More pictures. Still not convinced that this is a good idea.

1) Those pictures were already linked to in this thread. Thank you though.
2) This looks like it's turning out to be one of the greatest ideas ever!!! Originally I didn't think Disney should be the studio to do this, but so far everything's looking great!

Ahh! I thought I had successfully skimmed through all the links, but PrincePhillipFan flew in under my radar.Disney Duster wrote:1) Those pictures were already linked to in this thread. Thank you though.

I still stand by what I said, though. I wouldn't trust Rob Marshall with my Starbucks Salted Caramel Mocha. (Anyone had one yet? They're great. Marshall would TOTES sneak a taste...)

Yeah and then he ripped off Chicago with Nine! Which proved he never was that creative to begin with... Or else he was creative for, like, 2 minutes and then ran out of ideas.Disney Duster wrote:But he made Chicago. Chicago!

I liked Nine but it's true it wasn't very good like Chicago was. I still have hope though.

Intriguing.
I still dislike when a trailer doesn't sell a musical as a musical, but still, quite intriguing.

How was Nine a ripoff of Chicago?pinkrenata wrote:Yeah and then he ripped off Chicago with Nine! Which proved he never was that creative to begin with... Or else he was creative for, like, 2 minutes and then ran out of ideas.Disney Duster wrote:But he made Chicago. Chicago!
Nine is a more difficult, less accessible piece than Chicago. (And some projects are best left without being put through multiple iterations and adaptations--a musical film based on a stage production based on a 40-year old avant-garde Italian cinematic classic might be a bridge too far.)
Marshall's Memoirs of a Geisha was pretty brilliant (another adaptation), and his list of additional credits (particularly in theatre) and award nominations make it pretty clear the man is not a hack.
Yeah, that handrail on the steps where the slipper sits never would have tipped anyone off.disneyprincess11 wrote:

Wha-wha-whaaat? Just because it's one of the best-known, most-acclaimed works by a nobody like Stephen Sondheim?Escapay wrote: I still dislike when a trailer doesn't sell a musical as a musical...

I was referring to the last time Hollywood adapted Sondheim for the silver screen. This fan trailer reminded me of it.Fflewduur wrote:Wha-wha-whaaat? Well, there's no accounting for fan behavior. (There is at least a portion of a musical selection included.)Escapay wrote: I was referring to the last time Hollywood adapted Sondheim for the silver screen. This fan trailer reminded me of it.

Which reminds me how much better that Sweeney was than I expected. I should watch that again before long.

I'm still scratching my head around the idea of Disney producing a musical that's message is so anti-Disney in the first place. I just don't understand why THEY purchased the film rights to THIS show.

Re: Into the Woods (Disney-film)
Ridiculous
I knew Rapunzel would live but cutting the Prince/Baker's Wife stuff is a MAJOR and crucial plot point. Another company definitely should have produced this. Disney seems to think it's nothing more than a bunch of fairytale characters singing in the woods when there's a complex and layered story there
