Wow, chill out, man you really got some issues there, with whole collapsing wishing, damn.SpringHeelJack wrote: OR IT'S THE SORT OF THING THAT HAPPENS WHEN THE ACADEMY JUST VOTES TO SPECIFICALLY ANNOY OTHERS GOD I HATE THEM I HATE THEM ALL WHY COULDN'T THE STAGE HAVE COLLAPSED AND SENT ALL OF PIXAR PLUMMETING TO THEIR WEST COAST DOOMS
But just for the kicks, if "Toy Story 3" hadn't won, what made "The Illusionist" or "How to Train Your Dragon" better films to win?
I'm glad Toy Story 3 got best song. I'm still upset that one of the songs from Enchanted didn't win best song 3 years ago.....
Disney Channel died when they stopped airing movies with Haley mills (Parent Trap and Pollyanna) and fun adventure movies like Swiss Family Robinson. R.I.P. the REAL Disney Channel. Date of Death: When the shows became teenie bopperish.

Goodness, to all you TS3 haters -- heaven forbid something bad ever happen to you in the course of your apparently sheltered lives. I don't think you could handle it!
Just sayin'...

As much as I feel Toy Story 3 deserved the Best Animated Feature win, I'm quite annoyed that it took Best Song as opposed to Tangled.
I am sorry if I sound like a Disney fan-boy, but "I See the Light" is by all means a better song. "We Belong Together" isn't bad, but it's just not all that memorable or touching. Oh well, it least the loss of "I See the Light" isn't embarrassing as losing to a cruddy Cher ballad like at the Golden Globes. And of course, the Academy is ultimately so biased that getting that wound up about the Oscars is a bit like losing sleep over accidentally stepping in dog poop (unless, of course, you're hyper-allergic to it).
at this comment. It's worthy of WIST.

All of the awards were predictable but nothing upset me too much.
Im glad TS3 got the animation win, even though it was pretty much guaranteed. as for the best song win, as much as I love TS3 I don't feel we belong together was more deserving than I see the light. I feel like the only reason they gave it to randy was to make up for all the past nominations he didn't win. We belong together felt a bit phoned in if you ask me. its very one dimensional. Its catchy and works well in the context of the TS3 credits, but that's about it to me. I see the light was also admittedly generic in terms of lyrics, but it still deserved to win more.

Congratulations to Lee Unkrich and Randy Newman on your well-deserved wins. Was hoping it would win Best Picture, but the Academy will NEVER give Best Picture to an animated film. I knew The King's Speech would get it.
As for those of you complaining about Pixar winning year after year, you can't deny that they continue to make one terrific film after another. Except for Cars, which I just found decent, which brings me to my next point. Unless Cars 2 turns out to be a masterpiece, I think next year, Animated Feature will be going to a different studio. Depending on how they're received, I can definitely see Winnie the Pooh, Rio or Rango winning next year.
I also just noticed that this is the first time in nine years that Best Original Song went to an animated film. The last time? Also Randy Newman, this time for "If I Didn't Have You" from Monsters, Inc.

You can't? Because to me they were on a downward trend 'til TS3. Ratatouille and Cars were both bland, and Up was a mess (honestly, you have a good first 15 minutes and everyone thinks the whole movie's good). WALL E I would have to concede that there's technically nothing wrong with it, though I personally found it preachy Oscar-bait.estefan wrote:As for those of you complaining about Pixar winning year after year, you can't deny that they continue to make one terrific film after another.
The only category I wouldn't be annoyed to see them win is the shorts category--they've always made very good shorts.
And they're both from a Pixar film. Hmm...I wonder what that could mean.I also just noticed that this is the first time in nine years that Best Original Song went to an animated film. The last time? Also Randy Newman, this time for "If I Didn't Have You" from Monsters, Inc.
Honestly, Enchanted had better songs than Tangled, and it didn't even manage to win. But at least that year, the winner was actually good ("Falling Slowly"). Versus "We Belong Together," which clearly only won because it was featured in TS3. They could've played a Kei$ha song in TS3 and it would've won.

Glad that Toy Story 3 won the award for best animated film!
But not happy at all that Randy Newman won for best song. That was totally not deserved. All his Pixar-songs sound the same and are really forgettable. Plus, he can't sing. Or at least, his voice is very annoying. Why he sings his own songs, and why Pixar loves him so much, I will never understand.

Aww I love the Ke$h.
But anyway, I think We Belong Together is a good song but it sounds just like Randy's other stuff IMO. I See the Light is a pretty different sound from Alan than we're used to. I'm bummed that TS3 beat Tangled for that award, though I won't object to an additional Oscar in the Pixar shelf. (If it didn't go to Disney, I'd want it to go to Pixar!)
