I was thinking the same thing when I saw this at the top of the topics list. But I'm glad this really isn't one of those times! The news is not very insightful, but it is SOMETHING!!!! :D

My question is, can we preorder it still now that there are these supposedly good chances of it being released? Should I bother or wait until I actually am holding a copy in my local DVD retailer?

Amazon seems to have removed its ability to preorder the item now, but I'm not sure about other retailers...

No place appears to be taking preorders at this time. I hope/assume that the Amazon preorders already placed will stay in place. I also hope/assume that when (or if, leaving room for change) Amazon begins taking orders again that they'll be out of their BVHE DVDs at SRP phase.

The Disneyland DVD Set

Post by videos4family »

Hi,

I was just wondering--- if any of you know at all there has been ads and things going for the Secrets, Stories & Magic of the Happiest Place on Earth DVD. Does anyone know the update regarding this or what exactly is going on with the release date? I honestly never heard why they push the release date up. If someone can explain that.

PLUS we are doing what we can personally to push DISNEY to put out a Special Edition of the DISNEY RETURN TO OZ movie. Go here and sign this petition if you are interested in seeing this happen:

Thanks alot for the help !

I have merged your question into this thread, where you will find all the existing information we have at this time.

And as to your petition, I believe you have mentioned this on the forum before, and it most definitely isn't related to the topic you brought up in the first place. In the future, I think all of us here would appreciate it if you limited self-promotion to your signature.

Now I've gone and done it by bumping the thread with my anti-bump rant!

Secrets, Stories & Magic of the Happiest Place on Earth

Post by Mouseketodd »

My family and I are back from a trip to Walt Disney World, and I heard somewhere that the Disneyland 50th Anniversary Clebration is continuing on (to the end of this year?).

So.... maybe some further events and/or recaps would be planned for inclusion on this DVD. Also, perhaps Disney wants to sell its current park celebration DVDs before finally releasing SSMHPE at retail outlets.

One would hope so, but again - I'll believe it when I see it.

UD Main Page wrote: April 24, 2006 - Sources within and close to Disney have told us that Secrets, Stories and Magic of the Happiest Place on Earth has been tentatively re-slated to arrive on DVD this fall. Originally planned for release on July 12, 2005, the disc was delayed at the 11th hour for no clear reason. Long the most-preordered title among all UltimateDisney.com readers, this much-anticipated DVD will contain a number of things, all related to the world's premiere theme park, Disneyland. The main program is Disneyland: Then, Now and Forever, a brand new, never-before-seen, feature-length documentary on the Anaheim resort. Supplements, as originally announced, are to include the "Wonderful World of Disneyland" trivia game (with beginner and advanced levels), interviews with Diane Disney Miller and former Imagineer Rolly Crump, rare footage of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse on stage at Radio City Music Hall in 1962, the 12 sing along songs from Disneyland Fun, and, inside the case, a collectible replica of the original Disneyland E-ticket book. Those contents are subject to change, as is the expected autumn timeframe. But judging from the active forum thread (with menus!) we have dedicated to this title, this news was too good not to share, as it offers hope for a DVD some have thought would never see the light of day. We'll keep you fully updated on any new developments. If the planned release date holds up, we should be getting a new announcement in anywhere from a few weeks to a few months.
Well it looks like it's going to come SOON hopefully! :D

Yay! Luke's the bearer of good news. (This is why you should be visiting the front page every day, people). The long wait hasn't dampered my excitement for this release and I hope we get a press release soon. Now I'm off to the first page of this thread to check out those menus again.

I think it's time for a chorus of 'Oh Happy Day!'

Is anyone else worried that when / if it arrives it will be missing the footage that was released as a seperate sing-a-long DVD?

"Worried" may be a bit strong, but I am "concerned" that this is the case. It would render whatever value Disneyland Fun had (which, for a Sing Along Songs volume, was considerable) nil. I'd hate to think that this issue was a reason for the delay, however.

This calls for the biggest Snoopy Dance of Joy that I will do this week!

Woohoo!

REALLY hope this still contains a decent documentary. After seeing the excellent Modern Marvels effort on WDW, the original park really deserves its own lovely thingy.

W :o W I'm on cloud nine!!! Let's hope they added a lot of stuff, if they took anything out. This is the BEST DVD news I heard all year, and we are almost half way through the year!! Let's just hope the DVD is not a ticky tac commercial DVD.

That's really good news! If Amazon would just start accepting pre-orders for the next set of WD Treasures, my dvd-wishes for 2006 would all have come true!

I received very upsetting email from amazon today. I had put in a preorder for Secrets, Stories & Magic of the Happiest Place on Earth DVD way back in August 2005 for $14.95 No problem with the waiting or delay. I'm anxious to get this whenever it gets released. Received an email in December 2005 with an apology for the unusual delay. Fine, I can handle that. I'll keep waiting.

Then amazon insulted me today by cancelling my order w/o even consulting with me.

Hello from Amazon.com.

We are sorry to report that we will not be able to obtain the following
item from your order:

"Disneyland - The Secrets, Stories and Magic of the Happiest Place
on Earth"

Though we had expected to be able to send this item to you, we've
since found that it is not available from any of our sources at this
time. We realize this is disappointing news to hear, and we apologize
for the inconvenience we have caused you.

We have cancelled this item from your order.

Further insult : I had used a gift certificate for this order. Now looking at my past amazon history of orders, the Disneyland - The Secrets, Stories and Magic of the Happiest Place on Earth order doesn't even appear anymore, like it had never been ordered. Gift certificate gone!!!

I have a feeling Amazon have been tipped off that when Disneyland - The Secrets, Stories and Magic of the Happiest Place on Earth is officially given the go ahead for release at the end of 2006 ( I smell a Christmas promo ) , the preorder price will be $24.95 . So Amazon has decided to cancel all orders now to make me pay more later. That sucks amazon. They should be giving the cancelled preorders a concession coupon to apply to this item when it gets released.

jbfd ... from my own personal experience with orders that have not worked out, Amazon did not just nullify your gift certificate - you should still have that available to you for another order. Did you save your gift certificate number??

I don't think you can or should blame Amazon for the unfortunate delays we've all experienced with this DVD; and, if you do a little polite research and legwork with Amazon you can use your gift certificate on another order.
