My real name is George, I'm 24 years old, and I'm going to school to be a police officer. Although I've always enjoyed Disney, I'm only recently becoming a "fanatic". My original affinity for Disney came from the animated shorts. I grew up watching Disney Channel (back when they actually showed shorts, and uncensored no less!!!), and many a Disney Beta Tape, like Kids is Kids, and Little Toot (I actually won both of these titles in a coloring contest when I was 5 years old, as well as a Mickey medallion, which is unfortunately long gone). I've watched most of the animated "classics", but as a kid I would have rather watched hours of the shorts (Looney Tunes too).

I'm a big fan of the Pixar movies, and up until recently, I was really unimpressed with official Disney offerings. You see, I was a teenager when Lion King, Aladdin, Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast hit the theaters, so I was kinda unable to really appreciate them, although I did like Lion King a lot, even as a teen. But I didn't see another traditionally Animated Disney Movie again till Lilo & Stitch, and that movie did wonders for me, my faith in Disney movies was renewed. Now I watch the movies in a completely different light, and I enjoy a lot of them a lot more for different reasons.

I consider myself somewhat of an animation aficionado, so the DVD medium has me spending more money than I should, and thanks to Walt Disney Treasures, I'm able to watch my favorite Disney offerings like they were meant to be seen (Now WB is following suit, man am I gunna be poor...)

Anyway, that's the jist of it, hope if helps you all get a little insight, and I hope to get to know all of you as well.

Hi guys. My name is Tom and I am 28 years old. I live in Albuquerque. I am a conservation biologist for an environmental consulting firm and a graduate student in environmental education--oh, and a cook in the Army National Guard :D

The first Disney movie I remember from the theatres is the Black Cauldron. It came out in 85 and I didn't see it agaiin until it was released on DVD and I bought it.

As I grew up I really enjoyed Disney. My dad has a ton of VHS tapes at his house of shorts that I recorded off of Wonderful World of Disney so I could watch them again and again.

Between the Black Cauldron and Little Mermaid I didn't see any movies in the theatres. My folks dragged me to TLM on night for a family outing and I was blown away. This was before the Internet so when I came home I jumped on the encyclopedias  to learn all I could about the story and mermaids in general.

Now, I am a Disney freak. I own way too many Disney DvDs my wife tells me but am getting more and more (they are worse than heroin--or so I hear). In two weeks I will be going back to Disneyland for my 3rd time in three years (once per year) and as a gift my wife is giving me a couple hours to myself where I can explore anything I want and not have to drag people around and explain to them why I find this particular thing interesting or convince them to stay five more minutes for this or that.

I am mainly into classic Disney. Disney Treasures are a godsend and I own all 7 and will get the next four on Dec. 2nd. My favourite is Disneyland USA. Also, everyone should get Walt, the Man Behind the Magic (or Myth or whatever it's called) on DVD. It's amazing and only available through DisneyStore.com or the DMC.
To all who come to this happy place, Welcome...Disneyland is your land...

Hi everyone! I just joined today and I just wanted to share my disney story.

Well, I started watching disney when I was probably in elementary school. One of my first memories is I went to visit my friend's house because she had just gotten the little mermaid on VHS. I loved it! I remember in 7th grade we were watching beauty and the beast in class and never got to the end so I had to run home and ask my parents to please rent it for me. And then came Aladdin, my most favorite disney cartoon, I must have watched that millions of times. After that, I started watching most of the disney cartoons.

My first disney dvd was the platinum edition of snow white. I could never really afford to buy disney dvds before because I was still in college, but my brother offered to buy it for me since he had just gotten his job. That's kind of when the dvd buying craze began. And also the excitement and anticipation of the aladdin platinum edition. Finally, it will be mine on dvd to be cherished forever!! :)

So that's my disney story

Jasmine rules does she?

Well, I can't say I'm surprised. She must have Aladdin wrapped around her little finger. It's pretty clear who wears the pants in that relationship. :)

Hi there! My name is Marcel(15 years old) and I´m from Germany. My little story began in 1992. I went in cinema to watch The Jungle Book. In 1994 I watched Lion King in cinema, too.The most disney movies I saw in cinema.I can rember seeing Mulan, Tarzan,Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast there.
On Video I have bought Snow White,Mulan,Lion King, Little Mermaid, and The Jungle Book.
On DVD I´ve got only Monster Inc., because I bought my DVD-Player in June this year. But now I begin to collect the Disney-DVD´s. :D
Lion King is ordered and i save my money for the Beauty and the Beast. :) My favourite Disney-Film is Mulan. In the German-Version of the movie Otto Waalkes, a well-known comedian, spoke Mushu.
That was so funny and good, that I really love this Film.
PS: Sorry when I made some grammar mistakes. I´m still learning English. :)

This topic has been around for quite some time, but I have never written here... well, I think that it is because I really don't have a very interesting or long story regarding Disney animation.
Well, I'm called Matheus and I'm 14 (actually, I'll be turning 15 on December 21 - the same day of the original premiere of "Snow White"). It all began in 1993, when I won my first Disney VHS as a Christmas gift from my aunt. It was "Beauty and the Beast", and I imediatly fell in love with it. I used to watch it almost every day. Then, in 1994, my parents took me to watch "The Lion King" (the first time I went to the theater), and I was blown away.
After that, I started collection Disney videos... I remmeber my second VHS was "Snow White" and the third one was "The Lion King". Every weekend I also used to rent Disney films (that's when I discovered "Sleeping Beauty" and "Little Mermaid", which became very special films to me). I also watched every Disney feature in theaters released after TLK, someof them many times."Pocahontas" and "Hunchback" also became favorites (I used to go to every video store looking for them, asking if they had already been released on video).
From 2000 to 2002, a friend of mine and I had a Disney home page, which was called "Disney News".

I bought my first Disney DVD in 2000 and it was.... yikes, "An Extremely Goofy Movie" At leat the second one was worth it, it was "The Jungle Book". By now, I have almost all the classics on DVD (I just don't have "Make Mine Music" and "Ichabod", which have not been released here for years), and the ones that weren't released on disc (Cindy, Bambi, Aladdin) I have on VHS. I also buy Disney live-actions (specially the Vault Disney editions), Pixar films, collections of shorts, Disney Treasures and I have some DTV as well.

My father thinks I won't care about Disney when I get older, but he is wrong... DISNEY ROCKS!!! :D

Well, there are a few of us "oldtimers" (I'm 31) that can vouch for the fact that you are NEVER too old to enjoy Disney films.

I wonder what my story is...

[Cue Brady Bunch Music]

Here's the story of a man named Reader
Who was bringing up one very loverly girl.
She had hair as dark as her mother's
but it didn't have any curls.

Here's the story of a man named Disney
Who was busy making magic of his own
All his films were for children
the best ones were all drawn

A long time a go this fellow met Disney's films
and he knew that it was much more than a hunch
that this boy would grow to be a man
and show the films to the Reader Bunch

I was the youngest so my parents bought VHS for my order brothers and sisters my first Disney Video I saw was the Little Mermaid in 1990 I remember the day my parents bought it when it came out on Video. My parents had most of the collection on video from Snow White to Little Mermaid at the time my friends would always come over to see the Disney movies. Then in 1993 I went to Disneyland I was about 9 at the time I still remember Captain EO starting Michael Jackson in 3-D but Disney took it out in 1998. I remember watching the Aladdin Parade and Fantasmic for the first time. Then I went in 1994,1995,1999 I didn't go for a while because of my studies at High School and College. But now I work and go to college I go to Disneyland about every week. I have the Passport. I had the Passport for 3 years already since 2001 back then I would go one time per month.

I watch so many Disney movies at the theatre and that’s how I became a Disney freak I now buy the good DVD's that comes out for Disney.

Hi, I am new here. I'm 14 years old. I've been loving disney forever. The first movie I saw in theaters was Aladdin. After that I saw Lion King, Pochanotas, Hercules, and Tarzan. When I was younger I got all the animated classics. My favorite year in Disney was 1985 becauase that was the year the Black Cauldron and the Gummi Bears came out. I collect all Disney annimated films. I am not really fond of Pixar. When Kiki's Delivery Service came out I loved it. When the two other Chibli fims came out I was stunned they were beautiful. I loved Castle in the Sky. Currently the only Disney films I say I don't have areThe Jungle Book 2, Piglett's Big Movie, Stitch the Movie, An Exteremly Goofy Movie, Mickey's Snowed in at the Houde of Mouse, Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas, and The Brave Little Toaster to the Rescue. I get all sequels. I am currently trying to change all my VHS to DVD CE, SE, or PE.
