That's not how I perceived it. The song's an ode to everything she means to him and how she changed him and enriched his life. He may stay a Beast forever but he takes strength from their time together and the emotions he finally got to experience with her. It's like the opposite of "If I Never Knew You" in terms of concept.

I know people expected a sad song with the Beast singing how devastated he is that Belle left but I honestly prefer this more uplifting, bittersweet direction they went with.

Aren't all remakes doing that by default?
Only remakes of slasher movies and now Disney remakes too. Most movies to have been remade have been either obscure/cult favorites, independent, foreign, or decades old. In case of the best remakes, they actually improved on the original or offered something completely new and practically became the definitive version. Take a look at this list of best remakes and see that 2017 BatB is not comparable to any of them -- it's the very definiton of a cash grab.

Disney's backtracking. They must be fearing it's going hurt the movie's box office potential. He's not gay now, he just questions his sexuality for like a sec and then he goes back to being straight.
Gad's live-action LeFou much less cartoonish, serving as not just comic relief but as a fully-fleshed out character who gives guidance to Gaston and explores his own feelings and sexuality. Gad made it clear, however, that "there was nothing in the script that said ‘LeFou is gay.’"

Condon added, "I think (LeFou's sexuality) has been a little overstated."

LOL! Too late! People have already confirmed that they're boycotting this movie. Judging by the fact that this is considered a kids movie, I'd say the movie is looking at a 10-20 mil loss based solely on that news piece.

They should have just let the audience discover it in the movie.

My issue with this is that it clouds your mind when you watch the movie. While I was watching the B-roll footage, I found myself questioning some of the actions and choices by LeFou..... Super frustrating because it will keep taking me out of the movie when I see it. They really should have kept their mouth shut. LGBT supporters would have probably gone to see the movie anyways, so why market to them?

I LOVE IT! :-D

Though I kind of wish the Josh Groban version was longer and had a bridge and last chorus.

Anyone know why it's not showing up on Apple Music? -_-
I'd rather listen to this than the crappy new version of Beauty and the Beast.

The romantic tryst will be between new character, the piano Cadenza (Stanley Tucci), and Madame de Garderobe, the wardrobe (Audra McDonald). It is followed by a second kiss later on, director Bill Condon told BBC Radio 4's Front Row.

Speaking to Front Row's Samira Ahmed, Condon said of the two kisses between Cadenza and Madame de Garderobe: "I didn't give it a second thought, then at the preview, the [Disney] chairman told me that it was the first and second interracial kiss in a Disney movie. That shocked me. I was surprised it hadn't happened before.... and they [Disney] were excited by that."

Did Patricia Arquette and Dule Hill not share a kiss in Holes? They played an interracial couple in that movie.

So far I loved all the promotional material for this movie and "Evermore" is a really good song. Along with Pete's Dragon, I'm hoping this remake can stand on it's own two feet in comparison to the original, which Cinderella and The Jungle Book haven't done for me despite that I really liked elements of both films.

Blu-ray.com's review is up! http://www.blu-ray.com/Beauty-and-the-B ... 57/#Review

It's a quite disheartening review.

The main criticism from all of the negative reviews I read is that it's too similar to the original film, something we already knew. Personally, I prefer an expanded version of the original rather than a radical re-imagining, so that doesn't impede my excitement for the movie at all.

Omg... no comments about that theater in Alabama.

As far as the criticisms.... I'm also reading a lot about the bad CGI on the objects, and especially the beast. Which I kinda knew just from watching the trailers.

I've read the opposite that it's all the extraneous material that's lacking, while most fans will take offense at minor omissions because this movie means so much to them.

Here's what all the hoopla is about. The bigots were all up in arms for nothing.

^I also saw a lot of backlash from more people in the actual LGBT community so it's not just "gosh those dang homophobic bigots". Or gay people suddenly are internalized homophobes?

More reviews has poured in and it's at 78% now. The New York Times is very positive about it.

With the backlash of the gay scene and the Rotten Tomatoes score.... I don't think this movie has a chance of opening beyond 120 mil.

I think it will do well over time, more so than the other LA fairytales because this movie has songs and people like to watch the musical numbers more than once... But man.. Disney really shot themselves in the foot. Why did they screen it to everyone in the world? THat's very weird. And the RT score and reviews will be out there for a couple of weeks before the movie comes out, so people will def. be exposed to it.

I just don't understand why someone would give it a bad review because it sticks close to the animated movie......... What did they expect? Like seriously.... what did they think was going to happen? We're getting the same songs, same composer, same company...

EDIT: Screw that! I just watched the new clip of Belle meeting Lumiere.. :| Why isn't the beast showing her to her room? Why is it that Lumiere is the one taking her to the room? Ugh.. It's changes like this that make me understand why people didn't like the movie.

Usually in Rotten Tomatoes, if a movie opens with 50 then goes to 70-something, that means it will land somewhere between 50 and 70. Not the kind of treatment that I would expect for a Disney movie. I guess those DC fans will now be happy to see that Disney isn't paying Rotten Tomatoes.

Josh Groban's song is fantastic.

Here's a new clip:

They did share a kiss, here's the proof: https://youtu.be/C7yUHq6o51s?t=49
So, that article is wrong. Beauty and the Beast won't be the first Disney live-action film to show an interracial kiss.

Bill Condon saying they had to change Belle's dress so much because the original didn't fit with the period is a piss poor reason. This live-action dress still looks like it never came from the 1740's or anywhere in the 1700's at all. They could have given her the off-the shoulder neckline with sleeves with ruffles almost to the elbow and given her the trim around her dress in sections.

As for the reviews for this film...well I guess the CGI of the Beast with Belle didn't work out like I thought might happen. I'll try to believe in it working as I watch the film though.

Agreed. I looked up 1740s Austrian dresses after, because he kept mentioning Austria, but I couldn't find anything remotely like Belle's new dress. They should have at least given her gloves or sleeves to at least somewhat try to emulate the time period. To be honest though, Belle's animated dress was never very historically accurate anyway.
