What Frozen really needs is an animated series in the vein of the Legend Of Tarzan or Aladdin where elements that were cast out from production or the original book are refused. Not to mention they can use stuff from Norse mythology to put into the mix and we can expand more on the trolls as well.
I agree a TV series would be really cool. Especially if they infuse Norse mythology and culture.

Ok, so we have a slight confirmation and it sounds like nothing is instant. Story treatments are the only thing in the works. No solid script yet. Buck and Lee are not in contract which is understandable, but are fans willing to see a Frozen sequel without these two? What if a new director had a new approach? Most likely cast and music team remains and it can't be a stinker. But what if the tone of the sequel is different than the first one. For all we know it can be great sequel, yet I am skeptical about appeal. This kinds happened with The Hobbit which had a different tone than the LOTR series.

How about you guys? Would it bother you if the sequel had a completely different tone or feel to it?

Not even just darker. I can't help thinking if it had a more solid script than the original it would get flack. IDK. I think the original movie's focus on Anna is what established the younger audience's approval. She has a character arc that is understandable for younger kids. Now that she has matured, there is no character arc appealing to childlike intellect. BUT the sequel could be like Toy Story 2 where the tables are turned. Maybe Elsa could be the naive one, yet the only thing she could be naive about is political conflict and war. (By the looks of it, her kingdom is pretty darn perfect.)

It sounds like the journalist may had edited Idina's comments to make it sound like she confirmed it:

Whatever the case, now that a Toy Story 4 is confirmed to be coming, it makes me think that a Frozen sequel is pretty much inevitable.

I know that a lot of people think that since WDAS has not really had sequels in its long history, their films are safe from sequelitis, but I really don't think that's the case, especially considering Pixar's recent upsurge in sequels. And a billion dollar box office, multi-million home video sales, a multi-platinum album, and unprecedented merchandise sales will be hard for Disney to ignore.

Idina says,
"I didn't confirm anything... it teaches me not to put my foot in my mouth!"
That seems like an unclear response. Why can't she just say, "I made a mistake. I know nothing of an official confirmation for a sequel" or "There is no sequel." She makes it seem like she's in trouble for telling the press about the Frozen sequel being in works. But if Idina and press easliy made shit up based on no legit information from production notes or sequel, they should easily admit it's bullshit. This interview makes it seem like she's in trouble for making a mistake.

Josh Gad comments on the possibility of a sequel.
As for when we might see Olaf again in another feature, Gad was less forthcoming than Idina Menzel, but he thinks it’s something that will happen eventually. “I don’t have a comment [on 'Frozen 2'], but what I will say is that the idea of this story continuing and the desire to see what else these characters have in store is something I think is constantly discussed in the ranks,” he said. “I think that when the creative team has an idea that’s worthy of following up ‘Frozen,’ I think that’s when they will. It may be a long time from now. It may be in a couple years. I actually really don’t know.”

Kristen Bell talks about the sequel. OK, this I believe. That a sequel is been worked on but hasn't been green-lighted yet.
“They haven’t green-lighted it yet,” she reveals. “There is so much speculation, mostly because people have wanted it so bad. They’ve read into quotes or otherwise. They definitely have not green-lit it. I would really hope they do, as all of our cast members would love to be involved. We’re twiddling our thumbs and trying to nudge them in the right direction.”

There we go, guys. Lee has confirmed that there WON'T be a Frozen 2.
But while Lee and Buck are thrilled with the finished product -- and Lee is currently writing the book for the forthcoming "Frozen" Broadway musical -- don't expect "Frozen Fever" to become "Frozen 2" any time soon.

"It was really nice to do a short and just get back with these characters who we love without the pressure of having to do a huge sequel," Buck said. "We're going to take a little bit of a break from the 'Frozen' stuff before diving into anything else."

What Lee said I think is really positive; don't just shove it out there because you can, needs to be worth something. I am surprised that Frozen Fever was such a struggle to write though ? Wasn't expecting that. And I'm ever so glad it was made without Olaf being the central character, Elsa needed her moment. Or, realistically, to become more of the iconic character we perceive her to be as we don't actually get to see as much as we should do of her in Frozen. If that makes sense ?

It could be like what has recently come to light about Tangled II, "The Frozen Heart was melted, sisters together once more - story done." Little shorts are one thing, but engineering a whole new story might be hard ? Further development can be made though with the book of the musical which is awesome though for sure.

Well....surprise!
It’s of-f-f-f-f-icial: “Frozen 2” is in development at Walt Disney Animation Studios with directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee and producer Peter Del Vecho, the Oscar®-winning filmmaking team behind “Frozen.” The news was announced at Disney’s Annual Meeting of Shareholders this morning by Bob Iger, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company; John Lasseter, Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios; and actor Josh Gad, who provides the voice of Olaf from “Frozen.” A release date and production details are on ice for now.

Well, well, well. Would you look at that? After all that vehement denial, this is really embarrassing for Disney. Even as we speak there are interviews of Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee coming out denying that there is a sequel planned.

I listened to the announcement on the Shareholders livefeed and (well, first I squealed in delight) had to laugh at all that silly denial! I'm sure they are enjoying the shock.
