Re: The Little Mermaid: Diamond Edition - Fall 2013
Honestly, I accepted and even enjoyed Beauty and the Beast's master. and similar for Cinderella, Didn't even notice the problems with Sleeping Beauty or the missing lines in Pinocchio and Little Mermaid(PE). However, where something is completely wrong and cannot be intentional, such as the missing clouds, and the LM DE is where I draw the line.

Guys, is there a replacement disc service for the UK?

That's exactly what I myself am saying. Until we get a confirmation directly from the horse's mouth about whether or not the issue will be present on the North American release (let alone if they'll even acknowledge the problem and fix it), I'm afraid to say I won't be touching it with even a mile-long pole.ajmrowland wrote:Honestly, I accepted and even enjoyed Beauty and the Beast's master. and similar for Cinderella, Didn't even notice the problems with Sleeping Beauty or the missing lines in Pinocchio and Little Mermaid(PE). And I was looking forward to it too!

Are there screen caps available for this yet? I just saw a little promo thing they did on the Disney channel and in nearly every scene, the skin tones were day-glo orange. I hope that's not what it really looks like??? It was extremely saturated..

That's because 99.9% of people will never notice it.DancingCrab wrote: I've sent a very polite email to Disney about this, explaining to them that I have canceled my pre-order until it confirmed that this mistake will not be in the US release, or a replacement disc will be offered. Yes, it's different. Yes, it's changed. But it is so quick and short, and it doesn't really change anything for anyone except for people who have memorized the DVD.
Not a big deal, but hey, let's blame it on Lasseter just because.

It's not just people who have/watched the DVD, damn it! We're talking about people who have watched the film for over twenty-three years memorizing the damn thing! People who've seen it in theaters, people who've watched it for God knows how many years on VHS BEFORE DVD even existed!
And as quick and short the scene is, it's still a pretty damn memorable/iconic scene. And seeing it out of sync is just horribly off-putting.

Re: The Little Mermaid: Diamond Edition - Fall 2013
On the subject or Disney fricking up, I was made aware that a flyer from The Disney Movie Club has a big error in an ad for Oliver and Company and I took my own picture of the goof up.
http://s777.photobucket.com/user/disney ... 0.jpg.html
Apparently Oliver and Company was Walt's second film in 1938 after Snow White with this picture.
I do hope there will be a replacement offered, and I think perhaps once it's released, more people will email them hopefully.

I'm beginning to think you just like to troll this board to come on here and disagree with people in a condescending manner. Please point me to ONE thread, or post even, where you bothered to get along with anyone on here, and weren't being, at best, passive aggressive to another forum member?

I remember Lasseter being mentioned a bit earlier. Ah yes, Disney's Divinity on page 64, saying he was in charge of everything and likely had something to do with this.
Which I think is little more than Propaganda.

anyway, as an international customer. i emailed disney regarding my US faulty pinocchio disc when it came out, they were more than glad to offer a replacement disc. and if we all voice out our disappointment as civilized customers, maybe they'll listen. if universal can fix their faulty sapphire collection, why can't disney?
btw, hasn't anyone noticed the sleeping beauty error that i mentioned?
do you still wait for me Dream Giver?
Re: The Little Mermaid: Diamond Edition - Fall 2013
Hey maybe I am crazy and there will be a public outcry and boycott of the BD release once people see that the two split-second scenes were swapped.
Somehow I doubt it. Do you want something positive? Post something worth agreeing to.
I can start by saying that I am very much looking forward to the 3D BD release of THE LITTLE MERMAID, and in particular, the SteelBook cover that is offered with it. It looks to be a spectacular release and even though there have been edits, they are minor in nature and the improvement in the quality of the image far outweighs the minor negative impact of having a scene swapped.
In fact, I would go so far in recommending to those who cannot sleep at nights due to this change to buy a computer, get some video editing software, purchase the BD and fix it yourself. It should be relatively academic, even for the most inexperienced user. It would be a far better use of time and energy, in my opinion, than blathering about it on a public forum and doing nothing about it.

HOLD IT! I think everyone may be jumping to conclusions here. The Blu-ray.com user BenjaminG did get access to an unofficial advance disc that includes the error. (he posted a pic of the label of the disc earlier in that site's forum page). Generally, advanced copies most of the time wouldn't be 100% accurate to the official. The earlierst version of the Retail version I know of so far would be the UK, which would be coming in September. (unless I'm wrong) Perhaps what we might get in Sept/Oct (depending on region) could have the mistake corrected after all... unless...
to user "rodis", when you stated these errors, were these shown in a early-release retail version or an advance disc?

This is DisneyFTW1, a former Youtube account that was terminated by Disney themselves. My current Youtube Account is FilmFTW2 (FilmFTW1 was terminated). Youtube sucks when it comes to film uploads, and it sucks even more when major corporations are following your channels. But what can I do?

The compilation video showing the error vs the original has been removed... :/ Anyone have another video example?

His name is stamped as VP of the re-release, which is why, yes, he deserves the blame just as much as he would want the credit otherwise, even if I was partially joking.ajmrowland wrote:I remember Lasseter being mentioned a bit earlier. I’m sorry if others really see absolutely nothing wrong with fill-in-the-blank-with-anything-Disney-has-done-or-ever-will-do, but giving endless excuses for continual incompetence to a huge corporation that makes billions every year and who would lose nothing in fixing errors and completing a restoration/re-release properly if only they weren’t lazy, apathetic, or flat-out thirsting to make as much money with as little effort as possible is just one huge, fat load to me. (And sometimes I feel like Disney has employee plants posting here, but it’s hard to believe an Internet forum would be that important--but then I remember what happened to Sotiris over those Frozen leaks and believe anything is possible.
Btw, @akhenaten: Yes, welcome back. I hope everyone will call Customer Service and give them their concerns calmly and reasonably. I do hope it will lead to something, although I don’t hold my breath for Disney. I didn't catch the Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition in time before it was back in the vault, so I didn't know about that issue.

Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ ~ "The Fate of Ophelia"
Taylor Swift ~ "Eldest Daughter"
Taylor Swift ~ "CANCELLED!"
Re: The Little Mermaid: Diamond Edition - Fall 2013
Lasseter was probably responsible for overseeing the 3D aspect of it. I could see something like this happening without his knowledge. A mistake like this probably happened after he did his part. You typically don't expect shots to get swapped for no apparent reason.

Re: The Little Mermaid: Diamond Edition - Fall 2013
Does someone know the reason why Bea Arthur declined the role of Ursula?
So sad she did.
BTW, I remember that there was an episode in Golden Girls where The Little Mermaid was mentioned.
Still, they did get someone with a deep voice that, if you let your imagination go could think Bea is the one doing it.
On other things...
Also, isn´t it awesome how Ursula manages to get Ariel to sign the contract without lying to her? Of course, she made her think that getting Eric to kiss her is going to be really easy but she was honest of what she was, did and what would happen to her if she didn´t make it.
...although we have to make us remember this is a story. There was chemistry between them and in 3 days they could had kissed; even after falling in the water. They could just keep from where they left off.
And that´s a kiss...we know people can go all the way the same night they meet.

A)make an ISO of the disc files extracted from the Blu-ray, and then isolating the primary video in a format that can be used in the editor. This can be made extra hard due to Blu-Rays copy protection.
B) Burning a new disc with the original video file replaced with a new one and make sure the soundtracks are compatible with it. At the very least this step requires a Blu-ray burner.
C)also, retaining the original bitrate and other info in the rendering of the supposed new edit. To say nothing of the 3D version.

I wouldn't call it honesty. She sold the idea without genuinely lying, of course, but she still intended to prevent the kiss in the case Ariel nearly succeeded, hence why Flotsam and Jetsam were there.DC Fan wrote:Does someone know the reason why Bea Arthur declined the role of Ursula?
