To be fair, the fates of the villians have been thier own doing.
Goblin- tried to kill Peter, but ended up killing himself
Doc Ock- sacrificed himself for others
Eddie- went in after the symbiote (after being saved by Peter) and exploded
Harry- sacrificed himself for Peter
Sandman- decided it was better to be forgiven and walk (rather, float) away

I know that, but by them dying itruins them from other movies, one is the Sinister 6.Dock oc is a member of that group

According to a interview by Sam Raimi Doc Ock might not be dead. Although its pretty clear that he did "die" at the end of Spider-Man 2.

No Actually Harry was not the Hobgoblin... The refered to him as simply "The New Goblin" a documentary said that they would think that harry would take his fathers technology and enhance it but not wear the Green Goblin name... Just use similair weapons. Harry (in the movie) was never refered to as the Hobgoblin...... Although if you ask me Im Goblin'ed Out...... He took his fathers place as the New and Improved Green Goblin... at least thats how I took it as

If I remember right, Lizard was supposed to be the villian for the first film, so him being in the series wouldn't be too much of a stretch.

I personally would love to see Electro. Though, his suit would look silly onscreen.

LOS ANGELES - Spider-Man caught just about everyone in his web. The super hero's latest adventure, "Spider-Man 3," smashed box-office records with a $148 million haul in its first three days, according to studio estimates Sunday.

That put it ahead of the previous all-time weekend debut of $135.6 million set last summer by "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest."

With $59.3 million on opening day Friday, "Spider-Man 3" also broke the single-day box-office record, also held by "Dead Man's Chest" with $55.8 million in its first day.

I doubt Spider-Man 3 will be able to break Pirates' total box office record of 421 million. Pirates 3 will stop it in its tracks.

Trust me, with it making this much money, there's no way they aren't doing any more. In fact, they are already planning the next three.

Plus, Tobey Macquire never said he wouldn't do another one. He said that it would have to have a great script, which took the story in a different direction.

I was less than impressed with "Spiderman 3." I really liked it up to the scene in the Jazz club. Was it just me, or was it taken directly from Jim Carrey in "The Mask"? After that, the whole thing began to fall apart. I can't really talk about it in detail without spoilers, so highlight below if you want to read more.
The obvious foreshadowing in the begining was a HUGE giveaway that Harry would die saving Spiderman. "I have the best friends. I would die for them." It was not subtle at all. All of my friends picked up on it. I liked the whole internal battle with revenge, but the slime thing felt out of place in the movie. The whole venom thing probably works well in the comics and animated series, but it made the film feel more like a kids film as opposed to trying to appeal to everybody. The black suit was cool and there were some neat special effects. However, I hate when sequels try to act like something that happend in the previous film didn't really happen, such as them having the wrong killer. It was kind of annoying to rehash the "search for the killer" subplot. And since Kirsten Dunst isn't coming back for any more sequels, why didn't they find a way to end that relationship? I know that in the comics, Peter had a girlfriend before Mary Jane and she died. I figured they would use that plot for Mary Jane and introduce the other girl if there is a next film. I hate when characters are recast in sequels. So in the end, I thought it was just ok. I expected more and the ending didn't have a big enough resolution. That plus too many villians with not enough motive made this the worst of the three films for me.

I just checked Zoomtown (I use it for my e-mail), and it is reporting that Spidey 3 brought in 148 million dollars. I think it said that it broke a record. I'm not a fan, but I guess a lot of people are.

DK - did/do you follow the Spider-Man comics? I've noticed that, at least among my friends, those who did seem to have liked the movie a lot more than those who didn't. I'm wondering if there's something to that of if it's just coincidence.

I'm actually not a fan of the comics. I mean, I've read a couple out of curiosity, but most of what I know from the comics I've learned from places like Wikipedia, fan websites/message boards, and documentaries on comic book lore. I knew pretty much nothing about the comic storylines the film is based on, so I saw it more for what it is. I find it surprising that the people who loved it most in your group were the comic fans. I saw the film with two friends who are huge fans of the comics, and while they liked the film, they kept ranting about how it deviated from the source material more than the first two films did, and how Venom was barely in the film. I was easily the biggest supporter of the movie out of our group, and I was the one with the smallest amount of knowledge. Funny how that works.

Oh, and another gripe I have with the film (yes, I think the movie is very flawed despite the fact that I love it) is the camera work in the action sequences. It was too up in the actors' faces so that half the time, all you could make out were blurs on the screen. I'm sure this will be less of an issue on DVD than in theaters, but I felt the camera needed to be a bit further away to take in everything like in the action sequences for 1 and 2. And yet on top of that, the camera work in other places in those same action sequences was great (the shots where the camera would go on and on, spinning around the characters without cutting away for long periods). It's like two different people directed the sequences: Sam Raimi (the extended, flowing shots) and Michael Bay (the in-your-face, shaky ADD cam).

You know, I don't doubt that, one bit. Money talks, and if they offer him enough of it, he'll do it. No doubt about it. Same goes for the rest of the cast.

Now to my review of the film. I loved it. I don't know what many of you see so wrong with it? It was in the vain of the other films. It had more heart than the previous two, but, it still had that humor, the action, and it's all about the girl.

It's a summer popcorn flick, and even if it isn't perfect, I found it to be quite entertaining. Granted, I don't follow the comics, so I don't know about the back story, what is supposed to happen, and what isn't. All I can say is, putting this film into context with the others, it works. I have to say that I really enjoyed it. I loved all of the villians, I loved the fact that it didn't bring closure to Peter and M.J's relationship, and I loved the action sequences. I was very pleased with it. I guess I'm in the minority here at UD. That's okay. I've never been afraid of being in the minority!
