What Movie Did You Just Watch? - Shh! It's Starting!

Up in the air a bittersweet comedy-drama with George Cloony as Ryan Bingham, who is 'up in the air' most of the time because he flies from state to state for his job to sack employees because their bosses are to coward to do it themselves. Ryan is very contended with this life until he gets an affair with a fellow 'frequent flyer' and is confronted with the marriage of his younger sister: then he is beginning to get second thoughts. Meanwhile he has to take along a new young employee to teach her the trade. With clever dialogues and without a predictable happy end. 9/10

Silk- It was in my Netflix queue, but then I saw it at the library and checked it out. I'm glad I watched it for free- I was disappointed. It was kind of boring in parts. The cinematography was excellent, though- a really beautiful film. I ended up fast-forwarding through some dialogue-less parts. B-

Howl's Moving Castle - This is one of my favorite Miyazaki films. True, it's not as good as Spritied Away, but it's certainly up there. And it was due for another viewing, so I'm glad I rewatched it. 8/10

My Neighbor Totoro - This is a nice and fun film. It has a lot of heart and was great to watch (I hadn't seen this one in awhile as well). 7/10

Burn After Reading - This film had me really confused. I didn't really see what random Linda had to do with crazy Ozzy. Sure, she wanted money but what does that have to do her wanting plastic surgery??? I didn't really get the point of that, or much of everything. The acting was good, but it seemed really pointless. Plus, I don't understand the title. Maybe I'm dumb and just don't get it, but you don't normally burn CDs once your finished with it. 5/10

Anger Management-I first saw this six years ago, and it's certainly better now. It's smart, optimistic, and funny. Jack Nicholson was brilliant of course, and the movie in general is quite good.

Disagreed. If you ever want to see Jack Nicholson slumming, check out Anger Management. God, everyone knows Adam Sandler loves to yell and scream- it's not one of his better qualities. Why not make a movie where he's easygoing and has to be goated into yelling and screaming by someone playing even more of a jerk than he is.

The Object of My Affection - I've never seen this, surprisingly. Jennifer Anistan played her typical role, albeit it was a little deeper than usual. I actually found her character, Nina, annoying a lot of the time. Paul Rudd's character however, George, was my favorite character. The side characters, aside from Allison Janney's, were annoying as well, and I thought the movie was overrated as a whole. The beginning was good, and I absolutely LOVED the ending though, so that made up for the whole uneasy middle.

Janney was supposed to be annoying. Worse yet is- they made her right about George and Nina's relationship. She's supposed to be stupid and pretentious (clearly, she annoyed George when she said, "We'll have RuPaul over" for a get-together with him and Joely). You have to wonder, considering that, where the movie's head is at.

Inglorious Bastards (2009) 7.5 - disappointing. This is a good movie, no question, but just disappointing as far as Tarantino films go (especially considering all the hype this one has been getting). This is very much a Tarantino film and features all his trademarks: great dialog, aquired sense of humor and drawn out goofy conversations. I also must add that this is a movie made by a film buff for film buffs (something I very much appreciated). It starts off like a Sergio Leone western (music and all) and quickly moves in a different direction. I feel the main problem here is Tarantino was trying too hard to make this film poetic, and while some scenes are, it overall seemed to slow down the film. Part of the problem is only a few of the characters are actually developed and for the most part, the Bastards are not (making them not easily identifiable), and they take backseat to the other characters in this film. Christoph Waltz as Hans Landa was outstanding (sophisticated evil is the only way to describe him). The ending though, I have mixed feelings about. In one way, the whole alternate universe thing bothers me but on the other hand, the who sequence was masterfully done. Anyway, this movie was entertaining but not one of Tarantino's best. I still recommend it.

Well, I haven't seen many Nicholson movies. I know the personality is his trademark kinda thing.
As for Sandler, maybe. I like the movie, probably because I don't see a lot of their films.

Wow.

One of the best films I've seen in a long, long, long, very long time. I can't find the words to just begin to describe how beautiful this movie is. It's truly a work of art. I've been sitting on the edge of my seat numerous times, sometimes even yelling at the screen. Yes, that's how involving it is. It truly sucks you in the very first minute and then it won't let you go for almost two hours. Outstanding effects, excellent choreography and especially a very strong and convincing leading character (Li Gong) make this film a treat.

Avatar - SPOILERS Overrated. Disappointing. Sucky. I have, surprisingly, never seen Titanic, so I can't 'compare' or anything, but I thought this was definitely a let-down. The only character I liked, Trudy (played by the wonderful Michelle Rodreigez) died. WTF. The special effects were amazing, but the script wasn't.

I am currently finishing up my Harry Potter marathon from last night. I'm halfway through the fourth (Goblet Of Fire). I absolutely love this series. I enjoyed the books more so then the movies, but these movies are some of my favourites.

Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure - You know, I really, really, really enjoy the Disney Fairies series, and this one was definitely an improvement over the first, which was still fabulous. The only thing that disappointed me about this one is that, aside from Terrence, none of Tinker Bell's friends do much of anything. I love Sil, Dess, Ro, and Fawn! And even Vidia! But none of them have very many lines (In fact, Vidia has none!) and I think that they all should have had more screentime. I guess it wouldn't have worked too well, it would have weighted down the plot. But it would have been cool. Oh well, at least they get some time to shine a little bit on the DVD's bloopers....

No Country For Old Men - I thought it was pretty good and some of the performances were great (Especially Javier Bardem's character), but there were a few parts that were confusing and sluggish.

Had a movie night with the girls last night...Both movies are rated R.
Repo:The Genetic Opera...Saw this before and own it. Kinda a mix of Rocky Horror, Saw and Sweeney Todd. A musical horror/comedy/drama. Great cast, its not gonna win any awards mind you, but I do so enjoy that movie.

Teeth Boys beware, research this one at your own risk. A comedy/horror. Not sure how much comedy they meant for this movie to have, but it certainly makes me laugh.

Luckily, most of UD's male members (pun not intended) have nothing to worry about . Great movie though, nice balance between horror and dark comedy. VD's final attack is gruesome in particular, but her SOB step-brother got exactly what he deserved.

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back – title characters are fortunately part of a much bigger movie universe where intertwining storylines and characters are nothing unusual. Otherwise, I'm not sure they would have been able to carry this movie by themselves alone without all those cameos. Other than that, it's a funny, irreverent movie. I still much prefer "Chasing Amy" and "Dogma" though.

How To Deal – you see one "teen angst" movie and you've seen them all. The cast was decent, put the story was beyond tired. Few chuckles here and there.

3.10 to Yuma (1957)

Excellent classic Western. It's such a small, simple story, and it's told in 90 minutes, but it's the way it's told that is so spectacular. I've rarely seen so much character development in a 1950's Hollywood film. I also very much liked the performances of the two main characters. Very subtle, especially for that time.

Aww...I love this movie! It's more than a "teen angst" movie, IMO- she gets less angsty and softens up as time goes on!

I just watched Pretty Woman- It was the last movie that I hadn't seen that I really wanted to see, and I really liked it. The only thing I knew about it was the basic plot (as in what Julia's character's profession was, and that Richard Gere and her liked each other), and so I didn't know what would happen. It wasn't really too predictable. A, I think.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009)- 8/10
A very clever and funny film expanding greatly upon the children's book. I had no idea Police Officer Earl was Mr. T! The only downside is Baby Brent. He kind of slows down the plot, and won't that chicken soon rot? He'll be covered in mold... I really loved the bright and colorful imagery. Of course, it could never come close to Up or 99% of the Pixar films in that matter, but it is a great movie.
