We had Zootropolis, but not Vaiana. I think the UK is the same. So that's how I saw these in theaters but since we don't have home releases anymore and I'm importing from the US the version I own is Zootopia, but Moana was always Moana for me. I wonder when did they realize they need to change the titles and why they didn't change them everywhere for consistency's sake.

In Spain Zootopia is also called Zootropolis. I much prefer the original title, but I don't hate Zootropolis as much as Vaiana. I don't know when they found out they couldn't use the original titles of those movies for all territories, but I don't think they care much about what the movies are called in other countries. At least not enough to change the original title.

Here's my Moana Kimchi Edition:

The front, it's a lenticular:
Image

The back, the water has a texture to them:
Image

What's inside: the steelbook, an envelope with cards and a filmmakers book:
Image

The steelbook comes with a slipcase and the steelbook itself is like the Zavvi one:
Image

The back of the steelbook - the French poster:

Inside the steelbook:

The cards inside the envelope:
Image

The filmmakers book about the BTS, the directors and the actors:

This is the most "collectors" item I own and probably the only one since they don't make something like that for catalog titles so no hope for Beauty and the Beast. But Moana is my most favorite from the Revival so I really wanted it but I don't expect to get something like that in the future cause importing these is really expensive.

Thank you so much for posting those photos, farerb! It's a great edition. I especially envy the filmmaker's book.

^ The book is nice. I think it might be similar to the books in the Target Digipacks, it has both Korean and English. But I don't think it says anything new that wasn't covered in bonus materials or "The Art of" book.

Vaiana is too close to vagina, IMO. Maybe it's my dumb American brain, but I just can't take it seriously as a title.

 The first time I saw that alternate title, it made me think of Vienna sausages.

In my case, Vaiana didn't remind me of anything in particular, but Moana sounds better to me, plus it's the original name and it's more fitting for the character given that it means "ocean", while Vaiana I think means "water from the cave".

I see. And does it feature any artwork?

Ralph Breaks the Internet:

1. DVD (France) - I like how it shows everything, the characters and the buildings of this world.
2. Blu-ray (Japan) - Same thing, but the composition is a little less good.
3. 4K UHD (Japan) - I like this for the same reasons as the other two, just don't like how Ralph and Vanellope are little asymetrical in the cover.
4. 4K UHD - I like this for the reasons of the others except for the asymetry.
5. Blu-ray (Mexico) -I like that it's a little more symetrical but it doesn't show the world.
6. Blu-ray (Korea) - This one does show the world!
7. Blu-ray (UK) - As does this.
8. Best Buy Steelbook - Eh, at least it attempts kind of a funny idea.
9. Zavvi Steelbook
10. Target Digipack
11. 2-Movie Collection (Japan)
12. Exclusive Slipcover (Japan)
13. Heroes Cover (France)
14. DVD (Korea)
15. 4K UHD (Korea)
16. 2-Movie Collection (Korea)
17. Heroes Cover (UK)
18. Blu-ray

Oh, it's a shame it doesn't include any artwork or behind-the-scenes photos, but images from the film are not bad either.

Another problem with Vaiana is the logo. Vaiana doesn't have an "O" so they had to improvise something with the "A".

That's true. The symbol doesn't work well with the "A". That's something that happens many times with international logos when the title is different.

1. DVD (France) / Blu-ray (Japan) ~ This is far above the others for me.
2. Zavvi Steelbook / Best Buy Steelbook
3. Blu-ray (UK)
4. 4K UHD (Japan)
5. 4K UHD ~ I wish they hadn't given the blob virus thing so much focus.
6. 2-Movie Collection (Japan)
7. Blu-ray (Mexico)
8. Blu-ray (Korea)
9. Exclusive Slipcover (Japan)
10. 2-Movie Collection (Sweden) (the one DisneyBluLife posted)
11. 2-Movie Collection (Korea)
12. 4K UHD (Korea)
13. Blu-ray / DVD (Korea) ~ Both of these look like Vanellope should be wearing a shirt or have a thought bubble that says "I'm with stupid."
14. Heroes Cover (France)
15. Heroes Cover (UK)
16. Target Digipak ~ I suppose WIR is supposed to look disinterested in the Internet (versus Vanellope, who's very excited for this adventure), but instead he just looks doped up.

Hey everyone,

Sorry again, a little late to the party. I still have to do my Moana ranking...

But first, I will skip Ralph Breaks the internet. I close-to-despise this movie. I won't go into my opinions on it, but part of my disdain is even reflected in the cover art. So to skip conflict, I will skip going over the covers for this movie.

Aha... but Moana, a MUCH better movie, I am happy to look at. And, just looking at the covers in general, they are all pretty great! Really beautiful artwork, and in general, very reflective of the movie they intend to represent. So here we go!

1) Dvd: wonderful cover. Dynamic poses, good composition, no clutter, great lighting... look at that water! Some have complained that Maui upstages Moana... I don't think so. To me, the movie is about both of them equally, and her pose is so dynamic that you can't help but look at her.(so rare that a DVD gets the top spot)

2) 3D blu ray: Nice poses, and great use of the "magic" water! Looks beautiful, and love the detail of the turtle in the water. Great cover.

3) Filmarena Exl Czech Rep: Woah, what an artsy wonderful cover! A rare one that doesn't use the photorealistic water, and does something with a lot of depth and incorporates the character's poses into it. Very very cool.

4) 4K Best Buy: Great cover, wonderful poses and gorgeous use of the magic water. And I LOVE that they used the tattoo for the back cover!

5) Blu ray: A little posed, but still good. Love how they have Maui's hook playing with the title. Nice colors, great lighting... but those little critters on the top of the frame, look pasted on after the fact... what the heck??

6) Blu ray Japan: I LOVE the background on this one... all the creatures behind the water texture... but Im ranking this one low, cause I don't like Moana's pose. It's cheesy... like some lame-girl taking a selfie and doing a heart shape with her hands. Ugh. Moana isnt lame like that!

7) Kimchidvd Korea: it's an ok cover... but this clipart has been used on other covers, in much more interesting ways. And the photoshopping of their feet on the rock is a little clunky... they don't look like they are actually standing on it.

8 ) Target Excl: I like the character poses, but their choice to have a wall of water in the back makes it lack depth. Other covers used the water motif in much more interesting ways.

9) Steelbook Korea: don't love this artwork (see below)... but the addition of the tattoo art makes it a tad more interesting.

10) Best Buy/Zaavi Steelbook: I know others have praised this one, but I don't love it. It's kinda subtle and almost minimalist... and this movie is NEITHER of those things. Doesn't fit.

11) Disney Princess Cover Australia: ugh... as usual... bottom of the barrel. Not sure who makes these, but just tracing over a CG still doesn't create good art. It feels flat, inexpressive, the hair makes no sense at times... very very bland. And a shame, cause the linework and shading are good. And who picked the background??? Grey and moss??? For a film like this one, which is visually stunning??? Ugh...

I didn't do the ones that are just clip art... seems pointless.

Moana's hands remind me of those magical girl anime heroines who make a "girly" gesture but it calls upon some kind of power, and the rock or whatever she has to give back has magic power, so it makes sense to me in that way.
