What I don't understand: He was in the first movie. AS THE MAIN CHARACTER. Why the complaints?

Because Finding Nemo DOESN'T need a sequel. Plain and simple.

Fine, but it's GETTING one. And we already knew that. So news like "wow, the main character signed on for the sequel" is hardly complaint-worthy.

I was secretly hoping that this project wasn't going to happen but it appears it will.

In truth I'll probably end up seeing it anyway as will most of us I'm sure

Up until Disney (particularly Bob Iger) decided to live schadenfreude and be a total and complete cheapskate by cancelling The Little Mermaid's 3D release in favor of sending straight to stupid 3D Blu-ray, no.

Sure, spend billions on expanding the company with Marvel and Lucasfilm and even adding stupid Avatar to Animal Kingdom, but don't give anyone in the classic Disney fandoms what they were yearning for. Stupid greedy hypocrite Bob Iger..

Oh, and don't even get me started on how hypocritical John Lasseter is by having newer straight-to-DVD sequels canned, but still allows the Air Buddies and Beverly f*****g Hills Chihuahua movies to continue.

Because air bud and Beverly hills Chihuahua is a beloved american classics that can stand on their own, right? No one cares about crappy sequels to crappy movies. He was right to shut those other sequels down, they do a disservice to the original. We might hate those other movies, but they were never intended to appeal to us in the first place. They do they job which is to bank on brain dead moms who will put anything in front of their children to babysit for them.

Plus, it should be pointed out that John Lasseter is only in charge of Pixar, Disney Feature Animation and Disney Toon Studios. He has zero involvement in the Air Bud and Beverly Hills Chihuahua series, as those fall under a department he has no control over. It's like blaming Lasseter for putting ANT Farm on the air and cancelling Tron: Uprising.

Wow... You guys honestly astound me at times, no matter how many years I've been here and seen the type of drama the forums can create (each of them more ridiculous than the other). I mean, I love Disney, Pixar and many other things, and not gonna lie, I've been annoyed at some things and ranted about them online. But these things don't matter in the grand scheme of things.

I swear, reading this thread, it's like...

The murderer of a family of four has been let go despite all evidence pointing him to the brutal murder that started with torture of each family member

Image

Pixar announces Finding Nemo 2, confirms that original director is on board and is in the works to call back the original cast

Image

I understand that we are rather passionate about things, but come on. Maybe it is time to focus on things to TRULY be angry about.

Here's the thing.

Finding Nemo didn't exactly end with a sequel hook. So why give it one now?

That is very true. I 100% agree with you on this. There are far worse things than having a Finding Nemo 2 in the world. I know we all are Disney fans but there's a world outside of that which some people I think need to go to the real world and prioritize what's important in life and for some to quit acting like a bunch of drama queens already.

If this were a Disney sequel, it would get the same amount of flames as this is getting. While this, of course, won't be as horrendous, it falls in the same category as those for being unnecessary money-milking. I'm glad to see it getting the treatment it deserves. :) :P

What sucks is that everyone will continue to blame Disney for making Pixar sequels.

Uhm, hello, Disney in the only major animation company that doesn't rely on theatrical sequels to make it's money. At least Disney's DTV sequels when they were released were very low-key and ignorable if you wanted.

Gosh, you know what, I have never thought of it that way! Disney is pretty much the only animation house that doesn't do it. Pixar held out for a long time though before really being as bad as Dreamworks.

Well, they might well have gone down the sequel route as well if the cheapquels never existed.
