1. Jordin ~ To begin with, I didn't like Jordin. But when she sung that Diana Ross song, I fell in love with her voice. All I want is to hear more from her.
2. Chris Richardson ~ Definitely my favorite of the guys (and he also reminds me of someone I know).
3. Blake
4. Lakisha
5. Melinda ~ Though she seems as if she might truly be that nice, her personality comes off as somewhat fake to me.
6. Chris Sligh ~ Chris Sligh has a good voice, but, as Simon pointed out, it always feels like he's trying to win the audience's favor when he should just care about how well his performance is.
7. Haley
8. Sanjaya ~ Haley and Sanjaya really do seem like they have good voices (I really looked forward to Sanjaya after his original audition), but both have made severely disappointing performances. Sanjaya always seems as if he's afraid of the audience or something. And last week's performance was probably his best yet (and ignoring the fact that he should've already been gone a couple of weeks ago, I didn't think he deserved to leave last week).
9. Phil ~ Decent, but he kind of bores me. I felt he deserved the cut last week.
10. Gina ~ As far as voice is concerned, this girl irks me for some reason. But she seems like a genuinely nice person.
I put them in order of who I would buy a CD buy if they all put one out.

Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ ~ "The Fate of Ophelia"
Taylor Swift ~ "Eldest Daughter"
Taylor Swift ~ "CANCELLED!"

Second of all, why is your friend so bored that he would sit with his program analyzing everyone's pitch on American Idol? If he could hear him go flat, who needs a program to tell you it is so? And I don't know what program he is using, but unless he is able to remove all background music and ambiant noise, his program should be telling him that every performer is off pitch at some point because of all of the sound fused together. I'm not an expert on these types of programs, but I do know that those programs work best when listening to just one part of audio, not 25 instruments, a singer, and crowd cheers. So your friend's program does nothing but proove that he has way too much free time on his hands.
And a third point, thanks to the powers of Youtube, I reviewed a few of his performances. I was wrong. I think that he's such a good performer with a great vocal quality that I sometimes get lost and don't pay too much attention to the pitch, but I closed my eyes and he goes flat at least once in almost every song. But as AwallaceUNC pointed out, going flat and sharp aren't that bad of a thing in the recording industry. A.)They can fix it in the studio. B.)It is something anybody can overcome (provided they aren't tone deaf). C.) Some artists even intentionally go flat if it fits the song.
As Simon would say, "A bit rude." If you re-read my post, everything I said started with "I think." I have been singing in choirs and in solo competitions for almost 8 years now, and I've even been told I have perfect pitch by one instructor, even though I know that's not true because I do have a tendancy to go flat on some high tenor notes. Anyways, I don't recall the judges ever saying anything about it either, and Randy is always the first to say "A bit pitchy." And if you don't think your post was rude, you should look at your wording. Paragraphs that start with snooty phrases like "Is that so?" automatically make the reader feel attacked.IS that so? My friend has a program that can analyze pitches, and he tells me Blake's pitches are way off... I also think he has the worst intonation of the bunch (And I'm not usually wrong when it comes to these things)

"American Idol" is 67 minutes long tomorrow night not 70 as previously posted. If you have your TiVO or DVR set up they will automatically record each show to its full length. It's the cavepeople that still have VCR's that have to do the special programming. Glad I am not one of those.
"American Idol" is scheduled 8:00 - 9:07 Eastern with "House" following at 9:07 pm Eastern.

Ouch. Guess I'm a caveman then. Don't feel like paying Dish Network to upgrade to a DVR yet. Waiting on my HDTV purchase this summer before I upgrade, then I'm probably going to move to an HD-DVR. Still going to have to pay $150 to do that and sign a 18 month commitment. The benefits of satellite TV. At least the channel selection and HD packages are a lot better than our local cable company.dvdjunkie wrote:It's the cavepeople that still have VCR's that have to do the special programming. Anyway a VCR is so easy a caveman can do it. Its not that bad.

Variety reports that Idol's results show will be expanding (again) to one hour beginning April 11th. Great..... more filler.....

Myself, I have been with Cox Communications, and my two-channel HD-DVR comes with my Digital Cable system at no extra charge. It is the only way to go, a DVR that is, as far as recording. It doesn't have monthly fees like TiVO or your Dish DVR will have. Look into it, before you invest. A TiVo at least offers a one-time lifetime subscription fee for its users.
Once you get a DVR, you will never use a VCR again. Once you set it to record a show, you will never have to worry about missing a show again. DVR's are the new "toy" and they can spoil a person rotten.
And they are so easy to use, even a caveman can do it!!!

There's the problem. A victim of the overpaying of a satellite company. I am not sure if that is good or bad.Ouch. Guess I'm a caveman then. QueenRahel - have you looked into any of your control panels? Mine has a setting for each show that allows you to set recording to begin and/or end at a certain time before/after the start/end of a show.

I think the voting method should be changed similar to how it's done in "You're the One that I Want". Correct me if I'm wrong (I haven't watched the show, someone told me about the voting), but viewers can vote around the beginning of the show, and the judges vote for the finalists... something like that. I could be wrong. I wish the show would see what's happening; we can't have a Howard Stern mess each season.

You can't start calling until the end of the show and the lines only stay open for 2 hours. The judges have no say in who stays or goes. They just give professional input. It's all up to America's votes. I've never seen "Grease- You're The One That I Want," but I think that is how that show votes, too. Spoiler warnings...
Sanjaya's hair was crazy tonight, but I thought it was funny. After the first line or so, his vocal was great - probably his best so far. Randy and Paula finally gave him some fair, constructive criticism (and were positive for the second week in a row) -- he can sing, he just needs to bring it. He's able to pull off the "rock star" vibe in every regard except being loud. Every week, I feel like he's almost there, but not quite. So much potential and a lot of talent, though, and I'm really rooting for him.
Lakisha, Melinda, and (surprisingly) Phil were the best of the night. Gina and Chris R were pretty good too. I was so glad someone did "Don't Speak" and Chris was the right choice, though he definitely ran all over the bridge.
By far the worst was Chris Sligh - an absolute trainwreck. He's been off for a while now and his time has come. Haley wasn't far behind him. One of them really should leave tomorrow night.
My votes went to Sanjaya, Lakisha, and Chris Richardson (because he apparently needs them) tonight.

Tonight was cool. A lot of good performances, and we got to look at Gwen Stefani!
My votes went to Phil (I really like him), Melinda, and Blake. Sanjaya, Haley, or either of the Chris' needs to be cut tomorrow. I thought Jordin was a bit all over the place, but she tried really hard, and it showed. She's a cutie, too.
Gina's boots were uhh-mazing.

I was so excited to see that Gwen was going to be coaching the contestants tonight! She rocks!
Tonight's best were Melinda, Blake, Gina, and Phil. I was excited to see Melinda get a little more jumpy in her performance; she's fantastic. Blake just rocks, plain and simple. Gina's performance was definitely the best she's done so far. Phil's vocals were great. He makes belting look easy! He needs to grow some hair though. I swear, he looks like a cancer patient!
Great show tonight, folks!

Aaron, you are letting that little freak convince you he has talent, by attempting to talk his way through a song, and what is with that Hair!!!!!????? How bizarre, who the heck is his stylist, or who told him that it would look cool to look like a freakazoid????
Best performances tonight in my opinion were Melinda, Blake, Jordin, and Phil. The weakest besides the obvious Sanjaya were Chris Sligh, Chris Richardson, and Haley. Giving standard performances were LaKisha and Gina.
Tomorrow night for the results it had better be Sanjaya or we will all know that Howard Stern controls the world!!!!!

I hope Sanjaya goes tommorow, but I doubt he will. Probably Haley or Chris Sligh is my guess.
I didn't listen to all of Sanjaya's performance, but what I heard was horrible as usual. His hair style tonight was... WHAT was he thinking.
I thought Melinda did great as usual. For the first time I liked Gina's performance. I haven't been a fan, but I did find her performance tonight to be pretty good. Jordin... What happened? Didn't like it at all. Phil did fairly well too.
Also I just don't get what people see in Blake. Hes ok, but I think he is overrated.

I voted for LaKisha, Gina, Melinda, and Jordin. My least favorites were Chris S., Sanjaya, Haley, and Chris R. At some points Sanjaya sounded better than normal, but, IMO, he's nowhere near as talented as some of the other singers. I thought it was great when Simon said that it doesn't matter what they say about Sanjaya- talk about a slap in the face. I didn't get to watch his performance last week (I went to bed halfway through the show), but I read that he said that he isn't the strongest singer in the competition (or something to that effect). I've never liked Chris Sligh, so I think he should go home- he was awful last night. I've never liked Haley either, but she was a little better than Chris S. Ever since Chris R.'s puppy dog eyes last week, I can't stand him...he thinks he's all great, and he's not.
