Ariel'sprince, I have a PS2 and I pretty much only use that to play DVDs. I have NEVER had a problem with my PS2 or DVDs.

I think that this poster Widdi posted is a good template for the Platinum Edition Cover. A few things I would change, however, would be that the title will probably be in some kind of cool box like the other Platinum Releases, Honest John and Giddeon (if included) should be more towards the bottom (the same for Gepetto, Cleo & Figaro) and that the background color should be darker like the previous covers of Pinocchio.

omg, I just watched Pinocchio (a few days ago actually, the last of the features in the "official" canon I've yet to see), and it's simple amazing!

The animation is wonderful (and I love the look of this and Snow White and all those shorts), the characters were just so believable and lovable (especially the non-human characters), the rotoscoped blue fairy was interesting to watch (as her sexy voice was to hear ), the evil characters were truly, evil (how many baddies have we had in animation that are simply, mean?), the conflicts were multifacted, the Jiminy/Pinocchio due are one of the best I've seen in animation, the whale thing was (albeit random) seriously fun, and the underwater scenes were just amazing.

And Pinocchio is truly, a hero, rather than someone who won a might-off fight with the baddy :P I mean, he saved his dad from a whale!

So yeah, definitely one of Walt's best films, to me, it's right up there with Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, The Lion King, , Lady and the Tramp and Meet The Robinsons. A great addition to the platinum series (unlike Peter Pan....)

Why is Meet the Robinsons minimized? I think it's an awesome movie.

OMG other people who share my love of MTR! I thought I was the only one!

Back on topic:

Pinocchio rules, but sadly it will be the last of the currently released animated cannon movies to be added to my collection. Stupid Disney for treating it like crap on DVD. The PE better be amazing to the tenth degree! *shakes fist*

If it were released before 2005, it probably would have been. At most, we'll probably get amazing to the third degree. :(

I know, man! "Artwork on disc" was like, the best special feature ever on the old disc! Nothing can ever come close to matching its greatness!

The colors on the trailer looked a bit dodgy or at least not up to par with Sleeping Beauty just yet I hope they fix it for Blu Ray.

I wonder which Disney Channel star will be singing "When You Wish Upon A Star" this time ? What happened to when Disney got actual singers to perform the pop versions?

^To be honest, I prefer Ashley Tisdale and Emily Osments versions of their songs to Carly Simon's Winnie the Pooh/Babra(the one who isn't Bette Midler)Streisand's Someday My Prince will come. There's just more energy in these "pop" versions... Streisand''s song just sucked all the life and spirit of out the Snow White classic!

That's kind of hard to do since she didn't cover "Some Day My Prince Will Come" for the DVD. Barbra Streisand did. :P

Bette Midler did cover "Baby Mine" from Dumbo, but that version isn't on either of the DVDs. The Alison Krauss version is the best cover, and that isn't on DVD either, unfortunately.

My bets on Selena Gomez or Demi Lavato. Probably Demi over Selena, she seems to be getting more attention. Although I did see a new Selena Gomez video playing in fye today, i have no idea what the song title was because i didn't care enough to pay THAT much attention. :P

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that the clips on the trailer havn't been restored yet. They just kinda underwhelmed me a bit.

"When you wish upon a star" is perhaps the most sung Disney anthem ever. Its the company's theme song and is one of the most quoted ever.

Ideally, Disney should hire someone important and talented to sing it on the DVD. But, realistically it will be yet another teeny bopper.

I was thinking, Disney should dedicate a feature to the song. Talk how a seemingly simple tune became the anthem for Disney. Then follow it up with a clip of all the artists that have sung it since its creation.

A Pinocchio Gift Book?

Post by Deco King »

I hope that Pinocchio has a gift book with it , in one of the United Kingdom releases of 101 Dalmatians there was a 101 Dalmatians book with original storyboard sketches in it , I don't know as I just bought the regular version - did any forum readers/posters buy the 101 Dalmatians/Book DVD package?

I think that Sleeping Beauty deserved to have a Gift Book too as the film contains such exqusite designs both the stunning Eyvind Earle backgrounds. In fact Eyvind Earles' sketches/designs deserve a book all to themselves , but generally the film is such a classic with many great character designs , particularly the spendidly wicked Maleficent!
