Artist Discussion Series: Madonna

I made custom discs 3 and 4 for "Celebration" to include more of Madonna's hits. And of course still then every single hit would not fit. Here's the remainder of Madonna's singles, except for "The Look of Love", "Spotlight" (which I removed because not only was it extremely long, but it was only released in Japan), "You Must Love Me", and "I Want You". The sequencing doesn't really make sense, but I had to divide the songs up like this so it would fit into two 80-minute CDs.

I'm holding off on burning the CDs so I can hopefully find these shorter edits that way I can include the songs I had to leave off.

Lovin' some of the new tracks on MDNA; "Girl Gone Wild", "Gang Bang", "I'm Addicted", "I Don't Give A" & "Love Spent" are the bomb diggity!!

"Masterpiece" isn't much of one (pun intended ) but maybe it'll grow on me in time along with some of the other ones.

I heard Madonna's "Give Me All Your Luvin'" & "Girl(s) Gone Wild" today on Fuse Madonna Takeover and they're pretty awful. I don't want to judge MDNA off of these two tracks but she sure picked a generic lead single and I thought the other song was Britney Spears.

Today was a little hectic but I started listening to the album on... YouTube. So, I'm thinking the songs might have been sped up. Not sure. But anyway, I stopped somewhere after "I Don't Give A" and just want to say overall, I'm not impressed. In fact, even though I have at least 3 songs left to hear, I would put this album with Britney Spears' last. Which I viewed as a trainwreck that a lot of people liked. So far, "Gimme All Your Lovin'" has grown on me (though I've had weeks of listening to it), "Turn Up Your Radio" was okay at best, and "Some Girls" was interesting. I didn't think much of it as I was playing it. I got a phone call, paused it, and when I hung up and turned it on again- my opinion completely changed. As for the other songs, I have very few opinions but I think "Girl Gone Wild" is horrible and "I'm Addicted" isn't far behind. "Superstar" also sucks. And the other songs just faded into nothingness. As soon as I can, I want to review the album in full. Hopefully, I'll find better copies somewhere.

I really haven't enjoyed Madonna since the Music album. I did like Hung Up but it was the ABBA hook that made the song for me (and for the guys in the clubs as far as I could tell.) I will give her new album a listen before I decide to buy it whereas before if it were Madonna's new release I would have gotten it sight unseen or hearing unheard!

But, really... 4 CD's?? This is Madonna. She deserves better than that. So, I just finished a 6 CD set that I think covers EVERYTHING significant she's ever done. And then some. I hope you're impressed by my thoroughness (I actually went so far as to get a copy of Nick Scotti's "Get Over" which you hear for about 15 seconds in Nothing but Trouble - yeah, the movie where Dan Aykroyd plays those fat giant mutant babies in diapers - because she sings the chorus) because it wasn't easy to fetch some of these tracks (I actually got so frustrated and angry at one point, I lost it and smashed a glass bowl). As for what's missing, there are 2 I cut that I didn't want to ("Little Star" - about her daughter - and "Mother and Father" - self explanatory). Tell me what you think if you're a fan:
