I don't know what to say to that. I don't know how anyone could not have fun with it?! Aside from it being a totally different, interactive way to play games, there are so many things that you can do on Wii. You can surf the net, download classic games, read up on the news and check the weather from around the world, view photos, view video/movie clips, listen to music, and so much more!

Plus, there are some great games already out, and many more on the way. If you have a Wii, and aren't enjoying it, then that's because you aren't taking advantage of everything it can do. If you don't have a Wii, but, only have a little exposure to it, then you really aren't qualified to judge it.

I can honestly say that I haven't had as much fun with a video game system, since the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.

Here you might be, because some people act like the Wii is the 2nd coming of Christ himself.

Come on, don't be ridiculous! Nobody has ever said that Wii is the 2nd coming of Christ, nor is anyone acting like that. It's just that people are passionate about things they like, and expressing an opinion is far from acting like something is the 2nd coming of Christ.

It's out this week in the US, and hopefully it will come Down Under this week as well. I've only got about 700 points left, so I'll need to buy some more for it. It is the one game I have been waiting for since the whole Virtual Console thing came about!

Dave's post was an example of sarcasm which is a type of humor in which irony or exaggeration often plays a role.

Funny you couldn't catch that, considering you once claim to "read between the lines", eh?

Okay, Timon/Pumbaa fan. That's it. I've had enough of you, and your continued attacks on me. I'm reporting this to Luke, since you can't seem to stop personally attacking me, as he suggested. In fact, you should be banned, and I hope that you are. You are being rude, you like to provoke people, and do not let anything go. Because of that, I feel you should not be allowed on these boards.

T/P fan, I will have to ask you to remember that personal attacks aren't allowed here. The way I read your post, it seems like you were trying to be clever and sarcastic more than seriously take a swipe at MadonnaManOne's character, but the very fact that he can take it that way indicates that there's a problem here. I suggest that if you have a history of butting heads with another forum member, then it's best not even to wade into a territory where they feel like you are making personal attacks against them. Sounds like there's a grudge that you've both got to let go of. You both are upstanding forum members who have been posting here a long time. And you should both know that going after one another doesn't benefit anyone and it certainly doesn't contribute in a positive way to a discussion.

As a final note applicable to all: Please be considerate of your fellow forum members and refrain from attacking them personally. Thanks!

And now back to our regularly-scheduled Nintendo Wii discussion...

Here I was thinking Wiis were meant to bring people TOGETHER. As it turns out, they are evil and devisive and destroyers of televisions :)

Yes but there are still these games that the US have got that we havn't yet:

Vigilante
R-Type III
The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past
Super Mario World

while I'm hoping we get SMW and ALttP this week, I think it's one or the other, both are doubtful and since ALttP has been out in the US longer than SMW it has more chance

Seriously, whoever threw their Wii-Mote through a Plasma TV must have been a fly-fisher or something. I've never had problems keeping ahold of my controller, and I took OFF the little (worthless) strap.

Also, how do I connect to their Internet to buy the old-school games? I still haven't figured this out... :|

Thanks,

Um.... no, we don't have one. We might get one with our new computer, but it's only a possibility right now. Is it the only way to play online with the Wii?

you could buy the Wii LAN adapter but you'd still need broadband

The LAN adapter seems quite good, but there is a third option as well. I have a wired broadband connection, and I got myself a Nintendo USB Wi-Fi Connector. It simply hooks into your existing PC/laptop/whatever home computer you use (although I'm told it presently only works with Windows XP), and acts as a wireless point for the Wii and DS consoles. Takes about 5 minutes to set up, by installing a few files, and you are set. If your existing cable/broadband is fast, most games will download in minutes. I'm going to go grab some more points on the way home (I still refuse to use my credit card details through the Wii for some reason) and download Super Mario World when I get home. Many of the USB Connectors in the shops only mention their DS compatibility, but rest assured, they work with the Wii as well.

As for the TV destruction, JM, I'm baffled too. Even with the supposedly 'weak' wristbands, I can't for the life of me see how people are losing their grips to the point that the straps would break.

I finally got my hands on a Classic Controller, today. I purchased that, and bought some more Wii Points, then downloaded Super Mario World! Ah, I love that game!

The funny thing is, I bought the GameBoy Advance version about a month ago. I was playing it on my GameBoy Advance SP, and loving it. Then, I traded in my GameBoy Advance SP, towards the purchase of a Nintendo DS Lite. While I really love the Nintendo DS Lite, I don't like the way the buttons are set-up for playing GameBoy Advance games. It would be nice if you were allowed to change the mapping of the buttons to suit GameBoy Advance games. You can change the mapping of them for DS games, but, as far as I know, there is no way to change them for GBA games! If anyone knows how to do that, please, clue me in. Anyway, since I bought my DS Lite, I have found it nearly impossible to play Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2 on it, because I end up hitting the dash button, instead of the jump button.

So, I'm glad that Super Mario World is finally available on the Virtual Console, and I can play it the way it was meant to be played!

Oh, and on top of those purchases, I also bought Mario Kart DS! I'm loving it! I really love the online play. I've been online, playing, almost non-stop since I got it.

I reserved my Wii (that is one weird sentence) earlier this week. I'll be getting it from a shipment due in in early march.

I can't wait. I played a friends on New Year's Eve and I got hooked, which is weird because other then gameboy advance sp I havent like a video game system since the Geneseis.

Yes I forgot about that,
pity you won't get WiiConnect24 though

and if you are getting Super Mario World don't forget to pick up a Classic controller

In other news it was a great Virtual Console week for us Europeans, Super Mario World, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link and Vigilante. I downloaded SMW and Zelda II to add to my collection of VC games :P I'm still extremely jealous of you across the Atlantic with A Link to the Past though :P
