Re: Frozen: Part IV
Yay for better quality trailer, especially hearing the trailer guy in the beginning. Wait... Disney has not used that guy, but there was another from the 90's.
Awesome artwork of Frozen which will certainly be on the Art of Frozen book.

2 THINGS:PrincessElsa wrote:I'm obviously a fan of this movie and will be seeing it, probably opening night, if I can.
But I think my biggest problem with it, and that trailer just highlights these portions, is that I don't find the other leads appealing, apart from Elsa and formerly Hans, before learning of his heel turn, which I think lacks the motivation and backstory to make it interesting.
It's all there in the log line: "Fearless optimist Anna teams up with..."
Well, geez, if she's a "fearless optimist," then why am I supposed to be invested in her plight? She's facing wolves? Oh, no problem. She's "fearless," so she just bats them away with a guitar. She's facing Marshmallow? Again, no problem. She's "fearless," so she just berates him.
1. We really don't know Hans' backstory yet. Hopefully, they'll make it clear in the movie because come to think of it, WHY does he want to be the ruler? Because of his 12 brothers and if his parents ignore him? His motivation is awesome, but backstory? Hopefully, they will clear it up.

That's the point of her character. According to the directors, you're supposed to love her, but disagree with things that she does in the movie. First, what are you supposed to do when wolves attack you? Scream ad cry. And, Marshmallow is a bully. Of course, she berates him. And yes, she's fearless.

Re: Frozen: Part IV
You shorted me on the quote there. As I said,
In Die Hard, the Bruce Willis character is sympathetic precisely because whenever he's about to do something dangerous, the fear in his eyes is obvious. He thinks he's about to die, but he does it anyway. Make him "fearless" and the threat all but vanishes, and with it a good deal of sympathy for the character.
A courageous character and a fearless character are not the same thing. A courageous character is compelling because they have fear but somehow overcome it. A fearless character has, by definition, little fear to overcome, which sucks tension out of their scenes.
As for Hans, if his motivation is just lust for power, that's not "awesome" but cliche. They could have come up with something better than that. Hopefully, they did.
When Belle fights wolves, she's terrified, but she gamely tries her best at fending them off with a stick. Her perfectly reasonable fear heightens the tension of the moment. She's afraid, so you're afraid for her and you feel the danger she's in. If Belle were "fearless" and just batted away wolves with a stick, that scene would lose its power. If she doesn't feel the menace, the threat, then I don't feel the threat to her as a viewer either.

Is that a real scene in the movie or just concept art?

I think the singing dolls are available in Toys R Us, so if any of you has one near and could record at least what Anna sings, the whole Frozen fandom would be grateful.
As for the picture, I think it's an unfinished still from the movie, like the one with Elsa's coronation.

I presume it's a still from the movie, just because it looks polished.Musical Master wrote:Is that a real scene in the movie or just concept art?

True enough. The singing dolls are supposed to be quite well done, according to someone who listened to one:

People have posted many images of their purchases of the Disney dolls. I'm surprised that no one has, as of yet, posted images/audio of these singing dolls, which I take it are from Mattel. So, adding onto all of the Elsa that is now on my blog and your dashes I’m going to tell you guys something. I was at Toys R’ Us today and they had a few new Frozen things I haven’t seen before and they had talking Frozen toys which was Anna, Elsa, Sven, and Olaf. Oh my goodness Elsa’s voice. You guys are going to love it.

I know, I thought we would get it the first day. Does it really take THAT long for recording a doll?PrincessElsa wrote:People have posted many images of their purchases of the Disney dolls. I like that in the picture that Elsa's dress sparkles like diamonds, it's those details that really count when it comes to design.

Re: Frozen: Part IV
That's clearly a still from the film and it looks amazing!
Re: Frozen: Part IV
We don't know, maybe Anna actually is terrified in that scene, but in the part we see in the trailer she's already "fearless". I kind of share your idea. The fact that Belle was terrified made the scene a lot more tense and serious. If the character is "fearless" it's just an ordinary funny action scene. But I'm sure the movie will have a lot of feelings, and not only regarding Elsa. And if you don't really like the other characters, remember every one of them relates to Elsa someway. Specially Anna.PrincessElsa wrote:You shorted me on the quote there. As I said,

Re: Frozen: Part IV
I seriously love the concept art of Elsa in her bedroom! Hopefully they kept that scene in the film!
Re: Frozen: Part IV
I am guessing that's the scene where Elsa reacts to her parents death which is present in the junior novelization and should be a significant enough event not to be glossed over in the film itself.
Re: Frozen: Part IV
Don't now if these pics have been posted before, but this concept art makes me think of Cinderella

Absolutely! It's a very obvious nod.
Re: Frozen: Part IV
Very much paying homage to Cinderella ! In a lovely way. Looks like it could be part of a dream sequence?
