I can't recall. If it did, it was an obvious error on their part. Lasseter only gets an executive producer credit on WDAS' and DisneyToon Studios' films.

Bleeding Cool says that the new synopsis is "Disney’s current official description of the film."

Funny how BleedingCool thinks we will see a trailer by the end of this year. Considering Tangled & Wreck-It Ralph's trailer were not released until June of their repective years! Would be nice though.

Ah yes, I remeber that teaser. Also, the June trailer of Tangled was leaked in unfinished animation/storyboard form in Feb. 2010! I have a feeling that Frozen will have a similar vibe to Tangled, via trailers, marketing, ect.

I agree with you DisneyEra! The rough animated trailer I thought was really interesting because people were commenting on "How the rough trailer won't appeal to boys" Everything that was mentioned by the Users who commented was removed from the fully animated trailer (Like the Miley Cyrus Girls Just Wanna... song and the cheesy slogan Rinse Rescue Repeat) That did really surprise me, as It looked like Disney leaked the trailer to see the reactions of Disney's "super" fans! (+the trailer was NEVER removed by Disney!!!)

But it could just of been a coincidence!

That's true. Disney didn't removed the rough draft tangled trailer. We all must remember this: Tangled is the main reason why we are even getting Frozen! The sucess of Tangled, it's clever marketing: The Rapunzhair & Smolder clip & white bronco ads were funny & modern! This is a new era for WDAS! 3 films all completley differrent for another. I keep reading that Pixar is falling from grace, But Disney, looks like a new renaissance!

After all of that, we got a quick glimpse at Disney's new film, Frozen, their next CG animated project that's loosely based on Hans Christian Anderson's "The Snow Queen." The musical stars Broadway legend Idina Menzel as Elsa, a queen in self-imposed exile, and Kristen Bell as her sister Anna, who, along with a mountain man named Kristoff, travels into the icy wilderness to track find her sister and bring her home. Bobby Lopez (Book of Mormon, Winnie the Pooh) and his wife Kristen are writing the songs for this movie, and along with Menzel's talents, we'll also be hearing Bell's singing voice too. (The younger actress also got her start on Broadway.)

We saw some concept art for the various characters in Frozen (a goofy enchanted snowman named Olaf and a bizarre reindeer named Sven look to be the comic relief) and some dazzling locations, like a castle nestled into a gorgeous mountain range with interior designs that had a beautiful, ethereal, classic Sleeping Beauty look to them. There were also research photos from the crew's trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where they trudged through ten feet of snow to get an up close experience regarding how those motions look and feel so they can incorporate it into the film.

I get it now. Kay and the Snow Queen have basically been combined into one character, thus eliminating the only male. Obviously they want a male character that is strong enough for boys to look up to, so we get Kristoff. I must say that I'm a little more enthusiastic now that this plot point has been revealed. I think I can deal with her saving the Snow Queen herself instead of her friend. Plus, we've never seen a true sibling film from Disney (that I can think of) so it may be a nice change.

IGN's visit to WDAS
When it was first announced, we learned that the CG musical film told the story of the fabled Snow Queen, loosely based on the Hans Christian Anderson fairytale. We've also known for about a month now that Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel are set to voice the lead roles. More recently, we discovered where the movie has drawn its inspiration.

"This is going to be a world that is inspired by the real, rugged, majestic beauty of Norway," said Emily Thompson, Senior Manager of Communications at Disney Animation. "Even though the story won’t necessarily take place in a specific time or location, that’s our inspiration."

At its heart, though, Frozen tells the story between two sisters, Anna (Bell) and Elsa (Menzel). "They do a really, really fantastic job together," continued Thompson. "Anna and her partner in crime, Kristoff -- he’s kind of a rugged mountain man -- they set off on a journey to find Anna’s sister the Snow Queen, Elsa, who’s banished herself to the mountains where she’s built this beautiful snow palace; she’s in this kind of self-imposed exile. So they’re going to find Elsa and bring her back."

This is all in order to save Anna's kingdom, which has been cursed in eternal winter. "Along the way, they meet up with this enchanted snow man Olaf, who provides a lot of the comic relief. Then there’s also a mangy looking reindeer named Sven."

So I guess that synopsis was indeed right! Which I'm glad as I really like the idea of the two sisters! I have to stop being so skeptical of things

So far then, here are the similarities between Frozen and Hans Christian Andersen's "Snow Queen":

-General premise: girl goes on a perilous journey through the to find the castle of the Snow Queen

-At least one of the characters is put under a cold, heartless spell

-Scandinavian (or Scandinavian-esque) setting

-Winter setting

-Reindeer sidekick

Dwelling upon things, I don't particularly mind what we have so far (aside from the prospect of a talking snowman character, and perhaps also changing the names of Kay and Gerda if I want to get really picky). In all fairness, I would also prefer the title to be "The Snow Queen", but "Frozen" definitely fits in better with the story's theme than "Tangled" did with the story of Rapunzel.

Surely Disney will have to announce the male lead pretty soon, doesn't animation begin in Fall?

Hi, here i am, back, a french guy who loves Rapunzel but do not like video games (Ralph boresssssssss me ;-))

And Frozen ? It could be bliss, but, will it be ?
They changed the title, the names, the characters, oh my ! But i can deal with it…
I took a big breathe and gave up Menken, Love can't be denied, Kay and Gerda…

Sisters fighting, why not ? (by the way, if Anna is Elsa's sister and if Elsa is a queen… Anna IS a princess !) Elsa really could be a kind of Grimhilde Queen or Gothel, so obsessed by beauty and power that she turned cold, selfish and distant… Did she made a pact with devil ?

What i know is that we will have magic and emotion ! I already picture the dazzling finale, Fantasia 2000 kind, where all bad things melt, where sun and spring explode and Elsa turns warm, sweet and beautiful again ! Sure we WILL have that !

What bother me is

- I’m afraid we will have a seasonal monochrome movie from beginning to end, just in blue-grey-white shades ("kingdom trapped in ETERNAL winter") !!!!! That’s the real risk for that movie, how cant hey avoid it ? In the original tale, Gerda was wandering through seasons…

- the prophecy is not clear : who or what conjured the spell and who, what exactly is cursed ? Anna, Elsa, the Kingdom ?... ( but i just trust Disney to do a great story, as great as Tangled, and not just a snowy road movie (someone wrote that the script was so great that they went for it instead of KOT))

- Don’t we have a new NO-REAL-VILAIN case, AGAIN ??!!! Elsa is not that bad. Or if she is, she has to be really maleficient, vicious, not just sad and sneezy and depressed !
But even if she’s deliciously pure evil, the synopsis is worrying me : she will spend the whole story waiting in her beautiful castle, stuck like Rasputine in Anastasia, or like Facilier, with no real interaction with the heroes expect in the ending climax. That’s the other real risk for that movie, how cant hey avoid it ? Like a Narissa or Ursula spying them from far, but being no real danger. The real antagonist on Kristoff and Anna’s way will be only snow storms and mean snow men ? (snowmen army by the way is an old idea !!!!

http://www.google.fr/imgres?imgurl=http ... Ag&dur=645

I just hope they will be a real scary version of Olaf, more Narnia - black cauldron army -Harry potter dementors type than Maleficient freaks-Tangled rugs -Ice of Age fools !)

Why do they do Andersen snow queen anyway, if they change so many stuff ? Like they charmingly kept Rapunzel original main ideas (the flower, the « let down ur hair » phrase, the magic tear), would be great if they kept
- the gardener and the gypsies Gerda meet
- Anna loving roses
- the evil Mirror
- the snowflake in the eye
- Elsa seducing Kristoff and turning him frozen too for a while….

They really could go with all that stuff instead of inventing silly new jam…

Not necessarily. Just being a sibling of royalty does not automatically make one royalty. And I don't think The Snow Queen holds an official royal position, it's just a name given to her.

Snow Queen and Anna being sisters could possibly make for an interesting and heartbreaking story.Espically if Anna needs to fight her own sister in order to undo the curse she is under.I also think that the themes of sisterly love will be emphasized and explore maybe how even in the most dire situations love can melt the most coldiest ice.

Basically I think that this version of the Snow Queen is actually following some of the themes of the book.Mainly its love that drives the main character's actions.Anna will be driven to break her sister's curse just like Gerda was driven to break Kai from the Snow Queen's grasp.I think at the core love is the theme.Anna's love and Gerda's love will make them take on obstacles that they never would have done but did it because they were brave. And bravery is about conquering your fears even when its scary.

I could even see Anna and the Snow Queen's relationship being as deep as Lilo and Nami's.Mainly that there would be flashbacks to happier times with each other.
