Walt Disney Treasures Wave 6 Discussion
Sounds good...
I personally think that Wave 6 sounds pretty good. I'm particularly interested in SSv2 and Your Host Walt Disney. I probably will pass on the other two.

Hello, I am sorry to bother everyone, but I would just like to make a quick mention about the new review for the Walt Disney Treasures Silly Symphones Vol1. The review did not mention the short Practical Pig. Practical Pig is an easter egg and can be found on disc one by going to the captions and then selecting the little yellow chicken to the left. This brings the total number of shorts on Silly Symphones Vol1 to 37, or 36 if you count both versions of ugly ducklying as one short. Again sorry to bother anyone.
See my reply here.
Thanks again for pointing that out! It seems you even went to the trouble of registering just to let us know! I certainly appreciate that gesture... and hope to see you around for further discussion at the forums, too!

Life often leaves us standing bare, naked and dejected with a lost opportunity. Over the bleached bones and jumbled residues of numerous civilizations are written the pathetic words: "Too late."

One thing that I have noticed is that this forum is one of the friendlist forums I've ever had the pleasure of joining.Paka wrote:See my reply here.

Well, we are fans of a company that gave us "The Happiest Place on Earth," so the friendly factor is bound to be a little higher than average.
Seriously, though, the top dogs who run the site and forums have a great attitude, and the regulars here are typically good examples. It helps that this is more of a small, close-knit community.

Besides TV shows, I am pushing to get some of the stuff that Walt did for clients, internal presentations, charities, etc. In other words, hopefully we can get some stuff that wasn't ever aired on free TV or The Disney Channel. I have some copies of things that I have screened at conventions and they have gone over well, so hopefully we can get clearance from Legal to go with some of that stuff.
Right now I think 4 of the tv shows are ok to go and we are working to confirm the rest of the material. I did some more write-ups for it last week and am hoping to get a response this week. More as I get it.

We haven't heard anything further from Bill since March 07... I wonder if there is anything more to report yet as he was hoping to get a response by the end of that week......

I finally got around to watching the "Legendary Heroes" set and found it quite enjoyable - Disney indeed has some very worthwhile television material in the vaults. I'd like to see further volumes with more (or eventually even the rest) of Elfego Baca and the Swamp Fox. Are there other "Heroes" that should be included? Texas John Slaughter has been suggested. It has long been suspected that Zorro would be deserving of separate volumes.

Update?
Is there any news to update on the next wave of Treasures? Things have gone awfully quiet.
I take it this means that the release date will be early December as usual.

I was just about to ask the same thing - to me the "Treasures" are probably the most important releases of the year (any year). We had some "more or less official" rumours going about a few months ago, so I guess there's reason to expect that there WILL be more Treasures, and in most cases they have been out for Christmas.

I agree that the LH shows were very enjoyable. I watched them in March/April, and I finished the DVDs wanting the rest of the episodes!!!Lars Vermundsberget wrote:I finally got around to watching the "Legendary Heroes" set and found it quite enjoyable - Disney indeed has some very worthwhile television material in the vaults. I had never watched them before, although I faintly remember "Swamp Fox" being shown on The Disney Channel back in the 1980s.
"Dr. Syn, alias the Scarecrow" could be released as half of a LH volume. I believe it was shown on American television in three parts; in England, it was a theatrical movie (was it ever released in American theaters?).
If my recall of "Scarecrow" facts is accurate, the British edition is the complete version, where editing is concerned.
Tom Hering used to have an excellent Scarecrow fan site (Tom, where are you? Please bring your treasure trove back!) and some of his last writings on his site said that, according to his source, there was still some material that Disney was trying to locate some bits of the show, and they were already in the midst of the remastery process.
Back when Bill Cotter was hinting on Wave 6, I was hoping "Scarecrow" was one of this year's subjects. Maybe it'll come in 2007....

Just to refresh the memory of those who got lost in this thread.
bcotter wrote:So that cat's out of the bag on "The Hardy Boys"? Yes, that is indeed one of the titles. I taped my segment a few weeks ago on the same day as James Keeline, a major Hardy fan. I then wrote up some briefing material and questions for Leonard Maltin, who interviewed Tim Considine and Tommy Kirk the next week on the same stage where the serial had been shot. They had to shoot around material left on it from the latest "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie. I think "The Mystery of the Applegate Treasure" was a great serial and better than the book ("The Tower Treasure") it was based on. Hopefully fans will agree!
The "unlocked" title is "Your Host, Walt Disney", which will be a selection of television shows in which Walt played a major part. These would be ones that he appears throughout the show, not just for the introduction. The exact episodes are being finalized but that is the title. I'll be taping my segment for it once the episodes are set in stone.
As to the other two sets, fans of Pluto and the Silly Symphonies will be happy.
Hope that was worth waiting for!
Regards
Bill
