The official D23 twitter account reported that it's Dinah and then deleted the tweet.
So someone messed up. They're probably doing an announcement+performance and wanted that to be the big exclusive.

Yeah, his Into the Heights is nothing to scoff at, and Hamilton is doing pretty well.

Wow, he's done two musicals (whose scores aren't even that good IMO). Big freaking whoop. It's nothing compared to Menken's vast and diverse body of work. Look, I don't have anything against the guy but Disney Animation snubbing Menken and not offering him any of the musicals it has in the works is simply unacceptable.

It's disappointing that Menken isn't chosen, but give Miranda a chance!

I understand your frustration; I really do. Menken truly is a wonderful composer. Why Disney is deciding to neglect him is certainly a head-scratcher. Nevertheless, we can't write off Lin-Manuel Miranda just because we can.

I don't know him. Honestly, I'm surprised they didn't go with the Lopezes; I expected Lasseter would assign them to all future musicals when the music of Frozen was well-received. In a way, I'm glad he's going with different composers rather than a staple (accepting that Menken is banished).

Wonderful news! Lin Manuel Miranda is very talented and creative and it should be a distinct sound for a Disney film, which is needed. He's far from a nobody, sorry.

Nothing wrong with hiring fresh talent. Menken was fresh at one point too. People complained about the Lopezes too.

Is that supposed to be the final look of the character... because that does not look ANYTHING like painterly style CGI!

I think Moana could kick Merida's ass.

(And she sings, too. Imagine that.)

Did you actually believe Disney would ever release a feature film with an unconventional painterly look? From what I've heard, only the ocean/water will have some sort of painterly "effect".

It may be possible that they're keeping their options open in the music department.

When you think about it, Disney had "resident" musicians during their best periods. They had Leigh Harline, Ned Washington and Frank Churchill during the late 1930s to early 40s, Oliver Wallace during the 1950s, they had the Sherman Brothers during the 1960s, and of course Alan Menken and Howard Ashman during the 1990s.

Then just like Tangled, they've lied to me yet again. Seriously, F*** today's Disney! Ever since they broke their promise to revive hand-drawn, they've given me NOTHING but disappointment when it comes to animated films.

I'll still wait for a trailer at least just to be sure, but I already have a bad feeling now that I'm not going to be supporting this movie either.

Physically. It looks like she could wield that oar like a weapon. Box office wise? Well, I certainly hope so. I want Ron and John to keep making movies for as long as they want to.

We'll have to see Moana in action first. We know what Merida can do:

I'm sure Moana could win a fight (so could Tiana, imo, M&C's last protagonist), but hopefully she's nothing like Merida outside that. *shudders*

I love the drawing of the grandmother. The father is a little, eh, cliche for a dad. I hope he and Maui don't end up looking too similar.

I was at the panel. They did not announce the voice actress.

She did not speak in the clips. At least not as an adult.
