I love it! I can't believe how quick the cover was released. I like how they are centering the titles now with each of the Animated features and incluing a unique design around it.

I really can't wait to get this DVD, Mulan is perhaps one of my top 5 favorite disney movies. I am even thinking about getting the special collectors set for each of my favorites. Between this and Aladdin, October will be a great month!

Anyone have a link to the mentioned site for Mulan??

Here is the site: http://disney.go.com/disneyvideos/animatedfilms/mulan/

Hmm, the trailer is even more exciting than the one for "Aladdin"! "Mulan II" looks like crap, though... Well, but that was clear since the very first trailer!
And surprisingly enough, they aren't advertising (yet) the "all-new-song".

Don't get why everyone likes the cover so much, really. It looks pretty crowded, plus Mulan looks off-model to me.

Just remember: Cover art is what REALLY matters.

Drools... (after watching the trailer). Wow! It has been some time since I saw it and seeing the trailer makes me want to see it again! Now I remember that I liked this movie A LOT and it should actually be in my top 3, but since it has been a while I didn't think about it that much... Anyway, the cover art looks nice (especially the logo) but the cover looks a bit crowded indeed. But I wouldn't worry about that... I'm really looking forward to this one! Dare I to say, even more than Aladdin!

I really like the artwork, particularly on Mulan's face. It's a bit classier than the previous cover, imo. I'm slightly alarmed, though, by how it's not called a Masterpiece Edition. Have they abandoned it ALREADY after only one title?? I guess we'll have to wait and see...

I can already see how the collector's box will look. It will look just like the lion king box set, black box, ecept it will have red where the orange is, and a dragon symbol will most likely rplace the lion symbol.

I like the new Mulan cover too, but I also liked the old one, I'm just glad to see something new, cause change can be good, and the nice thing about the new cover is that it is brighter.

I don't think the Masterpiece line has been abandonded I just think they are using SE for this title. I also don't think that they will be doing Collectors Boxes for all the future 2 disc releases, just ones that might have a larger (probably male) collector fan base. Mulan, though the story of a girl, is still popular in the male demographic, as is The Little Mermaid, more so than other stories featuring heriones, such as Cinderella, which may be why neither Sleeping Beauty nor Snow White or Beauty and the Beast got Collectors sets, though I think they all deserve them.

I have a feeling that if the collector's Box sets really take off, Snow White could very possibly get one the next time around, even if the other 2 don't. Neither Alice and Sleeping Beauty, though great movies, seem to have the fan bases that say, Aladdin or The Lion King do, which is probably they didn't and might not get collectors boxes, but The Little Mermaid and Tarzan both seem to be great candadates for collectors boxes so we'll see :)

The only thing that could make this fall even better would be if Disney announced that the Materpiece Edition of Pocahontas was slated for September!!! Well, I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Okay, first of all, I LOVE that cover. Best one I've seen in a while. :D

And second of all I'm not sure if I'll be getting the gift set or not. I really really want it (same with Aladdin), but I highly highly doubt that I'll have the money for it around the time of release. In September I'm buying the Star Wars Trilogy, Alias Season Three, and 24 Season Three, so with October directly following that, I'll probably just have the money for the standard releases. :(

Now THAT would be awesome (and overwhelming)! :D

What can I say about the cover art? I've always liked the old dvd cover, but I love this new one. I like how it's split down the half and the sword shows Mulan's refelction. I think it's definitely better than the old version and don't think it's too overwhelming. I find it just perfect, and think that covers like Aladdin (without Genie) too plain and need some background art (something the original Mulan was missing). Although, I'm sure it'll get some adjustments. Now if only we could get an official Aladdin cover. I am surprised at how fast this was released, and on the official site!

And, I wonder what's up with the top saying "2-DISC SET". I mean, SB had the same but BB got the 'SPECIAL EDITION' title at the top. Oh well, doesn't matter as long as we at least getting 2-disc sets at all!

My thoughts exactly.
I'm slightly alarmed, though, by how it's not called a Masterpiece Edition.
When did Disney ever announce that Mulan was part of the Masterpiece Collection?

Well I always just assumed the Masterpiece Collection would be for Non-Platinum Special Editions of films already on DVD. The fact that Mulan is called Special Edition instead of Masterpiece Edition makes me wonder: What DOES qualify a film for Masterpiece status? Why doesn't Mulan make the cut? It can't be for Walt-era films because Pocahontas and Lilo will definitely be Masterpiece as said by Disney, plus I honestly don't see any other non-platinum Walt film getting 2-Disc treatment except Dumbo. Now, based on Brother Bear, it seems Disney will release new animated films under the Special Edition line. Mulan isn't a new release. I'm not counting Sleeping Beauty as that's an odd one that came out before the Masterpiece thing started. So if Masterpieces don't consist of strictly Walt-era films or new releases, what DO they consist of? Keeping up with Disney's logic confuses me.

Yay! Oh happy day! Thank you for posting the cover art, Luke! It looks great! I like how they reused the sword thing and how one side Mulan is elegant and feminie and the sword is a straight edge. On the other side it is jagged and shows Mulan as a soldier. Interesting use of symbolism.
gahhh! too much English class!

I agree with Disneykid. WHy can't it be given the Masterpiece addition title? These titles are so confusing, can't Disney just stick with one and keep it?
