Wow- thanks a lot for that really great response, Kram. I know what you mean about the Walt stuff becoming repetitive to long-time fans. I'm always trying to balance the hardcore Disney buffs and those who don't know very much about Disney at all, both of which are a good chunk of my audience, with most probably falling somewhere in between. Your email really was just perfect for the show- thanks for always replying and participating. Those two things make podcasting all worth while!

DVD Junkie, you don't even need to learn bout the Ipod to listen to Aaron's pod casts - if you go to his podcast website, you can double click the episode and inside the description of the episode is a link to directly download it and listen to it right there on your computer.dvdjunkie wrote:Thanks for the pictures JiminyCrick..........do these play smaller discs, or how do you get the music recorded on them, much less video?
But if you decide to get an Ipod, it opens up a whole new world of possibilities. ANYONE (like Aaron) can now start an internet radio show (podcast) about any subject. You can listen either on your computer or download it to an MP3 player (an Ipod is just one of many MP3 players out there). You can even buy an adapter and plug your Ipod into the car, and listen in your car.
The Itunes music store is not that hard to figure out how to use either. However learning to put your pod casts on your Ipod can be really tricky. My husband who usually listens to podcasts right on his computer downloaded them into my Itunes music library, however when I got to the gym, I could not find any of Aaron's podcasts. Finally, Mike setup a "smart playlist" and created a rule (the rule that he used was anything that says podcast dump into that folder). When you plug in your Ipod the same folder gets created on your Ipod. Once my husband did this, I could find Aaron's podcasts.
BTW, speaking of Ipods, mine is a 6 Gig Ipod Pink Mini (see picture posted above!) AND Disney released a "Cars" MP3 player (it didn't hold much) and also released a slightly bigger one for the POTC movie. I wanted to get the POTC one but since I already had the Mini my husband talked me out of it.

Thought I would put this in a separate message. Podcast feedback:
I am now busy trying to catch up with the podcasts and I am really enjoying your podcasts! This is the first and only podcast I've ever listened to, but I will probably branch out now and subscribe to some of the other Disney ones like Mousepod etc that are in the network. It is great to hear comments in your podcasts from UD forum members! I really enjoy that.
Aaron: Did anyone have a problem understanding Jim Hill's side of the interview? His audio was very muffled and hard to make out what he was saying, but your side of the audio sounded fine. I also had a similar experience during the interview on #14 with Pink Renata. I was listening to that one directly on my computer from the website, her side of the audio got so soft I could not hear it. But once I switched to listening to that episode on the Ipod, there was no problem hearing her. Are these technical problems in the way the audio is recorded or in the case of the Jim Hill interview, is something wrong with my download and I should have re-downloaded it?
BTW, from Episode #1 you sound like you were born to be a podcaster - you are a real natural at this. Did you have previous broadcasting experience, maybe in school? Also I think having the episodes somewhere between 45 minutes and an hour is good; the 15-minute episodes are just too dang short!

I had the same problems, but I think it's just they (only) way Aaron could get the interview. I believe they were on the phone or something (it was really obvious with Jim Hill), so the audio suffered. My roommate at school once did an audio project and he needed a friend from home to read lines. He had all kind of special equipment that recorded audio from cell phone, but still the audio was quiet and muffled. I don't think there's much he can do to improve it, but whatever was changed between the Jim Hill interview and the Renata interview, it helped a lot.Pluto Region1 wrote:Aaron: Did anyone have a problem understanding Jim Hill's side of the interview? Thanks for posting; I am glad it wasn't me or my Ipod! yes, the Renata inteview did not have that muffled problem in fact it sounded like they were in the same room. However when I played the interview on my computer I could hardly hear her, but on my Ipod that problem totally disappeared.Kram Nebuer wrote:I had the same problems, but I think it's just they (only) way Aaron could get the interview. Kram is essentially right. Skype (the program that connects my computer with telephones) simply records at a lower volume level and as of yet, I haven't figured out a solution. In between my interview with Jim Hill and Renata, however, it occurred to me to go in and edit Renata's volume levels. I was able to raise them somewhat without them sounding distorted (while keeping my audio level the same) and that's why her's was easier to understand. Hopefully I'll continue to figure out ways to improve the audio level in interviews.
Anyways, thanks a whole lot for your prolific and warm feedback, PR1. I'm honored that you bring ZADDP along for your workouts... maybe I should start playing more upbeat music.
Kram and Lucylover, you needn't wait any longer...

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to hear about Disneyland. I myself haven't been there since 1998 (well we did go to DCA in 2001 but only for half a day).AwallaceUNC wrote:Kram and Lucylover, you needn't wait any longer...

Lol, I just downloaded the file, Aaron, and I must say it is one of the longest audio files I have (good thing though b/c it's about Disneyland, YAY)! Even longer than "New World Symphony" and that's pretty long!

I really enjoyed the episode Aaron. What's better than to listen to you babble on and on for almost an hour and a half!
But seriously I'm glad you had a great time at Disney Land. I hear from everyone who's gone to California Adventure that it is really not up to par with the other parks so I'm sure no one will be overly dissapointed with your criticisms.

Another great episode, Aaron! I agree with LucyLover1986; I really enjoyed listening to your Disneyland escapades! I haven't been there for quite a while and it was nice to hear about it again and hear it from a first timer's point of view! I don't really recall much of my first time to a Disney park since I was so young and I'm glad you were able to have a first time experience with the original Disneyland and appreciate it at an older age. Also, I listened to your critique on DCA and fondly remembered our visit to the "better half" of the park back in 2001. I really wish Aladdin was there when we went. We saw a great musical reveu show called "Steps in Time" but I guess it wasn't really that terrific since all I remember are drums and actors with fish heads. Also, I posted more of my reaction to the DCA part of your review here. I also liked hearing about your Pirates experience. I enjoyed the movie as well, but I did find it rather long and slow a few times. Also, I felt the ending kind of was a bit of a slap in the face. I wasn't expecting it and I wasn't really sure how it was going to end either. The different parts to it were quite a surprise and I didn't even realize it ended until the ending had almost ended!

So you recorded both the JH and the Renata interviews with Skype? Does that mean that both you and the interviewees have to have Skype in order for that to work? Mousepod (Jesse) is also recording interviews via Skype. I just listened to Jesse's podcast for the first time today at the gym (the recent Fantasia episode) so I got to hear your contribution to the program and he had an interview with Jenny(?) who is his Dland expert. They did the interview via Skype and it was perfect- crystal clear. When he interviewed you on there, you sounded perfect as well.AwallaceUNC wrote:Kram is essentially right. I've had my own set of Ipod difficulties - 1st trying to figure out how to download them off of Itunes and then they were lost on my Ipod for a good month because we didn't know how to get the Ipod to put them somewhere where I could access them. We now have them on a playlist.
The only slight complaint I have is that because the podcast titles are long, I can't tell which episode I am accessing - I have to play the podcast and wait for the title to scroll on my display screen. Most people probably don't have more than 1 episode of a podcast at a time on their Ipod so I suppose my problem is unique.
Thank you for doing these programs! They are really educational for me. Unfortunately because of time constraints I am not getting into the gym as much as I like and I'm falling behind again on the podcasts.AwallaceUNC wrote:Anyways, thanks a whole lot for your prolific and warm feedback, PR1. I love show, I just got into it last week. I found it interesting the newest episode is about a trip to Disneyland, I'm planning my first trip ever there for this fall to check out the Haunted Mansion and it's a small world holiday versions.
I'd also like to note that Tarzan did live in a treehouse. When he was a baby, and later on he returned there as an adult (but didn't live there).

If both Skype users are using a headset and computer microphone to talk directly to one another, it tends to sound a lot better and louder (the only problem is the occasional dropped frame, which sounds like a CD skip). If one of them is on a telephone or especially cell phone, it seems to lower the audio level for some reason. There have recently been some software updates aimed at improving this so hopefully the next interview will come out even better.Pluto Region1 wrote:So you recorded both the JH and the Renata interviews with Skype? That's a good point and something that I wish iPod would address. At this point, I'm hesitant to change the way the shows are titled because some people are very particular about consistency in the way their music is filed, so I try to keep it the same each time. If this is something I start hearing more about, I may look at possible changes later.Pluto Region 1 wrote:The only slight complaint I have is that because the podcast titles are long, I can't tell which episode I am accessing - I have to play the podcast and wait for the title to scroll on my display screen. Another whoops! You're right- I forgot about that. Still, that's such a small part of the movie and as you say, he didn't really live there. Compared to the relevance of the Swiss Family treehouse, I still feel that it's a bit of a stretch.Mr. Bungle wrote:I'd also like to note that Tarzan did live in a treehouse. Thanks to all 4 of the above posters for the feedback on the last episode. Also, Mr. Bungle, thanks a lot for the compliment and welcome aboard to ZADDP. I'm happy to have you as a new subscriber!
As for the questions about audio, yes there *was* a definite audio problem on the last show. I didn't realize it until after it was posted. To make a long story short, my microphone was on its way out and has since broken (). I'm close to resolving the problem and will hopefully have the next epsiode (Rock 'n' Rollercoaster!) posted sometime today.

Yeah- I haven't been there, but I do know of it. Why- did I say there weren't any? Eek! I hope not. If so, I meant to say that there aren't many. In Disneyland, it's practically all they have (and very little counter service).JiminyCrick91 wrote:Well he DID live there in the TV show as I recall. Darn. I thought this was bumped because the new episode was up!
Lol,
sorry to bump. I'm being a hypocrite now.
I only saw one episode and it was really cool because they had Edgar Rice Burroughs meet Tarzan. I think they tried to be discreet and just called him "Ed" the whole episode. Wait...I might be making that up and confusing that with something else...AwallaceUNC wrote:That's a few seconds more than I have seen.Mr. Bungle wrote:I don't know if I ever have seen more than a few seconds of the TV show, thanks for the info!

Thanks for that great episode. By the way, I'm not a big fan of Aerosmith, but I do remember singing with a rap group called Run-DMC on "Walk This Way" since it was a big hit back in 1986. That song inspired the "Rock N' Roller Coaster" attraction at the Disney/MGM Studios. I have this song by Run-DMC featuring Aerosmith. Aaron, since you are listening, if you haven't heard the remake of that song, here it is.AwallaceUNC wrote:Episode #19 - Disney on Board: Rock 'n' Rollercoaster Starring Aerosmith
