Re: Frozen: Part IV
You're right, you certainly do have a right to sound like a snob. Nobody is taking that away from you. I was just answering your question because you seemed confused why some of us felt put off by your post in particular.
Also, I was half-joking with the image, even though the bad wig I posted looks closer to Elsa then your examples. That plus size model has her hair up, there is no long braid in the bag contradicting the length of the poof on top. She may not have a Joe Dirt Mullet, but that style of longer length in the back then on top is in fact called a mullet.

Re: Frozen: Part IV
You can see from those model images that the hair is just pinned upwards; with Elsa you can see clear ends to her hair on the back of her head. Like she has really short layers or something.
I have no idea why I'm rambling on about this, just something that bugs me whenever I see her artwork.

Perhaps that's exactly what it is then -- really short layers.

Re: Frozen: Part IV
I think that the reason why Disney is only doing CG films from today to 2018 is not only do they want to compete with other studios and be succesful (yet it's a big part of it), but they want to get better at the medium. Which is why the films from Tangled and on is getting better at the animation from that standpoint and Disney wants to keep going at it, to improve as each film goes on.
Well hey, this was my two cents on this whole no hand drawn features situation.

Must be then !
I still think she does look like something out of 'Secret of the Wings' though, for sure. Especially in that still.

Is there, then, a difference between "long hand and really short layers" and a "mullet"? Sincere question.atlanticaunderthesea wrote:Must be then !![]()

At any rate, a Google search for "long hair short layers" comes up with many photos. None with a braid, mind you, but with long hair that could be braided, I imagine.
EDIT TO ADD: Another Google search unfortunately shows me little similarity in facial features between the Secret of the Wings character designs and Elsa's. Pity. If there had been, I might have watched it.
Re: Frozen: Part IV
PrincessElsa, maybe I should have been more clear; she reminds me of something out of that universe to be more precise. Looks like she could fit in there very well.
I think that even though no one reminds you of Elsa in 'Secret of the Wings', it is still worth you viewing as it is a lovely film, and one of (if not the) most beautifully animated of the Tink movies.

Fair enough. I haven't seen anything from that franchise.atlanticaunderthesea wrote:PrincessElsa, maybe I should have been more clear; she reminds me of something out of that universe to be more precise. Looks like she could fit in there very well.

Still curious as to whether there's a distinction between "long hair with short layers" and a "mullet," though.
Re: Frozen: Part IV
From googling, 'long hair with short layers' looks pretty much like a female, more feminine version of a mullet to be honest.

Re: Frozen: Part IV
Mullet: short on the front/sides, long in the back. Pretty sure that applies to Elsa.
I get the feeling the designers liked giving her the short and spiky hair, but were afraid to not give her long hair for marketing the dolls to little girls. And this is the result.

Absolutely ! You've hit the nail on the headenigmawing wrote: I get the feeling the designers liked giving her the short and spiky hair, but were afraid to not give her long hair for marketing the dolls to little girls. And this is the result.
It's almost kinda funky like Periwinkles, but looks like they gave in to their Princess theme of long hair etc etc.

Re: Frozen: Part IV
Before this thread inevitably closes, I have a question about Elsa's hair.
What happened to her bangs she had during the coronation?

If the movie takes place over a short period of time, shouldn't the front of her hair in her Snow Queen braid be spiked?
Oh, and is Hans touching Anna in the Dutch poster? Watch out Kristoff, Hans is playing it smooth.

Re: Frozen: Part IV
you guys who complain about us 2d fans whining all the time need to put yourselves in our shoes. You guys who prefer cgi or have no preference for either cgi or 2d, thats great cuz you get the choice of choosing films from 5- 6 studios who make 2-3 cgi films, ever year!
the 2d fans on the other hand...get nothing. Nada. Oh I know theres 2d on television yes, but its all sophmoric adult comedy or aimed at toddlers/kids & its all that same faux-retro limited style that many of us dont like. No classical full lenghth animation anywhere. Yes foreign countries still make 2d films as well but its not easy having access to them in the states. You have to try watchng them undubbed/unsubtitled on youtube(ever try watching a complete film on youtube? not fun) try to figure out how to purchase a (usually expensive)blu-ray disc of it overseas(if its even on bluray b/c you cant play dvds on US machines) or go the illegal route.
so just next time think about that when you see one of us lamenting about 2d. We need to have our voices heard, it needs to be known that there are a group of people who are saddenend by the death of this artform in the US.
The studios probably dont care b/c they see all the money raking in & figure nobody cares about 2d anymore. Well some of us do care & its not fair that we're expected to shut up about it.
also if its that bothersome you could always put the 2d defenders on ignore list, or skip our posts.
Just dont tell us we need to be quite & pretend we like something that we dont.

I do lament that 2D is not even around in the US anymore these days but in the future it will return in one way or another.unprincess wrote:you guys who complain about us 2d fans whining all the time need to put yourselves in our shoes. I feel optimistic about those kind of things.

So is it safe to assume this new poster will probably be the widely used theatrical poster? As in, the Frozen version of this:http://www.scannain.com/media/tangled_poster3.jpg

Re: Frozen: Part IV
I think it sucks that the wolves that'll appear in this are the typical "evil" wolves, already seen in Beauty and the Beast. I guess I wanted something new, like maybe Elsa adopting a pack and them being her guard of sorts, but actually being nice and heroic, and help the main leads in the climax...I dunno, just something new to avoid cliches.
But oh well I can't comment on anything wrong about this film unless I want to be devoured by fanboys!
Dunno if this is new, but I found this:
