As long as they don't try and anthropomorphize Sebastian and flounder, we should be safe. xD

Diggs and Elba are top-notch casting choices for Sebastian and Triton respectively; though in a perfect world, I'd have Emma Stone as Ariel, Kathleen Turner as Ursula, John Boyega as Eric, Kelsey Grammer as Grimsby, and David Tennant as Scuttle.

but that's just me :3

I like your casting especially since you kept one of the two leads as a POC. Except, I wouldn't go with John Boyega personally. He is misogynistic and supports abusers like Chris Brown. And I can't imagine Disney will ever employ him again after how much he trashed them.

I really hope the fornmer is true ! :)

The later sounds a bit well.... inappropriate. Ursula must at leaasy 40 in mermaids years. Eric is barely an adult:oops:

If you as i do i assume Ursula and Triton are around the same age i don't think the latter would acceptable Disney movie :(

I could see one of the eels being made into female, whether it's Flotsam or Jetsam. I hope Grimsby isn't genderbent because a female advisor/majordomo wouldn't really exist back in those days. Maybe if they turned him into his royal aunt, the sibling of one of his deceased parents, but frankly they have Carlotta for the maternal presence anyway.

I can believe the sibling thing because that was the original plan in the animated film and it also was adapted into the musical. Not to mention, sibling rivalry over the throne clearly has mass appeal between The Lion King and Game of Thrones.

I doubt that Ursula will have the hots for Eric though. That really doesn't work with her motivations (Ariel/Eric is not the target, Triton is, Ariel happens to be the instrument Ursula uses to get her revenge on Triton) and throwing in love/attraction will dilute her power imo. We already got that nonsense with Maleficent and even Theodora (the Wicked Witch from Oz the Great and Powerful) got heavy criticism because all her motivations for turning evil were based on her love for a man being spurned.

The real reason i thought female grimsby was maybe to find a way to get Angela Lansbury in to this movie somehow !

Since this is the same director as Mary Poppins Retrund my dream thought i think it's a bit unlikly is to cast Angela Lansbury as Ariel's Grandma from original fairy tale and earlier drafts of the Disney movie. :)

I haven't read the fariy atouagh i really wan to beacuse i can't find the story unabridged in engilsh or swedish sadly and i don't speak danish.

But i still know some parts of it

Yes, that was something I suggested once. I don't think it's likely to happen, but it would be nice.

I can't really see what type of role she would have in the film and frankly, it may almost be insulting that she wasn't good enough to reprise the role of Mrs. Potts in the live-action BATB but they still want her in the live-action TLM.

I'm really surprised you can't find the story in Swedish. I was under the impression that Scandinavian works tend to be translated into other Scandinavian languages pretty early on. And also forgive my ignorance and please correct me, but I've seen in Danish films that Danish and Swedish are pretty similar languages and the main difference is accent. A Danish person can immediately detect a Swede by the accent and vice-versa but they can both understand each other and communicate to each other. Does that mean the written languages for both are different?

You should be able to find most of the fairy tales in their full-length because they are not copyrighted anymore. I'm pretty sure this is the unabridged version in English but someone else correct me if I'm wrong.

Disney's live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid is set to start production this April, and while that’s quickly coming, the studio is putting the finishing touches on the cast, which includes characters that had a brief appearance in the original animated film.

We have been told by our source that the studio is casting for Ariel's sisters, Attina, Alana, Adella, Aquata, Arista and Andrina. We have also been told that they are casting women of color for these roles. Another tidbit I've heard but can not confirm is that Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Beauty and the Beast) is being considered for the role of Athena, Ariel's mother. However, that is and should be considered a rumor at this time.

Oh good. We're going to get another explanation on why Disney Princesses don't have mothers.

Mbatha-Raw was my favorite part of The Morning Show, but I don’t need anymore flashbacks depicting Ariel’s mother. They would have included her in the original movie if that was necessary.

Ok, that's strange then in the Danish film I watched where the Danish characters and Swedish characters can all understand each other and talk to each other, but can tell who is what by their accents. As an American, their accents sounded the same to me lol.

As for Ariel's mother, I'm really not interested in seeing what we got with BATB where they shoehorned her mother into the narrative and it barely had an impact. And I feel bad for Gugu that she went from a supporting love interest in BATB to the love interest's mother in probably one flashback in this film.

I am so glad Ariel's sisters will be in this film!

But Ariel isn't the love interest, she's the heroine.

In fairness, Mrs. Potts is supposed to be the mother of an 8 year old. Even Emma Thompson is a stretch for that, age-wise. The role would have to be changed to Chip's grandmother for it to make any sense with Lansbury.

To be honest, lately, I’m under the belief that Mrs. Potts is Chip’s grandmother.

I meant in the animated film. Some kids call their grandmothers “mama”, hence why I’m not entirely ruling out the idea that Chip is Mrs. Potts’s grandson.
