Coming Soon have and interview with Roy E Disney about the Legacy Collection DVDs. It's quite an interesting read talking about the years at the end of Eisner's reign. Roy even says Eisner may have done Disney fans a favour by blocking the releases of the True Life Adventures a few years back.

Don't have pictures yet, but here's some clues as to the packaging for TLA:
Imagine the Ice Pick Edition of Basic Instinct (DVD in clear case), and the original SE for Total Recall (Circular Tin).
Remove the Ice Pick, move the circular tin lower.
Imagine the Treasures Case, except the back half of the case is green, and the front half of the case is clear.
Add Roy E. Disney's signature to the top.

My big concern now is if this plastic front piece is very fragile or not! If it is, that means that they will have a big problem in delivering it intact through the "hardhand" mailservices. Especially when sent all the way over here to Europe. A little worried I must admit
Maybe Luke who have already got his, can give us a straight and simple quick answer to this question!

The plastic should be fine. I mean it's less durable than a standard keepcase, sure, but there's also less that can go wrong to it, I would think.Chernabog wrote:My big concern now is if this plastic front piece is very fragile or not! Anyone have any advance info of special deals for this collection's release next week, like at Best Buy or Target? I was trying to decide between getting Pirates of the Caribbean 2 next week or getting Gummi Bears, or both, but I realized these COULD be on special. Anyone got any info on that? I guess it's possible they won't be, since the Treasures sets never are, but I though there was a slim possibility they would have a two for 40 deal, like they did with the Disney Afternoon shows at Best Buy. That way, at least I could maybe get two for now.

True Life Adventures probably will cost lower at Costco but I don't get Reward Zone points at Costco. So I'll just go to Best Buy big deal it's only like $2 more.
On the other hand Costco might not have them until the next week.

In your opinion - is it ugly, impractical or easy to get broken?
I've just received my Legacy Collection discs today, and I have to say that the packaging on these discs is beautiful. I don't have a problem with them at all, it's a unique package, and beautifully presented. The 'film cans' are gorgeous, and I didn't have a problem at all in getting the trays back into the lower tin. The only potential problem is the clear front to the trays, which could potentially get cracked in transit, although it isn't a brittle plastic, and the copies I got had all been wrapped in an additional layer of bubble wrap by my supplier. Not got chance to watch anything yet, but certainly on presentation they get a thumbs up.

The packaging is very substandard, there is a very cheap plastic cover on the box which is a grade like all the clear packaging that most products come in today that has to be cut off to get at the product. The cover will not last. The menu is stored under the insert which holds the disc container so to look at the menus you have to remove the insert. I agree that the packaging is unique but it was put together very poorly.
I would rather have seen something more substancial like the Treasures Tins and I would have paid $.50 cents more to get it !
