Nobody ever said you had to. Geez, I was only making a joke; that's why I place a ;) behind my reply. Keep your rolling eyes to yourself, please.

I finally got to watch a few of the movies on my list, but I'm not talking about which yet. I did add onto it however if anyone's interested to check out my post.

It's been about a year since I made my list, and I'm curious to see how many of the films I posted on my list that I got to see.
Avaitor wrote: Beauty and the Beast (Cocteau)
Saw it, and really enjoyed Cocteau's take on the classic story, about as much as Disney's.
Avaitor wrote: Breathless
Also got to see this one. It's a classic of cinema, so full of style and simple coolness. I'm sadly ignorant to the rest of Godard's filmography though.
Avaitor wrote: Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?
This is a really creepy flick, but great fun! You gotta love Joan Crawford and Bette Davis' performances.
Avaitor wrote: My Fair Lady
This was a bit better than I was expecting, but I still think that Mary Poppins was robbed at the Oscars. Don't regret the viewing, though.
Avaitor wrote: The Battle of Algiers
Wow, this is such a powerful film. One of the handful of movies I'd recommend for everyone to see.
Avaitor wrote: They Shoot Horses, Don't They?
I only saw this a few weeks ago. It's a good movie, but the ending rubs me the wrong way.
Avaitor wrote: Harold and Maude
Hah, this is a fun cult classic, although the Cat Stevens soundtrack really annoyed the hell out of me.
Avaitor wrote: Paper Moon
Really enjoyed this flick. Tatum O'Neal's performance was great.
Avaitor wrote: Enter the Dragon
Pretty freaking awesome kung-fu flick.
Avaitor wrote: Jesus Christ Superstar
Wow, I've really succeeded on catching up with this list, huh? :P Too bad this one sucked HARD.
Avaitor wrote: Badlands
My first Terrence Malick movie, and I really really enjoyed it. The scenery is to die for.
Avaitor wrote: The Last Detail
Another good movie, with some really sharp dialogue.
Avaitor wrote: Amarcord
It's Fellini, you either get it or you don't. I dug it, but it's not one of my favorites of his that I've seen.
Avaitor wrote: The Conversation
This one has a depressing story, with a happy ending. I rented it from Netflix a few months ago and was getting into it, but about 45-50 minutes in, the DVD crapped out on me, and no matter how much I wiped the disc with a towel cloth, I couldn't get it to continue.

My plan was to wait a little to try renting it again on Netflix, but about a month ago, I saw that it was streaming on instant queue. I immediately caught up with where I left off, and finished the film. Good stuff.
Avaitor wrote: The Man Who Would Be King
Good stuff. Kipling's material made for some great adaptations.
Avaitor wrote: Close Encounters of the Third Kind
I saw the original 1977 flick, and dug it. I'm not sure if I'm interested in the director's cuts though.
Avaitor wrote: The Deer Hunter
Meh, this one doesn't really hold up to me. It felt too long for it's own good.
Avaitor wrote: Kramer vs. Kramer
This was pretty decent. I don't think it's Best Picture material myself, but it does fit the Academy's criteria, so whatever.
Avaitor wrote: Being There
"I like to watch"

'nuff said.
Avaitor wrote: Ordinary People
Okay, this is the first one on here that I haven't seen yet. Netflix only just recently had it available to rent, so it's on my queue, but there's still a really long wait. I can handle the wait, though.
Avaitor wrote: Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior
I caught this on AMC a while ago, Badass flick 8)
Avaitor wrote: Fitzcarraldo
This is actually next on my queue, so hopefully I'll see it soon!
Avaitor wrote: The King of Comedy
Oooh, I did something badddd with this one.

So my friends and I used to have a bad movie night, before the guy who hosted it left for school a few months ago. Normally I would bring a movie over, but I didn't really have anything appropriate for the night, but I did have this from Netflix, so I snuck it in. Not a bad movie at all, but hey, we had some fun with it anyway. ;)
Avaitor wrote: Scarface
A little overlong, but there's some good stuff. Is it just me though, or is Tony Montana the biggest idiot in all of film?
Avaitor wrote: The Breakfast Club
I remember the first time I watched The Breakfast Club. It was an April night at 2 am, during spring break, and I couldn't sleep, so I put it on.

And... I don't get it. Am I too old to have any attachment to the characters and dialogue if I saw the movie for the first time as a sophomore in college? Because I thought it was actually kind of annoying.
Avaitor wrote: Tampopo
This isn't able to rent on Netflix. :/ I'll try to find another way to see it eventually, since it really does interests me.
Avaitor wrote: Coming to America
Ooh, I really liked this one. Eddie Murphy and Keith David gave me a lot of laughs here.
Avaitor wrote: The Last Temptation of Christ
I had a lot to say when I first saw this film, but it's been a few months, and I have a lot of other movies to go through. :P

But I definitely liked it better than Jesus Christ Superstar, that's for sure.
Avaitor wrote: Kiki's Delivery Service
Nope, haven't seen this yet, and watching JesuOtaku's Ghibli video retrospectives, it doesn't seem like the type of movie that I'd like, Miyazaki or not.
Avaitor wrote: JFK
I really liked this one, ya happy, Goliath? :P
Avaitor wrote: 12 Monkeys
Kick-ass flick!
Avaitor wrote: Boogie Nights
When I saw this movie, I briefly wanted to get into the porn industry. That initiative has died out, but I just felt like mentioning that.
Avaitor wrote: The Celebration
Haven't got around to it yet, but it'll make it to my queue eventually.
Avaitor wrote: Rushmore
I liked this, but it isn't one of my favorite Wes Anderson films. In fact, it kind of feels like, there's no meaning to the movie at all, in a bad way.
Avaitor wrote: In the Mood for Love
What an amazing movie!
Avaitor wrote: Punch-Drunk Love
This is the best Adam Sandler film I've ever seen. That isn't saying much.
Avaitor wrote: The Lord of the Rings trilogy
Y'no what, I think I'm going to wait to see The Hobbit movies before I go through LOTR. Sounds crazy, but it might be the best method.
Avaitor wrote: Dead Man's Shoes
I liked this one, but not really loved. It's a decent modern horror film though.
Avaitor wrote: 127 Hours
I actually have this rented from Netflix right now! I'll be watching it soon hopefully. :)
Avaitor wrote: Tarzan, the Ape Man
I tried to watch this on TCM a few days after making this post, but I gave up around 20 minutes in. Didn't really keep my interest.
Avaitor wrote: Rocco and His Brothers
I actually have this on my DVR, again, from TCM, but I haven't seen it yet. I should change that soon.
Avaitor wrote: Blow-Up
This is a really weird, but cool, film. I don't think I get the ending, but at the same time, I really liked it.
Avaitor wrote: The Last Picture Show
I love the black and white cinematography on here a lot, and this helped to get me interested in watching Red River. So yeah, I like it.
Avaitor wrote: Eraserhead
Nope, not yet. I'll try to eventually.
Avaitor wrote: The Blues Brothers
Another kick-ass movie.
Avaitor wrote: The Color Purple
I liked it, although I don't think that Spielberg was the right director for the story. It isn't anywhere near as personal as Schindler's List, and is it just me, or is the movie too polished for it's own good?
Avaitor wrote: Peggy Sue Got Married
I saw a few minutes of the movie, but not the whole thing. Some day I'll try to.
Avaitor wrote: Matador
Law of Desire
Nope and nope. I am totally ignorant to Pedro Almodovar.
Avaitor wrote: Heavenly Creatures
Had to fix my blatant typo, lol.

But nope, haven't seen it yet.
Avaitor wrote: Braveheart
A lot better than I was expecting. Mel Gibson really pulled this one off, IMO.
Avaitor wrote: Requiem for a Dream
Haven't seen it yet, unfortunately.

Well, maybe most of these are not famous in a mainstream way, but are well-received by those who have seen them. I can't really think of too many big movies that I haven't seen, besides stuff from the past few years that weren't a blip on my radar at all.

There's a pretty good selection in there. The Master's up in my Netflix queue, and as much as I love Larsson's novels, there are just some things that I don't want to see on film, but a lot of these are highly recommended. Nashville, 8 1/2 and Liberty Valance in particular.

Another year, another time for me to see what I've seen from my list from the last year.
Ordinary People
Yep, I got around to watching this just before Netflix put it up on instant. I can see good in it, but Best Picture of 1980? I dunno.
Fitzcarraldo
Man, what a fascinating watch. I really need to see Burden of Dreams, too.
Tampopo
Since this DVD still isn't in print, I looked it up online when reading some more about it. It's good.
The Celebration
Got around to this one too. Yikes, there's some really strong character study here, but the handheld camerawork was a little much for me at times.
Rocco and His Brothers
I think this is still on my DVR, haha. I'll get to it soon.
Eraserhead
This is at the top of my Netflix queue, actually. But it's taking its sweet time to come here.
Peggy Sue Got Married
Matador
Law of Desire
Heavenly Creatures
Requiem for a Dream
War and Peace (60's version)
The Tenant
Play It Again, Sam
Nope to any of these. It's hard since some aren't on Netflix, and one of them is INSANELY long, but we'll see.
Smokey and the Bandit
God, I love this movie. Just a hoot. RIP Hal Needham
The English Patient
It had strengths, but I can't say it was a true Best Picture.
Queen Margot
Not yet, no.
Harvey
Ooh, I like this one. Jimmy Stewart knocked it out of the park, as usual.
Easy Rider
I've actually seen this a couple of times since last year, which should say what I thought about it. Killer music, nan.
The Shop Around the Corner
I caught this around Christmas time last year on TCM. It's another good one with Jimmy.
Matewan
Nope.
Raising Arizona
I'm not much of a Coen brothers fan, but this one made me laugh a few times. John Goodman was one of my highlights, like in The Big Lebowski, the one movie of theirs that I really like.
A Matter of Life and Death
I've really grown to like the Archers in the past year. Their use of color is to die for, and this is easily one of their finest.
The Last of the Mohicans
Good Daniel-Day Lewis performance! I haven't read the book so I don't know how it compares, but I liked it.
Tokyo Story
Best movie ever? I'm not so sure. But I recommend it.
The Umbrellas of Cherbourg
It's actually pretty depressing, but wow is this a well-made movie that instantly borders on lovely.

There are many famous films that I've never seen (at least from start to finish), but I'll try and narrow it down to films I really want to see.

The Godfather Part I
The Godfather Part II
Harvey
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
It's a Wonderful Life
Ben Hur
The Big Sleep
The African Queen
Guess Who's Coming to Dinner
Psycho
Vertigo
North by Northwest
From Here to Eternity
Duck Soup
The Gold Rush
Modern Times
The Great Dictator
Persepolis
Grave of the Fireflies
My Neighbour Totoro
Waltz with Bashir
The Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi
The Darjeeling Express
Der Untergang (Downfall)
Metropolis (20s German expressionist sci-fi film)

There are also a lot of foreign films I'd like to see (as in films from non-English speaking countries), mainly because I feel I don't watch enough foreign cinema. And now for some Disney titles I've never seen (or never seen all the way through) but feel I ought to:

Wreck-it Ralph
Cars 2 (mainly just to say that I've seen every Pixar film - don't have much motivation to watch it though, to be fair)
Frankenweenie (re-make)
Treasure Island
The Story of Robin Hood
Darby O'Gill and the Little People
Old Yeller

Mine is an extremely long list, as I've had a methodically slow start escaping that genre comfort zone I've been in most of my life. Despite only recently turning 20, I do realize I have some catching up to do.

Amongst the ever-changing list, in chronological order:
The Birth of a Nation
Safety Last!

Frankenstein (1931)
Shanghai Express
Grand Hotel
A Farewell to Arms
King Kong (1933)
42nd Street
Duck Soup
Mutiny on the Bounty (1935)
The Great Ziegfeld
Reefer Madness (1936)
Freaks
Swing Time
The Life of Emile Zola
Lost Horizon
Captains Courageous
Boys Town
The Adventures of Robin Hood

On the Disney front, about 80-85% of their live action back catalogue remain unexplored, particularly any non-animated film between the 50s-90s (20,000 Leagues, Treasure Island, Shaggy Dog, Pollyanna, Darby O'Gill, Parent Trap, Apple Dumpling Gang, Condorman, etc.) and most of the Touchstone/Hollywood library.

Let me know if I'm missing any essentials.
