I don't understand why I never seem to see TLK in stores. It doesn't go OOP until January, yet it seems to be gone or near-gone in every store I go in.
I've sent in a restocking order for it for several of the stores I work with, so they should be arriving. We'll see, I guess.

There aren't any slipcovers on TLKII's at Sam's Club. Do they take them off or do some stores just get copies without them? With TLK1 1/2 they came with Slipcovers AND a wholesale club packaging (you know, the extra long boxes they have for some strange reason).Luke wrote:Sorry I missed your question. I have no idea, but based on your logic, I'd say it'll probably have a slipcover through when it officially goes OOP. But then I don't know how long the others' slipcovers have stuck around. I think The Lion King's is indefinitely around, whereas 1.5 was probably only a few months?awallaceunc wrote:Luke- do you know if TLK2 will be losing its slip cover since it's only a few months away from going OOP anyways?
They also sent me a slip for Beauty and the Beast. Not to Germany, but to a friend's address in the states.
I'd just email them and ask:
feedback@dvd-videosupport.com
Doesn't hurt and doesn't cost anything.
bye,

Mulan slipcover...
I was in a stor today, and to my amazement they had Mulan on the shelves already! However, the selling price was $20 and I felt sure I'd be able to get it for less if I held off, so I'm waiting for Tuesday.
Anyway, somthing dissapointed me about the packaging. The slipcover did not open like a book. It was just a cardboard sleeve, which I think really sucks. Between seeing that and reading Luke's review all my enthusiam for this release had died away. Hopefully when I'm watching it, it will be fully restored...

I work at a grocery store that sells movies and the one week we put the movie Signs out a week early and no one cared. I told my managers that it was a week too early and they said that no one told them when to put it out. Geez, too bad we didn't get in trouble since then it would pop some sense in there head.

LOL!Jack wrote:When you think about it, its kind of funny: everyone wants the DVD to be like a book.

That is a bit disappointing that it's like a book overseas but here it doesn't. It's alwo weird that other stores put them on shelves earlier too. Our Acme does it all the time!
ETA: I just remembered that Mulan went into the vault with Snow White back in 2002. How long do the in the vault movies stay in the vault? I thought it was 5-10 years.

Actually all stores gets all releases well in advance of street date. They have to be scanned in to the store's inventory and there for inspection by reps prior to their release. The Monkey's Uncle is quite correct in saying that they'd have the potential for being in serious trouble for releasing it early, depending on the store and the circumstances. He's also right in that "Do Not Display Until..." is prominently displayed on the shipping boxes. It's definitely the store's fault.Shauniew wrote:Sorry but for God's sake, if they supply the shops too soon then it's their own fault!
