What? And no Stromboli or the Coachman? What about the Blue Fairy?Mason_Ireton wrote:Quite curious bout the cover, we all know it'll have Pinocchio/Jimminy Cricket on top, FoulFellow (the Fox) and Gideon (the Cat) on the bottom left/right. And the back will have Figaro, Cleo and Gepetto tryin to escape Monstro

I think, with this being the platinum edition and with them REALLY trying to promote Blu-ray, that the Blue Fairy will be on the case cover.
I think the cover will feature Pinocchio, Blue Fairy, Geppetto, Figaro, Jiminy Cricket, Monstro, and maybe Cleo.
I think Honest John, Gideon, Stromboli, & maybe Pinocchio as a donkey will be on the back of the cover along with smaller pictures of the characters on the front cover.
As far as the disc art (full color artwork on disc LOL), I think Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket will be on disc one and the Blue Fairy will be on disc 2.
I HOPE this is the way they do it!

I think Pinocchio will have lots of extra features!
I don't think that the Pinocchio DVD/Blu Ray disc will be short of features at all , as it is a movie which has always been highly thought of by animation buffs such as Leonard Maltin et al , as it was only Disney's second feature , and was being made at a time when Disney still put animation first , and money second these days it's very much the opposite way around!!
I would imagine that it may have a feature on Gustav Tenggren's artwork , which , like his work on Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs ,was a major influence on both features. I'm sure that there will be a long Making Of documentary with lots of extra features, picture galleries etc.
The multiplane camera will probably be heavily featured too as it was widely used in Pinocchio from the very beginning of the movie to add great depth to the scenes , all the things moviegoers take for granted nowadays were great leaps forward in the late 1930's early 1940's!
This was Disney's second animated feature and they were going to do it right to better their first effort the stunning Snow White and bring audiences flooding into the movie theatres!

To Make Doubly Sure Bring Back Her Heart In This!!
Sadly, the movie was NOT a big hit at the time of its release. The World was already at war, and overseas performance was pretty weak. Back then, no one seemed to appreciate the film. It took a lot of re-releases for it to finally gain masterpiece status.
And its a great thing, too, because the movie does so many things right you would never think this was Disney's SECOND film.
My favorite scene EVER would have to be the discovery of Pleasure Island's TRUE intentions. The scene in which Lampwig turns into a donkey is a great example of how you can convey horror and human torture without showing guts, blood or even have the film be a horror one. I was enthralled by the scene when I was a kid. Lampwig literally goes insane as he turns into a donkey. The music, the camera work and the genuine look of stun and horror on Pinocchio's face is amazing to say the least.

Re: I think Pinocchio will have lots of extra features!
I would love to see a very long "making-of" documentary, probably as long as, if not longer than, the Snow White making-of. And a bonus on Tenggren would be an excellent inclusion as wellDeco King wrote:I would imagine that it may have a feature on Gustav Tenggren's artwork , which , like his work on Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs ,was a major influence on both features. As for the multiplane camera, I have the feeling that they will simply reuse the footage on the camera as featured in that episode of the Disneyland TV show called "Tricks of Our Trade", which they used for the DVDs of both Snow White and Bambi.
You know what else would be a nice inclusion? A little featurette on Jiminy Cricket, and it would be featured in the same style as the Tinker Bell featurette on the Peter Pan DVD.

Well, the reason I asked was because they have been notorious for skimping out on the bonuses on past DVDs lately.Deco King wrote:I don't think that the Pinocchio DVD/Blu Ray disc will be short of features at all , as it is a movie which has always been highly thought of by animation buffs such as Leonard Maltin et al , as it was only Disney's second feature , and was being made at a time when Disney still put animation first , and money second these days it's very much the opposite way around!!

Well, both the recent Sleeping Beauty and the upcoming Wall-E seem to be quite generous on the bonus material, so let's hope Disney keeps up these standardsBig Disney Fan wrote:Well, the reason I asked was because they have been notorious for skimping out on the bonuses on past DVDs lately.Deco King wrote:I don't think that the Pinocchio DVD/Blu Ray disc will be short of features at all , as it is a movie which has always been highly thought of by animation buffs such as Leonard Maltin et al , as it was only Disney's second feature , and was being made at a time when Disney still put animation first , and money second these days it's very much the opposite way around!!

Wow! Can't wait for the next Platinum Edition DVD to come out next year. "Pinocchio" is got to be my all time favorite movie. I first saw it in a theater back when I was a infant like 3 months old where my parents took me to the movies to see "Pinocchio" since it was reissued back in 1978 with a Disney 30-minute short "The Small One", a holiday classic which was included in the "Classic Holiday Favorites" DVD.
I've seen it from the beginning all the way to the end. I always loved this film a lot until now. That's where I started getting into Disney so early.
"Pinocchio" was the very first Disney film I ever saw as a child. I have the 1992 "Masterpiece" VHS edition, but I can't wait for the Platinum Edition to come out. I would love to see this movie to death. This brings back some memories of my childhood. When it comes out on DVD, I should pop in "The Small One" first, and then I will pop in "Pinocchio" last. This reminds me of taking me back to 1978 since I was a baby back then.

i thought he recorded "Second Star to the Right".rs_milo_whatever wrote:There's actually some that aren't that bad...in fact Jesse McArtney covered When You Wish Upon a Star once and it was pretty good.
It would be a better idea to make a video for that cover even though it's been a good four years since that particular Disneymania was realeased
but Disney and Hollywood Records have no good acts lately and we know they only use the most recent ones...
well Hayden Pannettiere and the Jonas Brothers aren't that bad
