one thing I couldn't hear nor get was why Elsa kick the duke off the land at end of film? He wasn't doing anything malicious. Just afriad of her powers and doing what any logical scared people would react.
What was said when that man read the paper to duke?

Super Aurora: That apparently his city was forbidden to trade for now on with Arendelle.
I thought the character of the Duke was a waste. Could have been nice had he been giving a slight redemption and aided the sisters in the climax, as to show who was the real villain/Hans, but eh, a missed opportunity.

He was mainly included tothrow suspicion off HansI guess. I agree he was pretty much useless but had a couple funny moments.
How long do we have continue using spoilers bars anymore. The movie is out and they're getting to be a pain in the ass

Wow, judging by most of the posts on this thread, I had no idea so many people on this forum hated Tangled. I'm actually surprised.
Re: Frozen: Part V
When the weekend's numbers come in tomorrow it's gonna be HUGE news... "Frozen" is doing crazy business for Disney. I can't believe it. It's just like a second Disney renaissance started in 2009 and it has only gotten better and better. Who would have thought Disney could ever outdo Pixar (I know it's a little too early to assume, but damn, last year WIR was superior to Brave and now Frozen seems to repeat its success).

Well I don't see the point in opening this thread anymore if you don't want to be spoiled. There is no "news" anymore. Any new stuff is just spoilers. I think most are probably spoiled anyway but whatevertomakpo wrote:The movie is not out yet in some countries. I already spoiled myself the movie, but some people didn't

A lot of it is pushing back against all the people who said it was one of the best ever, restored their faith in Disney animation, etc. I definitely don't hate it, in fact I loved it overall, but it definitely has its flaws and is overrated in the grand scheme of things. And Rapunzel is Disney's latest cash cow - she's EVERYWHERE, so that gets a little annoying when other characters are so ignored. I wonder if Anna and Elsa will take her down a pegWow, judging by most of the posts on this thread, I had no idea so many people on this forum hated Tangled. I'm actually surprised.

Someone on Twitter complained that Kristoff didn't get a song and guess what Jennifer Lee said?

Deleted song? Or are they going to go Peter Jackson on us and release an extended edition? Most likely the former. Although...It would be kind of cool to see a Disney animated feature getting that kind of treatment.taei wrote:Guys!!!

Well, according to this, there will be two cuts of the film on the upcoming 3D Blu-ray release (curiously, there doesn't seem to be two cuts for the regular BD release).Tristy wrote:Deleted song? Re: Frozen: Part V
Has anyone noticed; or attention been brought to the fact, that there were a few scenes shown in the trailer, that were not shown in the actual film itself? For instance
1.) there is a scenario(series of scenes) where Kristoff says, "First! We have to survive this blizzard" to which Anna replies, "This is no blizzard, it's my sister"
then
2.) there is a scene, where Elsa is standing on what appears to be a mountain top/bluff, and unleashes her powers from both her hands, while wearing her "Ice Queen" dress
is it possible, there will be an extended version for dvd release?

Those were both from the test footage. I don't think they'll be in the extended release, if there is one..justcuttinhair wrote:Has anyone noticed; or attention been brought to the fact, that there were a few scenes shown in the trailer, that were not shown in the actual film itself? For instance

God I wish there is one.. There are scenes that were clearly cut out..
1) The introduction between Anna and Kristoff.
2) Olaf gives Marshmallow a name
3) Kirstoff punching Hans, which is clear when hans is getting up with his hands on his holding his chin.

I think what didn't really work for me was Hans being evil. I liked the twist, but I felt it wasn't properly developed. Like once he's revealed he starts the typical monloguing to the hero while smirking evily and so. I was hoping for him to put on a moustache and start twirling it.

Agreed. It was completely ridiculous, an entire tonal shift.thedisneyspirit wrote:I think what didn't really work for me was Hans being evil. After a whole film of characters acting in a more naturalistic way, to suddenly have a character performing in such a broad manner felt like an imported scene from a different movie with a different acting style.
Also, whatever one thinks of Beyond the Trailer, in her spoiler review she has some cutting remarks as to why that scene doesn't even pass the common-sense test.

Re: Frozen: Part V
@Mooky: I haven't seen that picture before; it's very pretty.
I didn't comment on it, but I really liked the father's design, and the way they died at the beginning for some reason reminded me of Tarzan, randomly. The scene that follows probably got the most tears from me in the film, when it flips from Anna's side of the door to Elsa's, and the room is so frozen that even the snow doesn't fall--just like at the end, when she thinks Anna is dead. This scene is possibly the reason why I didn't mind Anna as much as I thought I would; she's suffered as much as Elsa has throughout the movie, not even knowing why.

Re: Frozen: Part V
Because he told his men to kill the queen without bothering to consult the person in charge (Hans)? Even if Elsa didn't know this, she still knew those men were from Weselton, and if i was queen i'd try to stop doing business with someone who tried to kill me (rather than try to come up with a solution) when things got tough too.Super Aurora wrote:one thing I couldn't hear nor get was why Elsa kick the duke off the land at end of film? But yeah, the duke was just told that Aredenelle would no longer be trading with "Weaseltown"
And Divinity, I totally agree. That scene made me like Anna more than i thought i would, when i thought the main event would be Elsa for me. It is also my favorite sequence by far, and i was definitely crying the second time i saw it.

Re: Frozen: Part V
So, I just got back from the theater. I felt I'd add to the discussion and voice my thoughts. First off, I want to see the film again. I was NOT in a good mood during the first 30 minutes of the film... I went with my family, including my 12 year old brother. He sat next to me. I have to say, that my 8 year old brother acted more maturely! The 12 year old was sprawled out in his seat and the two next to him HORIZONTALLY, swinging his leg back and forth and LEANING over to the cup holder to drink with his mouth, causing loud noises every time instead of picking up his cup like a normal human being... The people in front of him kept turning around and looking. It was an embarrassment. Plus, the constant swinging of his leg caused the blue stair safety lights (we were in the top-most row of the theater) to appear to be 'flashing' (his leg blocking it out every few seconds) so, that's ALL I could see out of the corner of my eye the entire time. I leaned over several times, saying, "Will you sit up and ACT RIGHT?" "Fuck you!" was the response I got. I was so furious. I just got up and sat completely AWAY from the rest of my family, because they weren't going to do anything about his behavior.
ANYWAY, I missed out on nearly ALL of the big musical scenes because I was dealing with that shit. (I got up right when Let It Go began.) I really need to see it all again, but, I felt the film was all right. Nothing mind-blowing or game-changing. The music was the stand-out, however, it wasn't the second coming of Howard Ashman like all the reviews have tried to make it out to be. (Man, the notices this time out just irk the shit out of me... It's as though Disney hasn't made a film since the Lion King... It seems that EVERY FEW YEARS we get this "the best since The Lion King" bullshit.) I do want to get the soundtrack. The lyrics...all but escape me. I can remember hardly any of them. But the melodies (for the most part) stuck with me. I liked Olaf a lot more than I thought I would. The twist was stupid. And poorly handled. Does every film with John Lasseter attached to it have to pull a surprise villain out of nowhere? Seriously, how many times have PIXAR and Disney pulled this? Toy Story 2, Monsters Inc., Toy Story 3, Cars 2, Wreck-It Ralph, now Frozen!
If I had to stack Frozen against the recent Disney canon films... Well, to me, The Princess and the Frog had the best characters, Wreck-It Ralph had the best story, Frozen had the best music. I'm more about characters, so, I think Princess and the Frog still holds the top spot. Ralph is still probably my favorite CG Disney flick, Frozen comes next, then Tangled. But, again, I need to see it again when I'm in a better emotional place.
Also: poor Winnie the Pooh. Nobody brings that one up in these comparison discussions!

Maybe the longer version of his song to Sven that's included on the Deluxe Soundtrack? It's called "Reindeer(s) Remix (Outtake)" and noted by Chris Beck that towards the end of production they realized they hadn't written anything for Johnathan Groff.taei wrote:Guys!!!
