Personally, I like the second one better 'cause it continues the style of the previous platinum releases. Somehow the colors in the former just don't mesh right for me, it looks like a cheap painting. This one, though Bambi looks off-model, keeps it more mature, like the other ones.

Come on it's a FAKE!

The logo is the one of the Dvd trailer
the Bambi face is from a book's cover posted on this board months ago with all the others classics features too.

It is not fake. The cover was posted on the official retailer press site so it is really not a fake...

I just hope its not the Final Version

I just think it looks odd to have so much of Bambi's body covered up by the title in the middle. I also dont think that Bambi looks like Bambi. Im not sure if his head is too big or if it is the colors used. It just doesnt have enough to make it stand out on a retailers shelf. I dont like how Bambi is drawn. I dont like how much of bambi is covered up and I dont like the colors used.

Hehe... boy, I think Chernobog and I just suceeded in creating mass chaos on this thread. Which each passing comment... which cover are they referring to?

Might I suggest simply saying "Paka's cover" and "Chernobog's cover"? It doesn't take that long to type a few extra letters, ya know. ;)

Well, take a look at the original picture of Bambi:

As you can see, the word "Bambi" covers part of the head. I had to paint that part by myself, so i'ts not a problem of cutting but digital painting. Whatever, my cover's result it's quite fine for being done in just 20 minutes, uh?

I don't specially like that Bambi's head, but I decided to use it to avoid the typical image of Bambi with a butterfly in his tail.

But well, maybe you prefer this version:

In both cases, I prefer my versions before the original posted in page 5, with awful composition and awful color scheme.
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way.

I like the last one too, but like someone else already said the cover art and the disc art are no big deal to me, as long as the digital transfer is good and they keep the original intack.

Maybe custom Bambi covers should be a different thread, since this is discussing the actual DVD release. It doesn't make a difference to me, but when people are posting their artwork and passing it off as "another version", it kind of makes for some confusion.

I'll leave the thread as is for now, if anyone would like to continue to stretch their artistic muscles, open a new thread, and I'll split the relevant posts from this one.

Great covers Chenobog and Paka! I wish Disney would do a job as good as yours...
But I agree the picture of Bambi with the butterfly on the tail has been used too many times... As bad as the DVD cover may be, at least they've changed the butterfly to the nose, hehe.

well, Those covers Chernobog did (Thought a lot more worked out) fit better with the platinum concept, at least with the previous ones. The "official" cover colors just make it seem like just another special edition like Mulan. Whatever, like someone said, the important thing is the content, and I´m pretty sure this release will be wonderful, like Snow White and Aladdin. So sad Lion King is now the worst platinum release :P
