I think Pocahontas hasn't appeared in the games because Nomura doesn't particularly care about that movie, and finds it racist. Think how they cut the Native Americans out of Peter Pan. I imagine a whole movie wouldn't fly.

I do think a world based on the film's Virginia would look awfully nice, though. So many nice graphics about a forest and all.

For extension, I want Max Goof and Roger Rabbit to appear. Heck, a Roger Rabbit series of mini-world and mini-games in the vein of Winnie the Pooh in the first games would be pretty fun.

And Frozen shouldn't even peak its head in any of these games.

I doubt Roger Rabbit is going to appear in any games, either. I would think that Disney Town is the KH series' answer to Toontown. Also, they should do Tangled before they do Frozen.

Also, I think we've seen Nomura will do Disney Sequels or even DTV Movies

How was KH1's Atlantica anything like TLM2?

Also, while on the subject of Mickey, Donald and Goofy, how about throwing in those package films of the 1940s, too? Or at least sections of them? For example, there should be a whole level themed to the "Mickey and the Beanstalk" level of "Fun and Fancy Free", which involves a boss battle with Willie the Giant?

Along the same lines, if we're talking about characters who should appear, how about Jose Carioca and/or Panchito?

Hikaru Utada to Return for Kingdom Hearts III

Teruzane Utada, music producer, manager, and father of Hikaru Utada, made a tweet earlier today in response to a fan question about Hikaru Utada returning to work on the theme song for Kingdom Hearts III. His response was a simple "Yes".

In an interview with JETANNY in 2009, Teruzane Utada said they rejected Disney's offer due to them paying little for the work that was being put into each song made for the Kingdom Hearts series. Hikaru Utada further explained that it was hard working with melodies made for the Japanese lyrics she wrote, then changing them into English. The iconic Japanese pop singer felt that it ruined the intergity of her work.

It was not long after that interview that Hikaru Utada announced in 2010 she would be going on a hiatus from music starting 2011, citing that she wanted some time to travel the world and learn a bit more about herself. Since that time, she has only worked on one new song for the 2012 film Evangelion 3.0: You Can (Not) Redo, "Sakura Nagashi", then in 2013 began her radio show "Kuma Power Hour".

While Teruzane Utada said yes to the answer fans have been waiting for an answer to, it is still early in Kingdom Hearts III's development to know what the future will hold.

I think the possibilities of a Tangled world are very, very high for KH III. For starters, Disney advertises the hell out of the movie and its characters, right down to building a whole restroom area at Disney World based on the movie. Rapunzel herself is a very popular princess so even if Nomura does not care for the movie, I am sure Disney would try to incorporate Tangled somehow.

As for Frozen, I think that has a chance of being in the game as well. It being new does not mean a thing. When the first game came out, Tarzan was the newest movie to have a world in the game. And Chicken Little was brand new when it was used as a summon. Not to mention that a Frozen world would follow the rules of game worlds, which is to have a level based on a different element, Frozen being the snow/ice world.

for an amusing cameo at Twilight Town, perhaps throw in Nicolas Cage's character Ben Franklin from the movie "National Treasure" who owns a store of the same name just for laughs and it could be a shop where Sora can buy stuff.

I agree that it'd be cool for the games to do another level ala Three Musketeers and base it around Jack and the Beanstalk. Have Sora face Willie the Giant among a platform shaped like the Beanstalk would be quite cool.

And yes to Panchito and Jose appearing! Maybe have them fight alongside Donald in a combo-like attack, which only works if the three characters are together.

I'd guessed the same about Tangled. I just hope it's one of those worlds you can skip and still move on with the main storyline. Honestly, I'd rather see Wreck-It Ralph in there, and for some reason that seems more likely considering Disney is trying to break into the game industry apparently and a WIR2 is on its way.

If Hikaru Utada would return to make the (pop) song for the game, that would be awesome! Can't imagine any other singer for this series, her Kingdom Hearts songs Simple and Clean/Hikari and Sanctuary/Passion are epic and iconic and such an important part of the games.

I thought I read somewhere that Sora is now somewhat older in this game. I have no idea how much older, however. Does anyone have any ideas? For the record, I hope he is older, since Haley Joel Osment is now 25 years old.

Seems "mature" enough to me. I always thought at the start of the games he/his friends were around 15-ish.

Nomura did state in an interview that the purpose of the game is that Sora is older as the gamers who played KH 1 when it first came out, in a way so the franchise grew up with the kids (much like Toy Story), so he wants to venture into more "adult" worlds/storylines.

I think this would mean entering into darker/more mature Disney films, however. Pocahontas, Hunchback, Black Cauldron...Pity they already used Hunchback for 3D.

I think that's a bit of a problem of the games: the world distribution. For the first games they've used all of the more popular films and now in their final installment they're left with all the Dark Ages films. It doesn't make good publicity (I can't imagine an Aristocats world working out).

I noticed while trying to get the Speed Run trophy...well, it's not a secret anyway, but I'd never thought about it. It's funny that the majority of the villains in Maleficent's group are from Musker/Clements' films--Ursula, Jafar, Hades. I still find Oogie's inclusion so strange...

He's not older, he's "more mature". I.e., we basically have "Determined Sora" back.


Sora is certainly no older than 16. He was 14 in the original, went to sleep for about 10-11 months, and I dont think his adventures take more than 2 months on average.

As for potential worlds, there's still tons of possibilities. A Toy Story world could be included because of the whole "anything can grow a heart" thing from DDD.
