perhaps it is a generation thing, but I know I found the new hairspray a lot funnier than its counterpart, I enjoyed the cast, and I'm still singing the songs at this stage. The march- well I guess they felt it needed to be in there, but Im indifferent about it.Alice wrote:Since when are we supposed to "feel" for her? You're supposed to cheer her on and root for her! -the wig bomb? Musical Velma>Original Velma
Im sorry, I just don't get how it is better? The musical has great songs+great laughs+a great cast.
The Wig Bomb scene alone kicks the musical's ass. Original Velma played amazingly by Deboarh Harry > Musical Velma played lacklusterly and corpse like by Michelle Pffeifer.
The musical was lackluster at best, way too happy, the songs gave me a headache and was NOT FUNNY AT ALL. It was pathetic. The only time I laughed was during the Black parade thing which was beyond overdramatic w/Queen Latifah crying. Also I could care less about this new cast, the original will always be the only one.
It boggles my mind how anyone could like it.
The only thing I feel the two movies are on the same level about, are the actresses playing prudy, whom I felt were both great.
The musical film...just seems to flow better to me.

no doubt you will disagree
