I'm not really sure myself. On the menus for Disc 2 supplements inside the DVD case it says that the deleted song "finally reveals Ursula's identity!" That really makes it sound as if she is Triton's sister, even if it isn't touched on in the movie.numba1lostboy wrote:
That was just a deleted storyline...I don't think we're supposed to assume this is true.
But if it is, how did Ursula come out half-octopus and Triton come out regular merman???
As for her being an octopus, well...why is she purple? Why is Morgana green? They're witches. From what I remember, on the TV show they stated that purple was Ursula's favorite color. She probably changed herself to what she most wanted to look like. Notice that she's also the only person in the entire movie who has a different animal-base from the normal fish-tail. And I tend to disclude Morgana from having any relevance, since I doubt anyone thought of her when the original was being made.

Yes, that's from the TV series in the episode "Calliope Dreams", where we can see Triton's grandfather, Neptune.Enchantress wrote:I swear I've read somewhere that Triton's grandad was Neptune. Then again, on the same page I read that Ariel had an adoptive brother, but I never watched the series so I don't know if that's from the series or not.Super Aurora wrote:you know, you would think Triton's father to be the god of the sea: Neptune or........AQUAMAN!

LOL I was right. any pictures of him though? I don't remember what he look like. I guess Aquaman is the brother even though he isn't a merman!bruno_wbt wrote:Yes, that's from the TV series in the episode "Calliope Dreams", where we can see Triton's grandfather, Neptune.Enchantress wrote: I swear I've read somewhere that Triton's grandad was Neptune. From what I remember, Ariel's grandfather is never actually seen, only spoken of. Triton wants Ariel to play the Calliope because her grandfather loved it so much (or something like that), but she likes a human harp she finds more. Trying to please her father, she plays the Calliope (horribly) and wakes up an ancient sea monster. She ends up putting it back to sleep after it goes on a rampage by playing the harp. Then Triton tells Ariel that she doesn't have to play the Calliope if she doesn't want to.

It is has been said many times that the musical sneak peek of TLM3 is not a good sample of animation. Well you know what? I LOVE IT! Why is the animation bad? I think it's colourful, vibrant, the music is fine and so is Ariel! And because the pictures posted in another thread revealed a not-so-well-drawn Ariel, here are some screencaps where, IMO, Ariel looks just fine:

Sebastian Can Sing Songs...From the Future!
Lord-of-sith, it's perfectly okay, I have gone off saying things without checking to see if I'm totally right.
Anyway, I just wanted to point out that in The Little Mermaid III Musical Sneak Peek, before Sebastian appears on stage, Flounder says, "Ariel, we gotta get back! What if Sebastian..." before Ariel shuts him up. This clearly shows that Ariel and Flounder don't want Sebastian to know they are there, and Sebastian is still the old "fuddy-duddy" that expects Ariel to show up for rehearsals, the crab who's not supposed to let the mermaid and her friend wander off where they shouldn't be. So I think he's already in King Triton's court, and they discover that he has a "fun side" in the sneak peak.
What bugs me is they use an already known song for him to sing instead of an original song. How would sea creatures in the 1800's know a song from the 1950's that humans wrote?!

The same way African lions know American slang from the 1990s.Disney Duster wrote: How would sea creatures in the 1800's know a song from the 1950's that humans wrote?!

I wouldn't mind abot it that much. The Beetle Juice also use that song and Lion King used "Lion Sleep Tonight" another used song.,Disney Duster wrote:

Re: Sebastian Can Sing Songs...From the Future!
The reason I mind it is because the song was written after the time period Ariel's story is set. Beetle Juice was set in a time after the song came out, and "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" was only used in a short that came after the The Lion King, it wasn't in the actual movie. Besides, that movie's time period is not specified. It could have been any time in Africa. I want to hear original music. The song Sebastian sings doesn't even make sense, it's not really reggae or anything about the sea.Super Aurora wrote:I wouldn't mind abot it that much. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" WAS used in The Lion King, right before Nala attacks Pumbaa.Disney Duster wrote:and "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" was only used in a short that came after the The Lion King, it wasn't in the actual movie.

I know I'm not Disney Duster, but as far as I know, there was no short for "The Lion Sleeps Tonight." It was featured in the film, however. I think you are thinking of the short/music video made for the song "Stand By Me." That short is in fact on Youtube. You can find it by clicking on this link:Disney duster, about the "Lion Sleep Tonight" short from Pumbaa and Timon show, know where I can find it cause I really want to see it again and can't find it on Youtube.

No there actually was a short done in the Timon and Pumbaa show with the Lion Sleep Tonight. Rafiki did some chanting, Timon sang while Pumbaa was fearing a lion stalking him which was actually Simba.goofystitch wrote:Super Aurora wrote:I know I'm not Disney Duster, but as far as I know, there was no short for "The Lion Sleeps Tonight."
