I was already assuming March simply because the typical window between a theatrical release and the home video release is about four months. :)

So glad it doesn't take as long as it did back in the old days.

I remember waiting aaaaaaaages for things to come out on home release !!

Like, it was a serious option of seeing a film more than once in the cinema purely for the fact it would take forever and a day for it to eventually come to DVD/ Video.

Now, it's more like "naaah, I'll leave it and get it on blu ray in 2 months"

I remember being on pins and needles back in 1990, hoping and hoping for a VHS release of The Little Mermaid! At the time it seemed very likely that we'd have to wait at least 7 years for another theatrical release, given the old theatrical pattern and the fact that their four previous DACs hadn't been released to home video yet. We didn't have internet back then of course; typically the first notice we'd get of an upcoming release was from local store flyers just a few weeks before.

I had an experience like that regarding Aladdin on VHS. I think it took about a whole year or a little after it's theatrical release to come to VHS in the 90's

I also remember Hocus Pocus being a rental only title for a very very long time.

That sounds about right. I remember seeing Aladdin in the second run theater in August 1993 with my cousin. That would have been what, 9 months after it's theatrical release?

Thinking of young stars, I would've loved to hear Ariana Grande do the pop rendition.
Maybe they got Demi because she already had ties with Disney? Kinda like how they got Christina Aguilera, who was once part of Mickey Mouse Club, to cover "Reflection" for Mulan.

I want to say it's "I Can Hear the Bells" form Hairspray or something similar. Anyone else have a strange sense of aural déjà-vu?
It does remind me of Hairspray actually. Listening to "FtFTiF" outside the movie, it makes me think of the sky--the shot of Hercules in the orange clouds at the end of "Go the Distance" comes to mind.
Great, it's good to hear I'm not the only one.

Speaking of end credits song, the version I saw had a Spanish-language version of "Let It Go" playing over them. "Libre Soy", I think that's the Spanish title.

I totally remember that at 13 years of age, one day thinking "wait a minute…Dammit, Disney doesn't release new animated features on VHS" and then in April, opening up the "Coming in May" video store flyer and seeing "MAY 18" above the cover art and running around the house crying like a wife who just found out her husband is coming home from the war.

Of course, the movie had just left my local theater at the end of March. Movies used to stay out a lot longer than they do now, so I guess technically the wait was about the same…except, nevermind, If you add in how time passes so much slower as kid compared to now, those two months did feel like a year.

Yeah. Belle has a cameo in Hunchback and her movie takes place in a completely different century.

Belle was in the same country though. I'm sure that's the only reason they thought to include her.

It was indeed close to a year, as the VHS was released October 1, 1993 (the theatrical release was November 25, 1992). :)

I turned 14 in early 1990! :) I remember jumping around and squealing whenever I saw whatever flyer it was (probably Walmart) announcing the upcoming video. I don't know when it quit playing in our local theaters, as I did get to see it in November of 1989 and getting to see it a second time was simply out of the question . . . my parents didn't want me spoiled or anything, you know. :p I saved up my babysitting money and my mom drove me to the next town over so I could buy the first copy I could get my hands on. I remember it was a huge moment; it had been a very difficult year for me and getting to own the movie was much-needed escape and distraction.

I still love Disney films, but I wish I could get as excited as I did over them as a 14-year-old. I still haven't seen Frozen, as much as I would like to, and this weekend might be my last chance before having to just wait for the Blu-ray (which I'll be buying regardless). :|

"Libre Soy" is a great title for the song.

Looking forward to getting the Frozen soundtrack really brings back memories when I would have to get the soundtracks for Pocahontas/Hunchback/Hercules/Tarzan/Mulan as soon as I'd seen the film and re-play constantly until the movie was released on home video. I haven't had that experience for a very long time.

You do know Pumbaa and Carpet are also in Hunchback...

:o

I plan on buying the Blu-ray as well, although I hope it has decent bonuses on there. I still haven't bought Wreck-It Ralph for some reason, and I liked that movie. I think it's because I'd prefer to get Blu-ray, and it's priced around $25 (even during the Cyber Monday sale) which is just too much for one movie, imo--never mind the original $40 price tag. :shake: It took me forever to get Kiki's Delivery Service at a reasonable price, and I adore that movie; it just happened to come down randomly one day on Amazon and I snatched it.

Btw, does anybody know if Sotiris is still alive? :?:

I do typically see the latest DAC at least by opening weekend (if not opening night) but this time around I've been in some pain. I haven't pushed to see the movie because I didn't think I could sit comfortably enough in the theater to enjoy it. :( I'm not spoiler-sensitive, so I've begun to listen to the full soundtrack to tide me over for now. I'm thankfully feeling better now (still in pain although it's manageable), but our budget's unusually tight for this next week so that's another concern. Sigh. I wish it had come out a month before when things hadn't been so crazy with the holidays and family emergencies! I'm also due to have my baby in exactly two weeks, so that's why this might be my last weekend to catch it in theaters.

I suppose it would be fitting of me to go into labor while watching a Disney movie though.

At 9 PM Amazon Cyber Week Deals will have the Frozen Soundtrack on sale. The price is not revealed yet and will be revealed at 9PM. I think central time.

Not to mention both movies are made by the same directors.
