More likely than seeing the Cars 2 trailer in my opinion.

I want to see a teaser on Alice in Wonderland in March! We need visuals dangit! Less then a year to go and we have 1 definite visual of the movie, that's IT!

And WHERE is that Disney Annual Report, we should have had that last sunday at the latest, still nothing... bring it OOOONNN Disney!!!

I would assume that we would see some sort of promotion for this film with Toy Story 3 because the Pixar releases and Disney releases seem to sorta premiere trailers for one another. Although, if i've learned one thing being a Disney fan it's that the second you think you can predict Disney you're often proven wrong....

We should be getting something really soon though!

I think that Disney are keeping extra tight-lipped about Rapunzel as they know that the more curiosity for it, the better. People will be extra enticed to see it at this rate simply because they don't know about it.

Obviously Disney have simply missed the deadline. For everyday they delay, there'll lose 5% of the mark. ;)

It was confirmed that a trailer will appear on The Princess and the Frog dvd/Blu-ray. So if not with Alice, that's when we'll get our first glimpse I guess.

Ah, I'm really impressed with that render. Some of it still needs some work and seems almost video gameish, but I'm very happy with it.

And it might not be rococo style, exactly but there are a few parts of that render that I can point out that are so painterly that I bet if I showed them to people and didn't tell them what it was they would think it WAS part of a painting.

More specifically:

If the entire thing was like that and it had the motion of 2D animation I might just change my career goal from Special Effects to Feature length 3D animation, because it would literally be a moving painting.

If they can get even those small bits to animate really nicely though I will still be incredibly impressed. Especially that hair.

A couple of story artists informed me that 60% of Rapunzel has now been moved out of story and into production. They told me:

"We have another screening of the picture next week. The last one went pretty well. John L's been giving his notes, and we're most of the way there. By next week 70%, will be cleared for production ..."

I agree. Disney has waited a remarkably long time (too long in our minds) in releasing ANY kind of promotional pictures from Rapunzel. For weeks now, I've been staring and staring and staring at that image of Flynn tied up in the chair, with his Tulio-like grin. I even made that image my computer's screen saver!

I am dying to see if the film, once and for all, solves the problems that CG has created. I want to see real fluidness in character motion. I want to see characters strike those, what the 9 old men use to call "golden poses." I want to hear simple, memorable, SINGABLE tunes (unlike the Princess and the Frog.)

Though I have no backing for this claim, I do believe we will see the teaser trailer by the time "Alice" rolls into theaters. The fact that 60-70 percent of the film is in production, "full steam ahead" so to speak, that is very good news.

The Disney Annual Report has been released:

Don't get excited though; the only image of Rapunzel is the one already posted.

At least the picture in the new annual report is REALLY high res! I managed to extract it at maximum resolution. Here you can clearly see the painterly elements in the render. Especially the hair of the characters and other elements. A lot less plastic then in movies a couple years ago...

Wow, didn't know it was that hi-rez. Love it. It worries me that they are just now getting parts of this movie into production, seems like it should be well into that by now, but I can't wait for it.

Glen Keane's daughter, Claire Keane, is working on the film as a visual development artist.

GREAT find! Also lovely to see the video, sheis the spitting image of her father, in female form. So she's the one responsible for the design of the murals in Rapunzel's tower. Great to see that both his kids are in the business as well. Claire as a visual development artist and Max as a computer artist...

I wonder if that's concept art, or art from Rapunzel's wall? Either way, amazing find!!! Thanks for sharing! :)

That painting looks beautiful, but Rapunzel kind of looks like Giselle to me.

I'm beginning to get really good vibes about this movie. I really like how "flat" Rapunzel's face looks. I just don't understand why her face looks flat and Flynn's doesnt.

Rapunzel

Post by Disney Duster »

Amazing find sotiris!

Amy, it's not concept art, watch the video in the link. She just painted it because she loves the character and is a visual development artist for the film, who apparently did Rapunzel's tower wall paintings.

Rapunzel's dress, and everything about her, looks way better in this bass painting! If she turns out more like what we see on the bass, then she will be a good, successful Disney design!

Except I hope they keep her eyes green, not brown! We have no green-eyed princesses!
