I'm glad about that too, but I wonder if it was the best decision on HFPA's part or not. It seems Hollywood is not too pleased with them refusing to accept their "punishment" and continuing with the awards this year. Maybe it'll take longer for them to make a comeback now, though I guess it'll also depend on the reforms they do and if those reforms are reflected in the nominations and awards or not.Sotiris wrote:I'm glad that the Golden Globes will still be awarded this year despite the lack of a telecast.
This Monday their nominations are announced, as well as the Critics' Choice ones. It'll be interesting to see if the new members make some difference. Also, since submissions are not required this year given that no one wanted to submit their films to the awards, it'll be interesting to see which films they put in comedy or drama, what actors are in lead or supporting, or for example, which songs they choose out of all the possibilities. Speaking of songs, there are many from famous performers this year like Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, U2, etc, so I'm not sure if any Encanto song will make the cut. I hope one of them does, though. I'm also curious to see how the nominations are received. Most likely studios won't use the accolades gotten for their films' campaigns this time or things like that, but it'll be interesting to see if someone does.
